Samsung shoppers rush for £200 price cut on Galaxy Z Fold7 days before release

Daily Mirror5 days ago
Samsung fans who are eager to get the new foldables can get £200 off the devices
The newest and best Samsung foldable is on the horizon, with a release date of July 25th within reach for many Android fans—and there's a reason to be excited, too.
That's because the Fold7 might be one of the best foldable phones that has been released for years - and Samsung has stepped up to the mark.
But what if we said there was a way to get £200 off the Fold7 and Flip7? From double storage on pre-orders to splitting the cost, there are plenty of ways to cut the price.
Samsung has launched its own Galaxy Club, a plan that allows shoppers to spread the cost of a new Galaxy phone over 24 months with a 10% deposit. Although, like plans with the at Sky and Vodafone (or any mobile contract) it is subject to the usual credit agreements.
It allows shoppers to keep their SIM-only phone without needing to sign up with a carrier, and gives shoppers a £100 discount when they sign up. Samsung will also give shoppers a free storage upgrade worth £100 as well as the Samsung Club discount.
Shoppers will also get free Samsung Care+ for two years including three £50 vouchers to spend on anything shoppers want. Samsung will also refund 50% of the phone's value after 12 months of ownership.
Mobiles.co.uk is offering some enticing pre-order deals for the Galaxy Z Fold7, and with the upgrades it boasts, it might just be worth the investment. Prices kick off at £44.99 a month, with double the storage included.
Over at Samsung and shoppers can get the bigger 512GB model for the price of the smaller 256GB device, in its double-storage offer. This is also set to stop on Friday, July 25 as pre-orders finish.
Alternatively, if you're devoted to Apple, Giffgaff offers the iPhone 16 Pro for a reasonable £24 monthly plan, though there's a slightly higher initial cost of £25 upfront.
Tech editor Dave Snelling said: "I've tried all of Samsung's previous Z Fold gadgets, and despite being blown away by the incredible technology, they have never replaced my normal phone.
"However, that has all just changed. For the very first time, I'm actually truly smitten with a Samsung foldable. The tech giant has just released its new Z Fold7, and it really has to be seen to be believed.
"Thanks to a new design and updated Armour FlexHinge, things have been seriously slimmed down this year, which makes the device feel much easier to handle. Another vital change this year is a boost to the cover screen. Samsung has made things bigger in 2025 with the Fold7 getting a 6.5-inch display - that's compared to a 6.3-inch panel on the Z Fold6."
However, he did have some gripes - and that was the price. He added: "Of course, all this tech does come at a very high price. The entry-level Z Fold7 with 256GB of storage starts from £1,799 with things rising to over £2,100 if you opt for the 1TB model.
"The cost isn't the only issue as the Z Fold7 has now lost S Pen compatibility, and there's simply the question: do you really need a folding phone?"

Sky offers free upgrades to Glass Air TVs but only until this week's deadline

Sky is giving away an upgrade to Sky Glass shoppers that saves more than £70, but the deadline to claim it is fast approaching. Sky is enticing Brits to upgrade their smart TVs by offering a free upgrade on its new Sky Glass device. For a limited time, anyone ordering the 43" Sky Glass Air will receive a free upgrade with 12 months of Ultra HD channels at no extra cost. Typically costing an extra £6 per month, this free bonus delivers a crisper, more vibrant and higher quality image, along with immersive Dolby Atmos sound, across selected Sky Entertainment, Sky Cinema and Sky Sports channels. The deal provides a £72 saving compared to the regular price, but it's only available for a short time, as customers must claim the deal by Wednesday, July 30, to benefit from the free boost. The Sky Glass Air was first launched in June as a budget-friendly and slimmer version of the Sky Glass Gen 2. For those unfamiliar with the Glass range, the device is Sky's own-brand smart TV that includes Sky channels and streaming apps built in, eliminating the need for a satellite dish or even a Sky box. Prices begin at £6 per month for the Sky Glass Air, less than half that of the £14 Gen 2. Despite its lower price tag, the Glass Air still features a 4K HDR Quantum Dot screen and Dolby Audio speaker system, with other notable features including hands-free voice control, intelligent and personalised recommendations, and a straightforward plug-in-and-play setup, reports the Express. It's important to note that the £6 monthly fee covers only the television itself and must be combined with a Sky TV and Netflix package. These start from £15 per month for the Essential TV bundle, which offers more than 100 channels, including Sky Atlantic, as well as Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions. There's also the choice to add more than 35 additional channels, such as Sky Documentaries, Sky Comedy and National Geographic, with the £22 Ultimate TV bundle. Choosing this package along with the 43" Sky Glass Air results in a total monthly cost of £28, plus a one-off upfront charge of £20 to get everything set up. Buyers should also consider the duration of the plan; the Sky Glass Air element run for 48 months, while the TV and Netflix package is significantly shorter at 24 months. The TV is available in three colour options: Carbon Grey, Cotton White or Sea Green. However, there are numerous other alternatives for those who prefer to pay in full, including Amazon's 20% discount on the 43" Samsung Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV. This top-selling Samsung TV on the site has been marked down from £299 to £239 – a saving of £60. Meanwhile, Virgin Media's Summer of Sports sale has resulted in price reductions of up to £336 on its TV, Sky Sports and fibre broadband packages. The largest saving is on the Biggest Combo bundle, which includes eight Sky Sports channels, over 200 regular channels, Sky Cinema, Netflix, and 516Mbps broadband. However, for those who have chosen to stick with Sky Glass, there have been some glowing reviews on the Sky Community forum. One user said: "I can't fault it. It was very easy to assemble, and account syncing to my Glass downstairs was straightforward. "The 55" TV is still a heavy piece of equipment compared to the numerous Samsung TVs I've had. Picture settings on auto seem suffice at this stage and the sound initially is totally different from the Glass downstairs – the speakers are at the back so it just projects differently, not in a bad way I might add. Speech is clear and it's certainly loud enough." Another said: "This is a great TV that's perfect for the average TV viewer considering subscribing to Sky whilst seeking a good audio-visual experience at an affordable price. It's good as a standalone TV and works equally well for those who have already invested in a decent audio system." However, the same user also noted it may not be for everyone, adding: "It's perfectly suitable for casual gamers, although hardcore gamers would likely want to look elsewhere for a proper gaming TV to connect their gaming console to."

The Galaxy S26 Ultra's 5 Biggest Upgrades: Leaks Confirmed!

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is poised to redefine expectations in the flagship smartphone market. With a focus on meaningful enhancements across charging speed, design, performance, and battery technology, this device offers a comprehensive upgrade for users seeking both functionality and innovation. In the video below, TechTalkTV explores the five most significant updates that distinguish the S26 Ultra from its predecessors. Watch this video on YouTube. 1. Faster Charging for a More Efficient Lifestyle The Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces a new improvement in charging technology with its 60W fast charging capability, a notable increase from the 45W charging of the S25 Ultra. This advancement reduces the time required for a full charge to just 40-45 minutes, making sure that users can quickly recharge and stay connected throughout their day. Samsung has also incorporated an optimized charging curve that maintains peak charging speeds for longer durations while safeguarding battery health. This dual benefit not only shortens charging times but also extends the overall lifespan of the battery, making it a practical and forward-thinking enhancement for everyday use. 2. A Slimmer, Lighter, and More Ergonomic Design The S26 Ultra showcases a refined design that is both thinner and lighter than its predecessor, offering improved portability without sacrificing functionality. With a thickness of under 8 mm, the device is easier to handle, making it more comfortable for prolonged use. Despite its slimmer profile, the S26 Ultra features a slightly larger display, increasing the screen size by 0.3 inches for a more immersive visual experience. Samsung has also extended these design improvements to the S26 Edge, which is expected to be even thinner—potentially around 5.5 mm—while still accommodating a larger battery. These thoughtful adjustments strike a balance between aesthetics, usability, and practicality, making sure the device meets the needs of modern users. 3. Superior Performance with a Custom Snapdragon Processor At the heart of the Galaxy S26 Ultra lies the custom Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor, a chip designed exclusively for Samsung's flagship devices. With a clock speed of 4.74 GHz, this processor delivers a significant 20-30% boost in single-core performance compared to its predecessor, allowing faster app launches, smoother multitasking, and enhanced responsiveness. The processor also excels in multicore performance, positioning the S26 Ultra as a formidable competitor to Apple's A19 Pro. This makes the device particularly well-suited for demanding tasks such as gaming, video editing, and AI-driven applications, making sure it can handle both professional and recreational needs with ease. 4. Advanced Battery Technology for Extended Usage Battery life remains a top priority for smartphone users, and Samsung has addressed this with innovative battery technology in the S26 Ultra and S26 Edge. The new battery design not only supports faster charging but also increases overall capacity, allowing users to enjoy extended usage on a single charge. The S26 Edge, in particular, demonstrates Samsung's ability to combine an ultra-slim design with a larger battery, offering a unique blend of portability and endurance. These advancements reflect Samsung's commitment to delivering devices that are both efficient and reliable, catering to the diverse needs of its user base. 5. A Larger, More Immersive Display The S26 Ultra's display has been expanded by 0.3 inches, offering a more immersive and versatile viewing experience. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for activities such as streaming videos, gaming, and multitasking, making the device a powerful tool for both entertainment and productivity. The larger screen is complemented by the device's thinner design, making sure that users can enjoy the benefits of a spacious display without compromising on portability. This thoughtful integration of form and function highlights Samsung's dedication to creating devices that enhance the user experience in meaningful ways. STV warns over profits as advertising market slumps and TV projects delayed

Shares in the London-listed business plunged by about a quarter on Monday morning following the update. STV said it was now expecting full-year revenue and adjusted operating profit to be 'materially below' a consensus of analysts. Revenues are predicted to range between £165 million and £180 million for 2025. The company said it was now targeting £2.5 million worth of cost savings this year – higher than the £1.7 million outlined in March – having launched a significant savings programme last year, including across its broadcast operations. STV blamed worsening conditions in the commissioning and advertising markets in recent months for the profit and sales downgrade. Advertising revenues for the period between July and September is forecast to decline by 8%, lower than previously expected, driven by a sharp 20% drop in July, it told investors. The year-on-year decline is set to be impacted by particularly strong sales this time last year, due to the men's Euro football tournament being broadcast on TV. It follows a 10% fall in advertising revenues over the first half of 2025. A number of businesses, including WPP and S4 Capital, have flagged a worsening advertising market as more challenging economic conditions prompt clients to reign in marketing spending. Furthermore, STV warned the uncertainty was causing significant deterioration in the commissioning market. It said projects within its unscripted labels were being impacted with some in advanced development not getting the green light, and others being delayed into 2026. Nevertheless, it highlighted strong progress within its scripted labels with current projects including for Netflix, Apple, Sky and the BBC. Rufus Radcliffe, STV's chief executive, said: 'The deteriorating macroeconomic backdrop continues to lower business confidence impacting both markets in which we operate. 'STV Studios' delivery schedule for the remainder of 2025 has been impacted by the UK commissioning market, which has further weakened at the end of H1 (the first half of 2025) and into the second half of the year.' But he said production had finished on 'key titles with international appeal, including high-end drama Amadeus for Sky and a third series of Blue Lights for BBC One'. 'We are proactively responding to market conditions through a combination of investing in targeted future growth initiatives aligned with our long-term strategy and identifying efficiency and cost saving opportunities across the business,' Mr Radcliffe added.
