Texas native Barrington Dave secretly taught his girlfriend Kennedy Kinnard to ice skate for weeks to pull off a surprise Rockefeller Center proposal that went viral on TikTok
Inspired by Kennedy's dream of visiting New York, Dave battled rain, nerves, and a made-up event to create a movie-worthy moment
The couple, who met at a 2021 wedding, are now planning a 2026 ceremony blending New York elegance with southern charm — a nod to their romantic, storybook journeyTexas native Barrington Dave went to great lengths to orchestrate a surprise proposal for his girlfriend Kennedy Kinnard at the iconic Rockefeller Center ice rink in New York City.
The carefully planned moment, which went viral on TikTok, shows Dave teaching Kinnard how to ice skate in the weeks leading up to the big moment.
Dave's inspiration for the proposal came when Kinnard expressed a desire to visit New York City. 'I was looking for inspiration on TikTok,' Dave exclusively tells PEOPLE. 'I saw the Rockefeller tree and I thought 'Oh that would be perfect.' ' He knew he wanted to propose by the end of 2024, and when Kinnard mentioned wanting to visit New York, he saw an opportunity to create a memorable proposal.
Knowing that ice skating would be a crucial element of his plan, Dave took Kinnard skating near her law school to ensure she could maintain her balance on the ice. After a few sessions, Dave booked the trip and began to plan the big moment.
On the day of the proposal, Dave faced several challenges, including rainy weather and Kinnard's concerns about an imaginary event that he had fabricated as a cover. 'The biggest thing was the weather being rainy and cold,' Dave explains. 'Kennedy just got her hair done, and I was like, she's not gonna get her hair wet.' Despite the obstacles, he managed to get Kinnard onto the ice.
As the rink cleared, Beyoncé's song "Dangerously in Love" began to play. 'At first I thought it was a joke,' Kinnard tells PEOPLE. 'I don't even know why I said, 'Are you joking? Like, what's going on?' I just remember he started talking, and I was making sure I didn't fall and that's when the screaming started.'
The proposal video, which Dave initially shared for friends and family, unexpectedly went viral on TikTok. The couple was overwhelmed by the positive response from viewers around the world. 'There have been so many kind words of people saying how it puts a smile on their face,' Kinnard says.
For Kinnard, the proposal was a dream come true. 'He listens to me really, because I would be like, 'Women love romance and in this day and age there's not that much romance,' ' she continues. 'And so to have someone who listened and heard like, 'I want a romantic proposal. I want romance.' He delivered. Romance exists.'

As they look toward their future, the couple is planning a wedding for late 2026. Kinnard has always been fascinated by New York City and iconic figures like Jacqueline Kennedy. Aldi employee says 'work a shift with me' and people find it 'weirdly satisfying'

People admitted they found it "weirdly satisfying" watching an Aldi employee stack shelves during a busy shift. Keeping a supermarket looking neat and tidy is no easy task, especially after hundreds of shoppers have gone wild in the aisles. However a worker, known as @MrMullacPOV on TikTok, said he enjoyed "making the store look good" as he invited people to join him for a 'facing up' shift. READ MORE: 'Skint' ITV This Morning star says she's 'moving into caravan' The technique involves organising the products so shelves appear well stocked and look aesthetically pleasing, the Mirror reports. He captioned the video, which has received more than 10.7million views: "Work an Aldi shift with me - facing up edition." The two-minute clip shows him placing items in neat stacks and taking away empty carboard boxes - and people loved it. One said: "The things I'd do to have a retail job where I do nothing but face ups." A second replied: "This is so weirdly satisfying to watch." A third revealed: "This is the most therapeutic thing I've ever watched." "I loved facing up, the most satisfying part of a shift," said a fellow store worker. Another said: "I do this when I go to Aldi, and I am not an employee! "Annoys me that others customers leave the shelves messy." However not everyone was a fan. "I used to work in retail and hated facing up the aisles," said a former supermarket worker. They added: "Put me on the till any day."

TikTok sensation Talibelico unites Punjabi, Mexican roots through banda music

An exploding new talent is turning heads in Modesto for both his voice and his look. A 26-year-old TikTok sensation calls himself Talibelico — a combined term for magical impact, "talisman," and a style of movement in dance, "belico." His style and look have created a connection between the Punjabi and Mexican communities. His father is Indian and his mother is from Mexico. I sat down with Talibelico to ask what motivates his music. "It makes me happy. The banda makes me happy and I love what I'm doing, singing corridos and music," he said. Banda is the style of music he plays. Those who play with him say they were surprised when they met the man behind the voice. Juan Gallardo, who plays guitar, told CBS13 about the first time he heard Talibelico. "I seen him on TikTok a while back, back in 2023, and the first video I seen, I was like, 'He speaks Spanish,' " Gallardo said. Gallardo went on to say, "It's music that surely makes you want to move your feet, makes you want to dance, makes you want to get out of your comfort zone and just go at it." But it's not all fun lyrics for Talibelico. He has taken on more serious topics like the recent immigration raids, making several videos to try and calm the fears in the modesto community and elsewhere. In fact, he's working on a song about immigration concerns. But for now, the message takes a backseat to the music. Talibelico will be performing live this Sunday at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.
