Holly Carpenter opens up on 'intimate and chilled' wedding plans as the big day nears

Former Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter is set to marry her Cork fiancé Jamie Hunt in an intimate family gathering next Tuesday, can reveal. Clontarf beauty Holly, who turned heads at Friday night's Style Awards in a show-stopping figure-hugging gold floor-length bespoke dress, told us that her wedding dress is dramatically different to her Style Awards creation. 'It's definitely not like my wedding dress,' laughed Holly. 'No, no, no, they are not similar at all.' Holly Carpenter pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy Holly, who was in a jubilant mood as she danced the night away at the VIP Style Awards in the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin, told that the next special dress she steps into will be her wedding gown. 'So next Tuesday, we're getting married legally in Charlotte Quay Restaurant,' said bride-to-be Holly. And the excited couple's wedding venue of choice holds special meaning for the soon-to-be-wed pair. 'It's the official registry ceremony and Charlotte Quay is the restaurant where we had our first date,' she said. And her big day is to be an intimate family affair. 'Evan Doherty is doing our wedding photos. He's obviously been friends for years, and then it's just 12 of us, so it's just our closest family, and it's going to be really intimate and chilled.' And ever the eternal optimist, Holly said nothing is going to rain on her wedding parade. 'The forecast looks like it might be raining, but it was raining on my mum and dad's wedding day, and it's apparently good luck. So if it's raining, it's raining. I'm just really looking forward to it.' Holly, who was in a jubilant mood as she danced the night away at the VIP Style Awards in the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin, told that the next special dress she steps into will be her wedding gown. Pic: Instagram/Holly Carpenter Holly's Dublin nuptials will be an emotional family affair as her father Karl, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, will be in attendance to see his only daughter marry. 'Dad is doing okay,' said Holly. 'He's up and down. It's been a lot for him, like, mentally, he's been quite anxious and stuff like that.' But the close-knit Carpenter family are rallying round and taking extra care of their dad. 'He is powering through, and mum's been just taking incredible care of him and all of that. So we're taking it one day at a time.'

Saucy slits to latex Irish stars dare to bare at Style Awards

Temperatures are rising on the VIP Style Awards carpet as Ireland's hottest stars strip down for the biggest night in fashion. From saucy slits to luscious latex, everyone who's anyone is daring to bare for this year's festivities, which seeks to celebrate the best of the best of Irish style. Leading the pack is Style Awards host Laura Fox, who opted for a fiery red number for presenting duties. Laura Fox pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy The 2FM host stunned in a fire engine red corset from Amory Co, which perfectly moulds to her torso, leaving little to the imagination. The dress also features a long satin skirt with a daring thigh high split that shows off her bronzed pins. Pamela Uba also went for a similar style, rocking a Dune inspired look by Nero Notte designs. Pamela Uba pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Picture: Brian McEvoy The dress also featured a moulded corset, with the former Miss Ireland pairing it with a hooded bolero and fitted white maxi skirt. Erica Cody wasn't afraid to bare it all on Friday night, with her black lacy number turning heads on the red carpet. The Rally Girl's dress features dramatic cut-outs and a sculptural, lace-like design that reveals much of her body. Along with the asymmetrical silhouette and open front skirt, Erica is certainly leading the stakes when it comes to sex appeal. Picture: Brian McEvoy Ciara Doherty had us doing a double take with her elegant black dress that features a sleek, figure-hugging silhouette with a striking plunging neckline. The neckline is uniquely sculpted with bold, curved edges, totally elevating a relatively simple garment. Yasmin Seky truly brought the drama to this year's carpet, stepping out in a show-stopping number featuring a deep plunging neckline and dramatic cap sleeves. Pic: Brian McEvoy A high front slit and waist cut outs add to the boldness of the design, while the voluminous, floor-sweeping train adds elegance. Speaking of plunging necklines, Jennifer Zamparelli dazzled in pink for the festivities, with her strapless gown featuring a dramatic v-neck line. The bubblegum dream dress was on loan from rented threads, with the Dancing With The Stars host keeping it simple in way of styling, opting for just strappy silver heels and a diamond choker. I think it's safe to say that saucy silhouettes were a firm favourite for this year's carpet. Check out more looks from the VIP Style Awards below! So with the red carpet rolled out and Uber's pulling up en masse, the preparation for the style parade has been days, if not weeks, in the works. Pic: Lynn Kelly/Instagram Between shopping, chopping and changing, fittings and flitting between, beauty and for a few Botox appointments, getting Style Awards ready is a rigorous routine. Racegoers soak up the sun at Aintree's Ladies Day

Racegoers have donned bright colours and extravagant hats to soak up the sun at Aintree's Ladies Day. About 50,000 people are expected at the Merseyside racecourse for the second day of the Randox Grand National Festival, which is known for its fashion. Punters enjoyed the April sunshine on Friday, which could be the UK's warmest day of the year so far. Ladies Day regular Gill Carpenter, 58, from Lydiate in Sefton, was one of many who had chosen a hot pink coloured outfit. She said: 'Aintree's special anyway but Aintree in the sun, you just can't beat it. I love a bit of pink, who doesn't love a bit of pink on Ladies Day?' She accessorised her off-the-shoulder dress with a huge handmade floral fascinator but said: 'It's surprisingly light, I can't really feel it. Ask me again at about 4pm!' Viv Jenner, 51, had also made her own headwear – a white and red fascinator with butterflies and feathers – but needed to ensure she was able to transport it from her home in Ascot. She said: 'My remit was that I needed a hat that I could fit in a hatbox that was compliant to the airline specifications. 'Because a lot of this is on wires, I was able to take it out of the box and unfold all the wires and it became literally twice the size.' Eilish Waters, 55, from Hexham, Northumberland, topped her red outfit off with a large hat in the shape of a rose which she said would help her husband Alex, 80, spot her in the crowd. She said: 'My sense of direction is rubbish so if I get lost he'll find me!' Racegoers were able to enter the annual Style Awards as they arrived at the course on Friday, with a £3,000 River Island voucher on offer for the two best-dressed. Hair salon owner Andrea Connell, 55, from Wigan, said she and the 11 friends she was at Aintree with spent almost a year planning their outfits. 'We have a group chat with everybody sharing ideas,' she said. Her friend Denise Alker, 75, from Bolton, added: 'We just absolutely love everything about Ladies Day. The feeling of the place, the ambience, it's just so wonderful, and of course you can't forget the racing.' Heather Burnside, 56, from Edinburgh, who co-ordinated a gold fascinator and dress, said the day combined her two passions – racing and glamour. She said: 'I saw the fascinator and then just got the rest of the outfit to go with it. 'I always like something that's a wee bit different so I thought this was spot on.' The race meet began on Thursday, when almost 23,000 people turned out for Opening Day, and will culminate on Saturday when the Grand National steeplechase is run.
