Broncos' Evan Engram on Bo Nix: 'He has everything that it takes to be great'

Fox Sports12-04-2025

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had a terrific rookie season that caught the attention of the NFL world at large. Consider one of the quarterback's newest teammates, tight end Evan Engram, sold on Nix.
"He has everything that it takes to be great in this league," Engram said of Nix in a recent interview. "The biggest thing that stood out to me was his presence in the pocket. He's very calm, very collected.
"When the pocket does break down, the plays he can make on his feet while having his eyes downfield is something that you have to continue to put great talent around, because that is a weapon. That is a true weapon."
Denver signed Engram to a two-year, $23 million deal earlier this offseason. The tight end spent the previous three seasons (2022-24) with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who released Engram in March, preceded by a five-year stint (2017-21) with the New York Giants.
Engram, a two-time Pro Bowler, was limited to nine games in 2024 due to hamstring and shoulder injuries, totaling 47 receptions for 365 yards and one touchdown. That said, he ranked 11th among tight ends with a 72.5 overall grade, according to Pro Football Focus. The year prior, he logged 114 receptions, which was fourth in the NFL.
Nix, who Denver selected with the No. 12 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Oregon, started 18 combined games for the Broncos last season, helping them go 10-7 and earn a wild-card berth before losing to the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round. After a bumpy first six games, which saw him total just 1,082 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, five interceptions, a 73.7 passer rating and complete 61.1% of his passes, Nix came into his own in a big way the rest of the season.
Across the Broncos' last 11 regular-season games, Nix totaled 2,693 yards, 24 passing touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 103.9 passer rating, while completing 69.1% of his passes. In all, he totaled 3,775 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 93.3 passer rating, while completing 66.3% of his passes in the regular season. Nix also rushed for 430 yards and four touchdowns.
"Just this poise that he plays with," Engram said about Nix. "The swagger that he plays with. When you put all of those things together, there's something special there. Obviously, the rapport he has in the building. The way the coaches talk about him, it was something that really meant a lot to me, as well. Really excited to get to work with Bo.
"He has a bright future ahead of him. Whatever I can do to make his job easier and to help him evolve to be the great player he can become is a great opportunity for myself."
Nix was one of six quarterbacks taken in the first 12 selections of last year's draft, Caleb Williams (No. 1), Offensive Rookie of the Year Award winner Jayden Daniels (No. 2), Drake Maye (No. 3), Michael Penix Jr. (No. 8) and J.J. McCarthy (No. 10) being the other five.

Ravens lineman's estranged wife denies adultery claims, calls allegations 'bad faith' in divorce battle

Ben Cleveland's estranged wife is firing back at adultery allegations made by the NFL lineman. Cleveland and his estranged wife, Kaityln Terrell Cleveland, are involved in a divorce, which was first filed in February. The Baltimore Ravens lineman made adultery claims against his wife, and she called them "knowingly false." Kaitlyn Cleveland "vehemently" denied the claims in a court filing on Thursday, which Fox News Digital obtained. Kaitlyn Cleveland goes on to say the claims were made "in bad faith." She hinted that the Baltimore Ravens lineman's claims were false in March, when she posted Kelsea Ballerini lyrics on her Instagram Stories that suggested she had much to say about the divorce but couldn't speak on it. A screenshot by TMZ showed one lyric from Ballerini's song titled "Interlude" that read, "The rumors goin' 'round, but the truth is kindas nuanced. I wanna set it straight, but my lawyer says I shouldn't." In her answer and counterclaim, Kaitlyn Cleveland also requested a judge equitably split their assets while granting her alimony if they are unable to reach an agreement. Ben and Kaitlyn Cleveland have been separated since December 2024 despite the divorce filing coming in February. The date of separation was noted in the first court filing. Cleveland was a third-round pick by the Ravens in 2021, and he re-signed with the team this offseason to remain a fixture on the offensive line. He could see a larger role in 2025 after being used sparingly over his first four seasons. Cleveland has seven starts under his belt in 54 games since joining the team, all of which coming at offensive guard. Former Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb expected to sign with Texans: Sources

Former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb, who is a free agent, is expected to sign with the Houston Texans on Monday, according to league sources. It is expected to be a one-year deal and is contingent on Chubb passing a physical. Chubb received more lucrative offers from other teams, but he would sign a more incentive-laden contract to join Joe Mixon in Houston's backfield. Chubb, 29, was sidelined for much of the last two seasons due to knee and foot injuries. The Texans are expected to sign RB Nick Chubb to a one-year deal, pending a physical, per sources. A second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Georgia, Chubb has impacted the Browns' ground game since his rookie season. The four-time Pro Bowler rushed for 996 yards in his first season, followed by four straight seasons of 1,000-plus yards. Advertisement Chubb's 2023 season was cut short by a serious knee injury in Week 2. He returned in Week 7 of the 2024 season, but would wind up missing the final three games that season with a broken foot. He averaged 5.2 yards per carry and 84.5 yards per game in his first five seasons, and 3.9 yards per carry and 50.2 yards per game in the past two seasons. This story will be updated.

Texans expected to sign four-time Pro Bowl RB Nick Chubb, pending physical

Texans expected to sign four-time Pro Bowl RB Nick Chubb, pending physical Houston, you have a No. 2 running back. Nick Chubb is headed to Houston. And if all goes to according to plan, he won't be leaving anytime soon. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the veteran Cleveland Bronwos running back is expected to sign with the Houston Texans on Monday if he passes a team physical. A bruiser back known for his physical play style, Chubb, is on the verge of finding a new home in the AFC following a promising career in the AFC North. One of the best available players on the free-agent market, Chubb has the potential to kickstart his career as a No. 2 option for Houston. The Texans could pair Joe Mixon with the four-time Pro Bowler to shore up their backfield, which would become one of the league's most interesting tandems entering this fall. Chubb, who's dealt with injuries over the past two seasons, figured his time was coming to a close in Cleveland The Browns selected Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson in the second and fourth rounds of the NFL Draft. They also brought Jerome Ford back from last year's roster. The Texans need a stable secondary option with Mixon deal with lower body injuries over the last year. While he did rush for over 1,000 yards in his first season on a new three-year contract, he also missed three games with an ankle injury in September. Dameon Pierce was the Texans' No. 2 option, who accumulated only 293 yards and two touchdowns, and 92 of those yards came on one play. Mixon also led all Texans running backs in the receiving department by a significant margin, including special teams standout Dare Ogunbowale. Houston also drafted Woody Marks in the fourth round, so he could have a role in the passing game, thus making Chubb a limited runner. That might benefit both parties since Chubb is coming off a down year where he averaged 3.33 yards per attempt. While his numbers have dwindled, Chubb remains a proven back. A four-time 1,000-yard runner since being drafted out of Georgia, his free agency stock unquestionably took a hit since it was clear he'd be a secondary force after dealing with multiple knee surgeries. Since 2023, Chubb underwent multiple procedures to repair his medial capsule, meniscus, MCL and ACL in his left knee, the same location where he tore his MCL, LCL and PCL in a 2015 injury during his time at Georgia. When healthy, Chubb has been one of the league's top running backs. He's a four-time Pro Bowler and rushed for at least 1,000 yards from 2019-2022. His best season came in 2022, where he surpassed 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Texans return for mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.
