'Doesn't sit right with me' - Peter Kay fans divided as heckler removed from show
Peter Kay fans have been left divided after he had a heckler removed from his stand-up show.
The comedian was performing at Manchester's AO Arena on Saturday (February 8) as part of his Better Late Than Never (Again) tour.
This is an extension of his Better Late Than Never tour that started in 2022, after a hiatus of six years.
When he was on stage a man towards the front of the audience at the AO Arena began repeatedly shouting 'garlic bread!' at high volume, The Metro reports.
The catchphrase comes from a famous bit of Kay's stand-up.
It was then reported that during one of Kay's routines midway through the live show, a woman nearby shouted that she 'loved' Kay and disrupted the show further.
Those in the audience then said that Kay stopped his routine to ask the audience if the two hecklers were beginning to get on their nerves.
When the audience shouted back that they were indeed irritated by the unexpected interruptions, the noisy pair were swiftly ejected by security.
As the pair were being escorted out, Kay is reported to have said 'Go on, off you go, Lisa Riley' – comparing the woman to the former Emmerdale actress.
Plenty of Peter Kay's fans were in support of the decision to remove the hecklers, but some weren't so sure about it.
Posting on X (formerly known as Twitter) one person wrote: "Doesn't sit right with me, really unsettling and killed the atmosphere in the arena. I thought it was part of the show at first then when it appeared to actually not be, the language and behaviour of @peterkay_co_uk was completely inappropriate and unacceptable."
Another said: "We were sat in front of the guy. He shouted garlic bread about 4 times, as a professional comedian, he should have handled the situation better, the woman only said she loved him!
Comedian Peter Kay threw two hecklers out of his Manchester gig at the weekend. One man was removed after he allegedly kept shouting 'garlic bread' and a woman was also ejected after she yelled 'we love you'. But should hecklers be kicked out of gigs?

"They weren't heckling him or swearing, the guy said Garlic Bread".
A third posted: "We were sat close by and they weren't annoying at all. Just a couple of people having a laugh and showing their support. Massively embarrassing from Peter Kay, very very harsh and showed his true colours."
However, not everyone shared these sentiments, as another claimed: "They were both totally pissed I should know I was sat in the area they were both in.

"Granted it was a shock when he had them removed but everyone around could see exactly why and were grateful."
Another said: "Considering he was heckling whole evening f*** him.. it was a cracking show and never laughed as much."
A third wrote: "I was at Peter Kay on Saturday when this happened. People were cheering him for throwing out the heckler. He was being a p**** interrupting the show and it had to be done."

Jimmy Fallon says he wasn't prepared for people not liking him: 'It's the absolute worst'
The thing that Jimmy Fallon wasn't prepared for when he became famous after joining Saturday Night Live in 1998 was that some people would always dislike him. "It's the worst," Fallon said Monday on The Diary of a CEO podcast. "Yes, it is the absolute worst. I hate it. I want everyone to like me. I can't stand it. I go, 'Oh, my gosh. What can I do to make you like me?' I think the answer is you can't. You can't make everyone like you. You just have to do what you do. And do the best that you can at what you do. And be happy with yourself." Other bummers he hadn't known about: "Getting rejection. Getting your sketches cut. Being told you're not funny." He was grateful that it was before Twitter was around to capture the hatred. "You think that it's just going to be, 'Oh, this is cool. Everyone will be great.' But then not everyone's rooting for you," Fallon said. "Some people want you to fail. People's jobs are to take me down and to put bad press out and stuff. That's their job, and you're just like, 'Ooh.' I don't live in that world. I don't believe that it's real, but it kind of is real and you go, 'Oh, people are just kind of being mean.'" The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon host explained that his way of dealing with the hate was to do his best to ignore it. "You gotta, again, just toughen up and get through it and just keep your head down and keep being funny," he said. "And just keep doing things and keep being creative. If you move that out, you realize it's not even real. It's real, but it's noise and it doesn't affect you. You can only believe in yourself and know that you have to keep going and, if you keep scoring, that will show. Your work will show. That stuff I wasn't prepared for, of overcoming that. Overcoming hating on you or saying you're not good or something. You don't think that's going to happen. But it will if you're successful, because someone's not going to like you, no matter what."Fallon said he relied on the wise words of the Beastie Boys to get him through. "I loved the Beastie Boys growing up, and there's that one line Mike D says: 'Be true to yourself, and you will never fall. It kind of is the move. Just be true to yourself. Then everyone can say whatever they want, [but] it's like, 'That's who I am.'" Watch their full conversation above. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
