Justice will be ensured for complainants, says SP Ratna
Puttaparthi: District Superintendent of Police (SP) V Ratna on Monday assured that justice will be delivered to complainants by conducting thorough investigations within the legal framework.
Participating in the Public Grievances Redressal System programme held at the Conference Hall of the District Police Office, she received a total of 80 complaints from the public.
Speaking on the occasion, she stated that all complaints would be investigated thoroughly in accordance with the law and resolved appropriately. She instructed concerned officials via phone to resolve legally valid issues immediately and to ensure that complaints are not repeated.
She emphasized swift and just action, directing officials to act promptly and deliver justice without delay. The grievances received during the programme included family disputes, land issues, cyber frauds, and property distribution conflicts.
Along with the SP, Puttaparthi DSP Vijay Kumar, Women's PS DSP Adinarayana, and Legal Advisor Sainath Reddy, along with police staff, also participated in the event.

Lokayukta raids ex-SP Joshi's house in probe linked to dismissed cop Ningappa
BENGALURU: Lokayukta police searched the house of their former Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru City Division-1) Srinath M Joshi, following the lead obtained in the ongoing investigation against dismissed head constable G Ningappa from Chitradurga district. Ningappa was arrested for allegedly collecting crores of rupees from several state government officials by leaking information of possible raids against them, after obtaining information from his 'sources' within the Karnataka Lokayukta. During a search conducted at the IPS officer's residence in southeast Bengaluru, Lokayukta police recovered Rs 32,000 in cash, a few gold ornaments and documents. Police issued notice to Joshi to appear before them for inquiry, and Joshi is said to have sought 2-3 days time. The probe had revealed that Joshi was in constant touch with Ningappa, which was disclosed in the call details records. Joshi is said to have visited Ningappa's house in Chitradurga, where he was even felicitated, and Ningappa had also reportedly visited the IPS officer's house in Bengaluru. Joshi was relieved as Lokayukta SP, Bengaluru City-1, last week. Sources in the Lokayukta stated that Joshi was relieved as he was to be sent back to his parent department. It was in keeping with his Joshi's request as he had completed three years in the institution. Preliminary investigations had revealed that Ningappa had invested several crores of rupees in cryptocurrency in his own name, and that of his wife and certain IPS officers. He had invested Rs 4.19 crore in eight cryptocurrency exchange firms, and Lokayukta police are yet to obtain details of the money he invested in several other exchange firms. Ningappa moves bail petition Meanwhile, Ningappa applied for bail before the Special Court for Lokayukta Cases, which adjourned the hearing to June 19 to file objections, if any, while also handing over Ningappa to judicial custody till June 30. On the other hand, Ningappa's wife Chandrakala moved the high court, alleging that her husband's arrest was illegal.

Agents who dupe poor with promises of a future abroad devalue Indian passport, says Supreme Court
The Supreme Court on Monday (June 16, 2025) orally observed that agents who dupe 'poor and gullible' people with dreams of a future in countries like the United States and the United Kingdom by promising to smuggle them in through the 'donkey routes' devalue the Indian passport. 'Have you seen these poor, gullible people being brought back in chains? Because of people like you, the Indian passport is devalued,' a Bench of Justices Ujjal Bhuyan and Manmohan addressed a counsel, who appeared for an agent accused of tricking people off their money by promising them a career abroad. The lawyer had sought anticipatory bail for the agent. 'Look at the donkey route… Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru, Chile… Looks like the whole of the Americas…' Justice Manmohan remarked. What is a donkey route? 'Donkey route' or 'Donkey journey' refers to an illegal method of migration, usually used to enter countries like the United States or the United Kingdom. The process involves utilising human smugglers and navigating through various countries, often facing harsh and dangerous conditions, to bypass legal immigration processes. The Bench termed the allegations 'very serious' and refused to entertain the anticipatory bail plea of Om Prakash, who hails from Haryana. Prakash, the FIR alleged, was an accomplice to the main accused, who was working as an agent and had assured the complainant that he would send him to the U.S. through valid means on the payment of ₹43 lakh. The main accused sent the complainant to Dubai in September 2024, and from there to different countries, then to the forests of Panama, and then to Mexico. On February 1, main accused's agents made the complainant cross the U.S. border. The complainant was arrested by the U.S. Police, jailed and deported to India on February 16.
