INSIDE MAIL – NEWCASTLE
RACE 1: VARLEY GROUP 3YO&UP MAIDEN HANDICAP 900m
PRATT (1) resumes from a spell for a new stable. Led all-the-way in his Beaumont trial on heavy ground on Apr 16 then under a hold when just caught late by Trounce in his May 7 heat. PERASTA (8) has been up for a while but worth thought on his third to Divine Bene on a Heavy 8 on the Beaumont two starts back. Drawn well. I'M OPINIONATED (7) placed on a Soft 7 at Dubbo last campaign. Just behind the placegetters in both runs back from a spell and at her peak now.
Bet: Pratt to win
RACE 2: CLICKK MIDWAY 2YO MAIDEN PLATE 900m
TYRONE'S POWER (3) eyeballed the leader and went to the front on straightening before finishing third to Regulated Affair at Warwick Farm second-up. DIVO (1) is a grandson of the Hall of Famer, Makybe Diva by Capitalist on debut. Led and cruised to a near two length win in his Apr 9 Scone trial. Sat outside the leader before going to the front near the 400m to win his Apr 24 Wyong trial on a heavy track. THE ROOKIE (10) will be improved by her first-up fourth to Yes Siree on the Heavy 10 at Wyong.
Bet: Tyrone's Power to win
RACE 3: COASTAL ADVICE GROUP BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 900m
HAWKER HALL (5) travelled strongly in front when third behind Leantothemoon on debut as favourite at Hawkesbury on Oct 24. Resumed with a big all-the-way win on a Heavy 8 over this track and distance on Apr 23. Has since won a Beaumont trial impressively. ONE KIND (14) closing in on a win after three handy placings. Was trapped out very wide when a neck third to Dis Is Heaven at Tuncurry and caught deep again when a neck third to Are Ee Que at Wyong last start. Races well this track and distance.
Bet: Hawker Hall to win
RACE 4: DARREN FARRELLY MEMORIAL (HMF CUP) CUP CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 2200m
TRAPALANDA (2) battled away when fifth to Collect Your Cash at his Australian debut on the Kensington. Stepped up top Saturday grade when fifth to Asgoodassobergets at Gosford on Cup Day. At his peak now and won third-up in Ireland. TOMMY THUG (7) was a handy neck second to the in-form Shangri La Impact over 2000m at Hawkesbury last start. Place twice on the heavy including a third here three starts back. BEARINGS (8) scored her maiden win first-up at Goulburn before a fourth to Rotagilla on the Kensington.
Bet: Trapalanda to win
RACE 5: DAMAR MINYAK DF SUPER 3YO&UP MAIDEN PLATE 1400m
LUNE D'EXCELLENCE (6) was excellent coming from well back to finish a half-length second under a good hold to Pratt in his Apr 16 trial. Went back from a wide gate and was held up early in the straight when a two-and-a-half length fourth to Impressionism over 1300m here first-up. INVISIBLE MAGIC (4) ran much better than his $71 starting price when a length-and-a-quarter third to Hopper on debut at Warwick Farm. Will take improvement from the run. Anamoe's half-sister BLUE WILLOW (3) has been okay on both runs.
Bet: Lune D'Excellence to win
RACE 6: AARON WALTER CENTURY 21 EDGEWORTH F&M BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 1250m
LUNAITE (6) was given a long spell after her debut seventh on the Kensington in March last year. Resumed with a two length second to Night Sky at Wyong on Apr 17 then scored a near four-and-a-half length win from Blue Willow on a Heavy 10 here last start. NAUGHTY NURSE (8) was narrowly beaten by Love Child first-up before winning at the Gold Coast. Worked to leaded from a wide gate and raced keenly when eighth at the Sunshine Coast last start. REDUCIO (7) can bounce back from a disappointing run last start.
Bet: Luinate to win
RACE 7: NEWCASTLE SKIN CHECK CG&E BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 1250m
FRENCH MARINE (6) didn't have any luck first-up when he was held up in the straight and unable to be tested when a two-and-a-half length eighth to Executive Decision over 1100m at Wyong. Has two win and three seconds from seven starts second-up and is a winner at this track and trip. Likes it wet. MURAL CROWN (1) was okay when fifth to Cassiel first-up at Canterbury then raced flat when second last behind She Conquers at Kembla. Can bounce back. POCKET EIGHTS (7) is two from two on the heavy.
Bet: French Marine to win
RACE 8: FULTON HOGAN PROVINCIAL BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1850m
DREAMDEEL (1) was just beaten by Peace Centre at Kembla and less than a length away when fourth to Alabama Fox at Hawkesbury before racing keenly in front and fading behind Fiftyficechevy here on Apr 12. Bounced back with a nose win at Gosford from Ocean Diva who has won since. BELLA KATHLEEN (9) scored a good win at her NSW debut in a Class 1 here before a second to Gentileschi in the Godolphin Tiara at Muswellbrook. Placed all four runs on the heavy. ELIVINA (8) is racing well and has claims.
Bet: Dreamdeel each-way

Kaylee McKeown hard launches new relationship with ex-AFL player Declan Watson, swimming latest news

Don't miss out on the headlines from Swimming. Followed categories will be added to My News. Australia's Olympic golden girl Kaylee McKeown has publicly revealed her new partner – former North Melbourne AFL-listed-player-turned-lawyer Declan Watson – just a week after her stunning world championships performance in Singapore. McKeown is undoubtedly one of Australia's biggest Olympic stars, the first Aussie in history to win back-to-back 100m-200m swimming titles following her incredible performances in Paris last year. Watch the biggest Aussie sports & the best from overseas LIVE on Kayo Sports | New to Kayo? Join now and get your first month for just $1. But behind the golden glow McKeown suffered heartache, with a split from her long term boyfriend and fellow Dolphins swimmer Brendan Smith. McKeown and Smith had dated for about four years, both having set up base on the Gold Coast in the lead up to the Paris Olympics training under Michael Bohl. But since the split, and with Bohl relocating to China, McKeown has left the Gold Coast and relocated back home to the Sunshine Coast with her family to continue her swimming career. Swim star Kaylee McKeown has publicly revealed her new partner Declan Watson. Picture: Instagram McKeown with her new beau at Uluru. Picture: Instagram However the 24-year-old has clearly moved on with life, winning double backstroke gold again in Singapore and then returning home for a well-deserved holiday with her new man posting some stunning photos of their holiday to Uluru. Watson too posted photos of McKeown on his Instagram page – making the duo Insta-official. × The 26-year-old was drafted by North Melbourne with pick No.34 in the 2016 draft but after back-to-back ACL injuries the key defender never played a game for the Kangaroos and was de-listed in 2019. He has since returned home to Brisbane where he now works as a lawyer. 'Declan showed some great potential but unfortunately was set back with injury,' North VFL coach David Loader said at the time. 'He was a great contributor to our group and we certainly wish him all the best for the future.'

Japanese Group 1 winner Panja Tower set for Golden Eagle tilt

Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Japanese star Panja Tower has been confirmed as the latest foreign raider set for a $10 million Golden Eagle (1500m) assault at Royal Randwick this year. Trainer Shinsuke Hashigushi has put Australia's coveted four-year-old feature in his crosshairs as he attempts to replicate the success of fellow Japanese raider Obamburumai in 2023. Obamburumai gave Japan its first victory in the Golden Eagle two years ago when scoring under the urging of Australian-based jockey Josh Parr. Panja Tower is a winner of three of her five career starts to date and has twice one in stakes grade, including the Group 1 NHK Mile Cup at Tokyo on May 11. 'His trainer, Mr Hashiguchi, when he won the NHK Mile, the first thing he said in his winning interview was that he would send this horse to the Golden Eagle,' Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering Nevesh Ramdhani told Sky Racing radio. 'That horse is now locked in to travel to Sydney for the race.' • 'Could be anything this season': Legendary hoops pick their spring stars Japan has representation in last year's Golden Eagle with favourite Ascoli Piceno (12th) failing to perform as expected while Corazon Beat finished last. But the international trend continued in the feature with English galloper Lake Forest edging out French talent Lazzat in an incident-charged edition of the race. It is hoped that multiple European gallopers head to Australia again for the four-year-old feature, including recent Thoroughbred Stakes victor Seagulls Eleven. Seagulls Eleven, which is raced by members of the Premier League's Brighton Hove Albion, is a $26 chance in betting. • Skyhook, Pallaton duel for Rosebud favouritism Trainer Hugo Palmer confirmed last Friday to Racing TV that a trip to Australia was still on the radar. 'It's a lot of money to pass up so we'll just have to see.' he said. Fellow English trainer Charlie Fellowes last week reiterated his desire to bring Luther ($26) to Australia for the Golden Eagle. She'll be better for it and should be hard to hold out from barrier three. ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ NEXT BEST UNSNOOZUAL (Race 3 No.3): The Matt Laurie-trained first-starter has performed well at jumpouts leading up to his debut and has found a race that gave him a top chance to score on debut. SEA POEM (Race 8 No.4): The Lindsay Park-trained mare closed solidly at Bairnsdale at her first run for six weeks last time. She'll be much fitter for that and blinkers go on for this. ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ VALUE BET A PINCH OF LUCK (Race 7 No.3): Has won a couple first-up and has saluted over the 1200m course at Bairnsdale. She could show up fresh on Tuesday. ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ LAY OF THE DAY KAAZI (Race 1 No. 3): Zaaki's little brother trailed the field throughout in town on debut but has come up favourite for the first at Bairnsdale.
