Who is Satish Golcha, brought in as Delhi Police chief after attack on Rekha Gupta?
Satish Golcha, currently serving as Director General of Prisons, will be the new Delhi Police Commissioner. He is a 1992-batch IPS officer from the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre. He replaces senior IPS officer Shashi Bhushan Kumar Singh. Singh, the Director General of Home Guards, was given additional charge as Delhi Police Chief following the retirement of his predecessor, Sanjay Arora. Singh took charge of the force on August 1. The move comes a day after Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a Jan Sunwai (public hearing) meeting at her Civil Lines Camp Office, adjacent to her official residence, by a man from Gujarat. A notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday stated, 'With the approval of the competent authority, Shri Satish Golcha, IPS (AGMUT 1992), presently posted as Director General (Prisons), Delhi, is hereby appointed to the post of the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, with effect from the date of assumption of charge and until further orders.' Born on April 30, 1967, Golcha took charge of the city's prisons on May 1, 2024. He was initially appointed on an interim basis after major gang wars and murders were reported in the jail. His appointment was later regularised. Before this, he was the Special Commissioner (Intelligence) in the Delhi Police and also served as the Director General of Police (DGP) in Arunachal Pradesh. Golcha also served as the Special CP, Law and Order, during the 2020 riots in Northeast Delhi. Following the attack on the CM, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) took charge of her security from the Delhi Police late Wednesday night. It is providing 'Z' category security cover to her. A source said the decision to hand over security to the CRPF was taken after an initial inquiry found major security lapses behind Wednesday's incident and the alleged non-activity of security personnel of the Delhi Police when the incident took place.

'Sacrificially kill this POTUS': Indiana woman threatens to kill President Donald Trump in Facebook post, arrested
An Indiana woman was arrested in the District of Columbia for making a series of death threats against US President Donald Trump. In a Facebook post, she had threatened to kill Trump, as per the Department of Justice's official statement. Federal prosecutors stated, the woman, Nathalie Rose Jones was taken into custody on Saturday, August 16, and charged with threatening to kill, kidnap, or harm the President of the United States, as well as transmitting threats across state lines. In one Facebook message directed at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), she wrote that she was 'willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea.' The Secret Service began monitoring Jones earlier this month after discovering a series of threatening posts on Instagram and Facebook under the account name ' Between August 2 and August 9, agents say the Indiana woman repeatedly referred to Trump as a 'terrorist' and accused his administration of acting like a dictatorship and causing 'unnecessary loss of life' during the Covid-19 pandemic. Nathalie Jones' online posts became more explicit in early August. Two days before her arrest, the Indiana woman had also addressed another message to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, urging him to arrange Trump's 'arrest and removal ceremony' at the White House on August 16, mentioned the release. The US Secret Service had conducted a voluntary interview with Jones, during which she labelled Donald Trump as a 'terrorist' and a 'nazi,' and stated that if she had the opportunity, she would take the POTUS's life, according to the DOJ's statement. "Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution. Make no mistake—justice will be served,' said US Attorney Pirro in a statement. 'We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated law enforcement partners, especially the Secret Service Special Agents from New York and Washington, D.C., for their tireless commitment to protecting our leaders and our nation.'
