49ers' Christian McCaffrey and model Olivia Culpo welcome first child: ‘A love like no other'

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo announced Sunday the birth of their first child — and revealed her name.
The couple announced the news in a joint Instagram post with a simple caption: 'Colette Annalisa McCaffrey' and a white heart emoji.
The post included black-and-white photos of McCaffrey and Culpo in a hospital room, with their newborn in their arms.
The couple, who didn't disclose where the baby was born, announced in March that they were expecting their first child. McCaffrey, 29, and Culpo, 33, started dating in 2019 and married in June 2024.
In addition to the post, Culpo shared on her Instagram story a photo of McCaffrey gazing at their baby in the hospital. 'Colette is so lucky to have the best daddy in the world,' Culpo wrote. 'A love like no other.'
The model and actress also shared a photo of herself holding onto McCaffrey's arm during their daughter's birth. 'The scariest and most rewarding of all experiences,' she wrote. 'As soon as he came into the room I felt most at peace. Look at the grip.'
The news comes as the 2025 NFL preseason kicks off next month. McCaffrey is looking to rebound after injuries that cut his season short. The 49ers, who lost to the Chiefs in overtime during the Super Bowl in February 2024, missed the playoffs last season.

Garrett Wilson's New Deal May Accelerate Terry McLaurin's Payday

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. As contract negotiations continue between wide receiver Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders, the veteran playmaker could soon become one of the NFL's highest-paid at his position, thanks to Garrett Wilson's recent deal. The New York Jets inked Wilson to a four-year, $130 million extension today, setting a new precedent with an average annual value (AAV) of $32.5 million. That deal joins a growing list of blockbuster contracts, including Justin Jefferson's $35 million AAV and A.J. Brown's $32 million AAV. ESPN sources: Jets and wide receiver Garrett Wilson reached agreement on a four-year, $130 million contract extension that includes $90 million guaranteed. It marks the first time in NFL history that a receiver has received an average over $31 million after playing only three… — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) July 14, 2025 McLaurin, currently entering the final year of a three-year, $69.6 million deal ($23.2 million AAV), is reportedly seeking an extension that eclipses the $30 million mark annually, according to recent reports. He doesn't want to reset the market, but he wants to be paid like a top receiver — and rightfully so. Also read: Former NFL Agent Predicts Terry McLaurin's Demands for Commanders Despite being five years older than Wilson, the 29-year-old has maintained elite production throughout his career, including five straight 1,000-yard seasons. In 2024, he recorded 82 receptions for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns, earning second-team All-Pro honors while building chemistry with rising quarterback Jayden Daniels. Terry McLaurin #17 of the Washington Commanders celebrates after scoring a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens during the fourth quarter at M&T Bank Stadium on October 13, 2024 in Baltimore, predicts that McLaurin will ultimately land in the neighborhood of $31 million annually. The Commanders, however, don't feel as though Wilson's extension changes anything, according to NFL Insider Jonathan Jones. The Garrett Wilson extension doesn't really impact Terry McLaurin's situation with Commanders. Wilson is 5 years younger and now locked up for the next 6 seasons. From Washington's perspective, the landscape hasn't changed for these negotiations. — Jonathan Jones (@jjones9) July 14, 2025 McLaurin's salary currently ranks 16th in the NFL, and the price is increasing every day. The two-time Pro Bowler has played in every game over the last four seasons, proving to be durable and consistent for Washington. Despite the contract dispute, head coach Dan Quinn is making sure the relationship doesn't sour. "Dan Quinn has stayed in constant contact with Terry McLaurin throughout this offseason," James Palmer said via Bleacher Report. "It hasn't been contentious in that sense to where he's separate from the organization. Is there distance, is there frustration here as well? Certainly. Did they make really any headway through the entire month of June? To my understanding, no, they really didn't." McLaurin incurred a fine of $104,768 after opting to skip the Commanders' mandatory minicamp in June. He led Washington with 117 targets in 2024, and the team doesn't have an immediate answer at receiver should this dispute drag into the season. The Commanders signed Deebo Samuel this offseason, but he hasn't recorded a 1,000-yard season since 2021 and can't be expected to replace McLaurin's production. With training camp swiftly approaching, time is running out for Washington and McLaurin to find common ground. The Commanders will need to lock him down sooner rather than later if they want to remain in championship contention. For more Washington Commanders and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Ex-NFL Champ Rips Justin Herbert in Defense of Eagles' Jalen Hurts

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Former NFL wide receiver James Jones couldn't believe his eyes when he saw a list of Top 10 quarterbacks, which was made from the votes of anonymous executives, coaches, and scouts. Once he got down to No. 9, where ESPN placed Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, Jones couldn't help but call the list out on FS1's 'The Facility.' "Looking at that right there, that's awful," Jones said. "You can think whatever you want to think about Jalen Hurts, but there should never be a list where Justin Herbert is in front of Jalen Hurts. I don't really care about what type of talent and all that you're talking about." Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert popped up on the list as the No. 7 quarterback. He moved back one spot after being placed at No. 6 last summer. "He's always been a top-5-8 QB -- accurate to all levels, athletic, sound decision-maker," an AFC executive told ESPN, backing the ranking. "It's almost like he's underrated now, in my opinion. He's taken for granted." As far as an "underrated" claim goes, Jones would clearly disagree and see the situation as the opposite. Justin Herbert #10 of the Los Angeles Chargers looks to pass the ball against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on November 7, 2021 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Justin Herbert #10 of the Los Angeles Chargers looks to pass the ball against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on November 7, 2021 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania."I see Justin Herbert at seven, who hasn't won a playoff game," Jones added. "[Jalen Hurts] has been to more Super Bowls than you have won playoff games, and we're talking about Justin Herbert's a better quarterback than him? I cannot do that. I think this is disrespectful to Jalen Hurts right here." Just two seasons ago, Jalen Hurts was gaining attention as a potential MVP candidate. In 15 games, he threw for 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. He rushed 165 times for 760 yards and 13 touchdowns. Hurts led the Eagles to a 14-1 record. .@89JonesNTAF: Jalen Hurts' No. 9 QB ranking is 'awful:' 'There should never be a list where Herbert is in front of him.' — The Facility (@TheFacilityFS1) July 14, 2025 That year, the Eagles notched their first Super Bowl appearance since winning it all during the 2017-2018 season. While Hurts didn't bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Philadelphia in 2022, it was widely claimed that he outplayed the Kansas City Chiefs' star passer, Patrick Mahomes. Two years later, Hurts would get his ultimate revenge, winning his first Super Bowl and earning the game's MVP award. Herbert's resume doesn't match with Hurts'. And the Chargers quarterback wasn't the only player Jones argued against in this case. "Jayden Daniels is going to be a superstar in this league—I truly believe that," Jones added. "But I can not put him in front of Jalen Hurts, who has been to two Super Bowls. He's had one good year! Do I think that at the end of this, when it's all said and done, could he possibly be better? Yes, absolutely. Right now, as we're talking right now, after one year? No." Hurts has had a hard time gaining recognition as a top quarterback in the NFL since he took over for Carson Wentz in 2020. Really, it's been an issue he's battled with since his stint with Alabama back in college. "This is an awful list when you have Jalen Hurts at nine and those two dudes in front of him," Jones concluded. The Eagles' quarterback might not be able to claim he's top five in the eyes of anonymous decision-makers based on ESPN's list, but he holds one of the NFL's highest honors, unlike the likes of Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Daniels. At least he's got that going for him. For more Philadelphia Eagles and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports
