MasterChef Australia: Back To Win elimination sees cook's dream dashed over underdone duck as brutal butter challenge goes awry
MasterChef Australia: Back To Win has lost another cook after a butter challenge left a lot to be desired on Sunday night. A pressure test called for the chefs to create a dish that 'celebrated butter' in 75 minutes. Unfortunately, Tim Bone's dish fell short when his underdone duck failed to wow the judges, and it led to his elimination. 'My heart definitely sank,' the Ballarat chef told Ten after he departed the cooking competition. 'I think I bit off more than I could chew trying to get a beautiful fall-off-the-bone confit duck in 75 minutes, but that's the world we live in, it's a pressure-cooker of an environment, and you never know when your time is up' he continued. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Unfortunately, my time was up'. The host of Good Chef Bad Chef said that despite being kicked off the series he was happy with what he had achieved. 'I still walked out with my head held high. I was proud of what I was able to achieve in the competition,' he said. It comes after contestant Rue Mupedzi set herself up for a huge career in the culinary world after her shock elimination from the Back to Win season on Tuesday. Instead of hanging up her apron for good, the 29-year-old dental hygienist is planning on becoming a pastry chef. Rue, who is known as the 'dessert queen' by fans, announced she plans to head to Europe to pursue her dream as soon as possible. 'My vision board is to go to France and gain work experience in the pastry world for six months to a year, as well as explore Europe,' she said in a new interview with Yahoo Lifestyle on Wednesday. The WA-based kitchen star said her long-term plans included opening her own pastry shop. Unfortunately, Tim's dish fell short when his underdone duck failed to wow the judges, and it led to his elimination Rue returned to MasterChef after her headline making appearance on the show in 2023. She suffered the heartache of a second MasterChef Australia elimination last week after a tricky pudding failed to impress the judges. In tears, Rue told the judges that it had been an honour cooking for them and being on the show for a second time around. 'Just being called back among such amazing chefs made me realise I'm also part of the great people,' she shared. Jean-Christophe Novelli sang high praises of the contestant and her presence on the show. 'You are unique, you've got the most amazing spirit and, for me, I believe you are a ray of sunshine in any kitchen,' he told Rue in a heartfelt speech. Speaking of her final cook with 10Play, Season 15's Rue was left disappointed after being eliminated in a challenge she considered to be her bread and butter. 'I really felt like this was a cook that I was supposed to shine in, and I didn't,' Rue said. 'I had done all these elements over a thousand times, and somehow that didn't show. You couldn't see that on the plate.'

MasterChef Australia fans notice bizarre detail in the show after fan favourite's heartbreaking elimination
Fan favourite Rue Mupedzi ended her MasterChef Australia Back to Win season with a heartbreaking elimination this week. But according to one eagle-eyed viewer, the 'dessert queen' had more than her fair share of screen time before hanging up her apron. The dedicated fan, who shared his findings on Reddit, noticed that it has been Rue who has been featured in the confessional spots 71 times over the last five weeks. Featured throughout each show, the short segments have contestants sharing their feelings about each challenge as the action in the kitchen unfolds. And according to one fan, Rue has been featured 71 times in the 'confessional'. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The viewer also calculated and ranked each one of the other contestants over the last five weeks including the remaining players. Coming in behind Rue with 56 appearances in the confessional was Ben Macdonald, followed by Laura Sharrad on 50. Audra Morrice and Callum Hann scored 48, according to the enterprising fan, while Sneznana Calic has appeared 44 times in the confessional. Sharing their findings to Reddit with a chart showing the name of the contestant and how many times they appeared in confessionals the user's share sparked online commentary about Rue's appearance on the show. 'Rue got way more screen time, even after an episode, of all the remaining contestants,' commented one viewer on the thread. Another joked, 'I won't be surprised if she remains in the top 10 despite not even making it through halfway through the competition. Queen!' It comes after Rue Mupedzi says she is setting herself up for a career in the culinary world after her shock elimination from the Back to Win season on Tuesday. Instead of hanging up her apron for good, the 29-year-old dental hygienist is planning on becoming a pastry chef. The WA-based kitchen star said her long-term plans included opening her own pastry shop. Elsewhere, Rue opened up about her return to MasterChef after her headline making appearance on the show in 2023. 'I still wanted to work really hard and do well, but the most important thing to me was to have a good time,' she said. 'Coming back was like riding a bike. It felt like I never left! I integrated back into the kitchen so quickly.' Rue suffered the heartache of a second MasterChef Australia elimination this week after a tricky pudding failed to impress the judges. Rue, Tim, Audra and Sarah were tasked with remaking Variations of Sourdough and Strawberry with Elderflower and Balsamic dessert from restaurant's Blayne Bertoncello. In the end, it was the dessert queen herself who was sent home over her grainy crème pâtissière. In tears, Rue told the judges that it had been an honour cooking for them and being on the show for a second time around. MasterChef Australia star announces huge career move after shock elimination
MasterChef Australia contestant Rue Mupedzi is setting herself up for a huge career in the culinary world after her shock elimination from the Back to Win season on Tuesday. Instead of hanging up her apron for good, the 29-year-old dental hygienist is planning on becoming a pastry chef. 'I still wanted to work really hard and do well, but the most important thing to me was to have a good time,' she said. 'Coming back was like riding a bike. It felt like I never left! I integrated back into the kitchen so quickly.' Rue scored a major win on her first go on the hit cooking competition, when she won one of the biggest prizes the contest has seen. The Zimbabwe-born cook was left speechless when she came first in an immunity challenge after judges fell in love with her sweet and spicy BBQ sauce recipe, BarbeRue. Not only was she free from elimination that week, she won the life-changing prize of having her sauce produced, packaged and sold in all Coles stores across Australia for a limited time. Rue suffered the heartache of a second MasterChef Australia elimination this week after a tricky pudding failed to impress the judges. Rue, Tim, Audra and Sarah were tasked with remaking Variations of Sourdough and Strawberry with Elderflower and Balsamic dessert from restaurant's Blayne Bertoncello. The dish included a strawberry sorbet which sat atop a sourdough-infused crème pâtissière, a strawberry gum emulsion, macerated strawberries, sourdough tuilles and fried elderflower crisps - all finished off with a balsamic gel. As Rue, Audra, and Tim all struggled with their emulsion, which split and was too runny when compared to Blayne's, the temperatures began to soar in the kitchen. In the end, it was the dessert queen herself who was sent home over her grainy crème pâtissière. In tears, Rue told the judges that it had been an honour cooking for them and being on the show for a second time around. Sourdough dessert challenge ends in tears as beloved MasterChef Australia: Back To Win contestant is sent home
MasterChef Australia: Back To Win said an emotional goodbye on Tuesday night's episode after a tricky pud packed the bags of a budding chef. It was never going to be an easy challenge when restaurant's Blayne Bertoncello walked through the MasterChef doors, especially when he introduced his Variations of Sourdough and Strawberry with Elderflower and Balsamic dessert. However, when Rue, Tim, Audra and Sarah were tasked with remaking the dish perfectly for five plates, the pressure was at an all time high. It soon became clear, this pressure test wasn't going to be a piece of cake. The dish included a strawberry sorbet which sat atop a sourdough-infused crème pâtissière, a strawberry gum emulsion, macerated strawberries, sourdough tuilles and fried elderflower crisps - all finished off with a balsamic gel. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. In tears, Rue told the judges that it had been an honour cooking for them and being on the show for a second time around. Jean-Christophe Novelli sang high praises of the contestant and her presence on the show. You couldn't see that on the plate.' On Sunday night's episode, another MasterChef Australia: Back To Win elimination saw a talented chef put down their skillet for the final time in an action-packed, temperature-rising cook-off. It was a lobster wonton that sent this ambitious candidate home following a prophetic insight and a broth that fell short. Seafood connoisseur Josh Niland challenged the MasterChef Australia participants with a dish famed for its easygoing nature - but easygoing it wasn't. The task was to create a surf and turf dish, with the chefs expected to put their own spin on the iconic food combo. Season 14 runner up Rhiannon Anderson, 48, who chose to make lobster wontons paired with beef broth, wasn't confident from the get-go, confessing in her piece to camera that she could be the one cooking for the last time in the MasterChef kitchen. And after ending up in the bottom three with Tim and Darrsh, she was proved right. 'It has to come back to flavour and texture, which is why I'm so sorry to say this, Rhi. I'm sorry, you're going home,' Andy Allen told the chef. An emotional Rhi dubbed her second time round on the show a 'bloody epic experience' as she held back tears. 'How many people get to come back to win and just do what I've just done? And I've had an absolute blast.' She went on to say that she'd be heading home to her husband and hopping right back into the kitchen. 'I'll just have to go home to Deano and cook him something. Not quite as much fun, but anyway.'

Rue got this: Perth MasterChef contestant Rue Mupedzi is feeling the fear and doing it anyway
WA's Rue Mupedzi is back competing on MasterChef again after placing seventh in 2023's season — and she's off to a flying start. Not only has she sailed through last week's Gordon Ramsay challenges, she also wowed guest judge Peter Gilmore with her incredible black forest dessert in last night's episode of the new Back To Win series, which gives 24 former contestants another crack at the MasterChef Australia title. But though the 32-year-old might look self-assured on screen, Mupedzi, who runs cooking courses and caters privately for clients while juggling work as a dental hygienist, admits she still suffers from a bad case of nerves. 'Being back in the MasterChef Kitchen is amazing, but I'm not going to lie: there are always nerves around me,' says the Zimbabwean-born aspiring chef, who moved to Western Australia in 2009 aged 15. 'I have to say though, because I was in the winning team in the first cook, and I had a pretty decent dish in last night's episode, I feel like that is really reaffirming,' she explains. '(It tells me) I am in the right place and I am just as deserving as these great people to be here.' Mupedzi is best known for winning a challenge on her season of the show that saw her homemade barbecue sauce — or BarbeRue Sauce, as it was comically called — stocked in Coles supermarkets around the country. 'Do you know, I still get Instagram messages to this day saying 'When is your sauce coming back?',' she says proudly. 'I have to remind people: you can make it — (the recipe) is on 10Play!' She says the experience of selling her sauce, plus her time on the series in 2023, was formative in deciding what course her life would take in the years since first appearing on the show. 'The (experience with the) sauce alone was phenomenal, but then I got to work in a pastry shop in Perth, called Whisked The Right Wei,' she explains. 'And I did quite a lot of private cheffing. I have now been all around Perth. '(The show) also gave me confidence; the confidence to solo travel for five weeks in Vietnam and Thailand, where I did cooking classes — that was just before I went back to MasterChef.' Before that phone call came, Mupedzi was back working in the dental surgery, raising funds to embark on an extended trip to France, where she planned to further her culinary skills with a course. She's now reassessing what comes next. 'If I am to take the title of MasterChef Australia, this will really frustrate my trip to France,' she says. 'Because initially I wanted to do a culinary course — I'd already inquired and everything — and the thing was, the judges really reaffirmed to me that I don't really need to do a course because I already have the skills. 'If anything, I'm better off getting some work experience.' And that's what she intends to do. But fans shouldn't be too worried — though Mupedzi plans to capitalise on her MasterChef opportunities, and still has plans to visit France, Perth will remain home. 'I will definitely stay in Perth, for sure, but (if I win) I will use that money to open a little dessert bar,' she says. 'I've always wanted to do a champagne and dessert bar, or a macaroon bar. 'I would definitely stay in Perth, but bring back that experience in France and establish something really unique here.' Watch this space.
