Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers plans to disappear post-retirement: 'I won't be in the public'

USA Today25-06-2025
Enjoy him while you can — Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers revealed he plans to vanish once he retires.
On Tuesday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers was candid about his life after football — and made it clear he's done with the spotlight:
"I don't want the attention," Rodgers said. "I know that's a narrative out there. When this is all done — it's Keyser Söze. You won't see me. I won't be in the public. I don't want to live a public life. That's why it's so strange what's going on right now with my private life, because I don't want to live a life in the public eye. I'm not going to be in the public eye. When this is done, I'm done. And you won't see me, and I'm looking forward to that."
Rodgers would clarify that, for the time being, his sole focus is giving the Pittsburgh Steelers everything he has left — although he all but confirmed 2025 as his final season.
Whether you love him or hate him, Rodgers is surely a first-ballot Hall of Famer — as the Super Bowl champion, four-time MVP, and five-time All-Pro QB has done everything there is to do in the NFL.

Urban Meyer thinks the NFL should suspend Jim Harbaugh

The NCAA recently issued the final punishment against the University of Michigan, for violations arising from the Connor Stalions sign-stealing scandal. The outcome included a 10-year 'show cause' order against former Michigan coach, and current Chargers coach, Jim Harbaugh. Former Ohio State coach, and former Jaguars coach, Urban Meyer, believes that there should be an NFL suspension for Harbaugh. 'There's an elephant in the room here that no one's talking about,' Meyer said on The Triple Option podcast, via Karl Rasmussen of 'When Jim Tressel was fired by Ohio State and he was given a suspension. Roger Goodell, Commissioner of the National Football League, came out and said that we're going to honor that suspension. [Tressel] went to the Indianapolis Colts to work in the replay room. The Colts, because of the respect they had for the NCAA and the suspension, suspended Jim Tressel, so he was unable to perform his duties for the first six games of the year.' Does Meyer think the NFL will come up with a way to replicate the NCAA sanction of Harbaugh? 'Any chance that Roger Goodell and the NFL . . . I don't think so,' Meyer said. We've previously pointed out the NFL's effort to simulate punishments, both to Tressel and former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor. The league had no comment on the matter. That doesn't mean nothing will happen. It only means the league isn't commenting. Still, silence shouldn't be accepted. Either they're going to follow the precedent they've created, or they're going to make it up as they go. Whatever they choose to do, they should announce it and explain it.

Saints acquire second-year wide receiver Devaughn Vele from Broncos for a pair of draft picks

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos are alleviating some of the crowding in their wide receiver room by sending second-year pro Devaughn Vele to the New Orleans Saints for a pair of draft picks. The Broncos will get a fourth-round selection in next year's draft and a seventh-rounder in 2027 in exchange for Vele, who caught 41 passes for 475 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie last season.

Latest injury offers one of these Cowboys a roster spot to begin 2025 season

The battle at wide receiver was always supposed to be a tight one for the Dallas Cowboys. With Jalen Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo, Jalen Brooks, Ryan Flournoy, Traeshon Holden and Jalen Cropper all competing for two or three roster spots, multiple players were sure to be caught on the wrong side of the roster bubble. The Cowboys are tasked with weighing WR ability, special teams' ability, and potential down the road in order to make their final determination. 53-man roster predictions have been rampant around the Cowboys blogosphere with a multitude of possible options in play. When Jonathan Mingo fell to injury in Saturday's preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens, it threw a wrench in those projections. Most prognosticators had Mingo firmly on the roster, not only for his draft status but also for his elevated play this summer. Mingo brings size, speed and blocking ability to the WR position and was in the conversation to take snaps at WR3 in 2025. One sprained PCL later, Mingo now finds himself on a collision course for IR (injured reserve). The severity of the injury isn't a season ender, but it should keep him out of commission upwards of four weeks. After being placed on IR, the Cowboys can return him from that IR list after four weeks. His temporary absence seemingly opens the door for a different WR hopeful who would have otherwise been cut. Tantalizing prospects such as Flournoy and Holden have been seen as bubble players who stand to gain the most by this opportunity. Flournoy is a raw developmental prospect with high upside but a ways to go before he can be a reliable contributor. Holden is a surprise UDFA rookie who's been turning heads all camp. How he stacks up as a special teams player might have been the determining factor for the former Oregon Duck. But with Mingo cracking the door of opportunity, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Holden might have just secured his place on the final 53. How it all shakes out remains to be seen but Mingo's temporary placement on IR seemingly grants a four-week trial for one WR hopeful this season. Injuries are never ideal but in the big picture there certainly is an upside for some lucky prospect.
