
Oben Electric announces new O100 platform to underpin new sub ₹1 lakh electric bike
Bengaluru-based electric motorcycle maker Oben Electric has announced its new platform that will underpin a new range of affordable electric motorcycles. The upcoming Oben 'O100' platform will spawn a new sub ₹ 1 lakh electric bike, an equivalent to the entry-level 100 cc commuter motorcycles. This will be Oben's second indigenous platform after the ARX.

The company says its new platform will be modular and will be able to support multiple variants and battery options, which will be tailored to different customer segments. The new platform is also said to be future-ready and will allow 'seamless integration of emerging technologies and infrastructure upgrades."

Oben has been aggressively expanding its presence across India in Tier I, II, and III markets. The company plans to cross over 100 outlets by the end of the year. The new platform should help the electric bike maker achieve a boost in sales.
Oben is working on its second new platform developed in-house.
At present, Oben Electric retails two offerings - the Rorr and Rorr EZ e-bikes. Both models are based on the ARK platform and share the same underpinnings albeit with a few changes. While the Oben Rorr is a flagship offering, the upcoming commuter e-bikes will be a lot more basic and are set to arrive towards the second half of the year. Satcom spectrum allocation rules likely to be in place within two months
New Delhi: Rules for the allocation of spectrum for satellite communications services are likely to be in place within two months, a government official said on Monday. The spectrum allocation rules are the last lap that will enable Elon Musk-led Starlink , Bharti Group-backed Eutelsat Oneweb and Jio SES to apply for the radiowaves and start rolling out their services. "Spectrum allocation rules are likely to be fixed in two months. After that, it will be at the discretion of satcom services when they want to roll out their services," the official said. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has recommended that the government should allocate spectrum without auction and through an administrative process-- a move that has seen huge resistance from telecom operators Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel initially. The regulator has suggested that spectrum for satcom services can be for a period of up to five years and considering the market conditions, the government may extend it for a further period of up to two years. Trai has suggested that spectrum charges for both GSO-based and Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) Fixed Satellite Services should be levied at 4 per cent of adjusted gross revenue (AGR). OneWeb and Starlink fall into the LEO (low earth orbit) category which are considered to be Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) satellites. Besides, NGSO-based Fixed Satellite service providers should also pay an additional per subscriber charge of ₹500 per annum in urban areas while exempting the rural and remote areas from this additional charge. While allaying the threat to land-based telecom networks from satcom services, Union Minister Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said that Musk-led satellite communication services provider Starlink can have only 20 lakh connections in India with a peak speed of 200 megabits per second. A government official mentioned that the limit on Starlink connections is due to its existing capacity. The minister said that the upfront cost for satcom services will be too high and the monthly cost may be around ₹3,000. PTI

Live Events (You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel New Delhi: The MSME (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) ministry has simplified the process for availing incentives under a scheme that supports reduction of material wastage to promote green practices among micro and small enterprises (MSEs).The ministry, after reviewing the Scheme for Promotion and Investment in Circular Economy (SPICE), has created a technology portal which lists 116 technologies eligible to receive subsidy under the scheme, said an official aware of the development. The measure is important as the government aims to enrol 3400 MSEs under the scheme by encourages the adoption of circular economy technology among MSEs by subsidising a part of the technology acquisition enterprises from eleven sectors such as plastic, rubber, and electronic waste, are eligible to apply for a subsidy under the scheme. They need to apply to banks or participating financial institutions (PFIs) to claim a subsidy. Under the scheme, the maximum project cost admissible is Rs 50 lakh, with a 25% subsidy on the cost of plant and machinery only."As part of the technology portal, the ministry has identified 116 technologies eligible for subsidies under SPICE," said the detailed listing of technologies was important as earlier banks would reject applications due to lack of proper information on these.
