Heat 2's Expensive Budget Causes Setback, Leonardo DiCaprio In Talks To Star In Sequel - Jordan News

Leonardo DiCaprio's new movie, One Battle After Another, continues a trend that took 63 years to happen. One of the finest actors of his generation, DiCaprio has collaborated with many of the finest filmmakers of his generation, beginning with his breakout role in James Cameron's Titanic (1997), which became the highest-grossing film ever at the time of its release. اضافة اعلان However, it was Alejandro G. Iñárritu's The Revenant (2015) that finally won DiCaprio the Academy Award for Best Actor. Now, for his next film, DiCaprio is collaborating for the first time with director Paul Thomas Anderson. Inspired by Thomas Pynchon's novel Vineland, One Battle After Another stars DiCaprio as a former revolutionary who, when their enemy resurfaces after 16 years, must reunite with his fellow revolutionaries to rescue his daughter. The cast also includes two-time Oscar winner Sean Penn (Mystic River, Milk), Oscar winner Benicio del Toro (Traffic), Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Alana Haim (Licorice Pizza), and The Wire's Wood Harris. By way of Anderson's bold visual style, One Battle After Another continues a trend that was recently revived after 63 years and is now gaining major momentum once again. Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another continues VistaVision's revival, as will many more movies to come. VistaVision is a large, widescreen format that was developed by Paramount in 1954. It uses standard 35mm film, but is instead oriented horizontally to capture a wider image, while also resulting in a clearer and sharper picture, improving the overall image quality. VistaVision was used heavily by Paramount throughout the 1950s, including on some absolute classic, all-time great films, most notably Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo and North By Northwest. However, as finer-grain film became available, the format was phased out in the 1960s, as One-Eyed Jacks (1961) was the last American film shot entirely in VistaVision. However, in 2024, Brady Corbet's The Brutalist was the first major American movie to use VistaVision in 63 years, and it has started a real revival. Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, Yorgos Lanthimos' Bugonia, and Alejandro G. Iñárritu's untitled movie with Tom Cruise are all using VistaVision, which is pretty exciting. Filmmakers are reviving VistaVision for its high resolution, rich detail, and distinct sense of depth that digital formats often lack. After not being used for 63 years, filmmakers are reviving VistaVision for its high resolution, rich detail, and distinct sense of depth that digital formats often lack. In an age dominated by digital sheen, auteurs are bringing back the format for its analog elegance. VistaVision doesn't merely capture images, it sculpts them, making every frame feel etched into memory.

Leonardo DiCaprio Shows Off His ‘One Battle After Another' Tantrums in Sneak Peek of PTA's Crime Epic

Leonardo DiCaprio returned to the CinemaCon stage on Tuesday to present Paul Thomas Anderson's crime epic 'One Battle After Another.''He's tapped into something politically and culturally that has burrowed beneath our psyche. But it also a film that is so epic in scope and scale,' he said alongside Teyana Taylor and Regina Hall, who play two fellow fighters in a revolutionary group that reunites for the first time in 16 years to rescue the daughter of Bob Ferguson, played by DiCaprio. In the extended sneak peek, we see DiCaprio as Bob having an anxious phone conversation as he tries to find the location of his daughter from a contact who won't reveal information if he won't 'tell the time.' He pleads and threatens and insults the contact, named Comrade Joshua, to tell him what he wants to know. 'I want your commanding officer, or I'm calling in a Grayhawk Ten,' he hisses through restrained tears into the microphone while Comrade Joshua complains that Bob is attacking him with 'noise triggers.' If you want an idea of what Bob Ferguson's like, think of DiCaprio's performance as past-his-prime Hollywood star Rick Dalton in 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' constantly on the verge of a breakdown and trapped in a situation outside of his control no matter how many tantrums he throws. We also see a first look at Sean Penn as Colonel Steven Lockjaw, who is asked whether he has failed to protect the world as a military leader. Lockjaw coldly says that anyone who says that is a 'liar who doesn't belong in society.' Gunfights and explosions are also shown in the sneak peek of the film, which will be released in Imax 70mm and VistaVision this fall. Leonardo DiCaprio and Paul Thomas Anderson team up for ‘One Battle After Another'

The highly anticipated film One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, has released its official trailer. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio in his first collaboration with Anderson, the film follows the actor as Bob Ferguson, a quirky revolutionary on a mission to save his daughter. Inspired by Thomas Pynchon's 1990 novel Vineland, One Battle After Another features a star-studded cast, including Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn, Alana Haim, Benicio del Toro, Wood Harris, Shayna McHayle, and Chase Infiniti. The film blends dark comedy, political satire, and action, showcasing DiCaprio in a disheveled, eccentric role. The trailer begins with Bob, dressed in a bathrobe and beanie, struggling to remember codewords while using a payphone to call for backup. Benicio del Toro plays Bob's unconventional mentor, who teaches him how to live without fear—at one point, throwing him from a moving car. The trailer ends with Bob and his allies preparing for battle, shouting 'Viva la revolución!' Produced by Warner Bros., One Battle After Another was shot on 35mm film using VistaVision cameras, with filming in California and El Paso, Texas. Reports indicate a production budget between $100 million and $140 million, making it Anderson's most expensive film. This marks DiCaprio's first lead role since Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), while Anderson, an 11-time Oscar nominee, seeks his first Academy Award win. One Battle After Another hits theaters on September 26, with exclusive IMAX screenings.

Warner Bros. Sked Shakeup: ‘Weapons' Armed For August, Paul Thomas Anderson Moves To Fall, ‘The Bride' Walking Down Aisle In 2026 & So Much More…

Warner Bros has just made some razor-sharp release-date changes ahead of CinemaCon, ones that could potentially keep the Burbank, CA lot more toward the black this year than in the red. In a year when there were four $100 million-plus auteur-driven movies — one of which, Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17, recently misfired — Warners Bros distribution has taken the pressure off the studios' schedule in that regard, and even placed a potential tentpole into the year: Zach Cregger's anticipated genre movie on August 8. More from Deadline Behind The Scenes Of Zach Cregger's Extraordinary 'Weapons' Auction & Its Aftermath: The Dish Back In Action: Five Movie Directors Making A Welcome Return In 2025 Jonah Hill Eyeing To Star & Direct 'Cut Off' For Warner Bros Cregger's next movie after Barbarian was previously scheduled for MLK weekend 2026, on January 16. What kept Warners from moving the pic starring Josh Brolin, Julia Garner and Alden Ehrenreich was that the theatrical release was tied to Imax screens — can't give up those auditoriums. In fact, what made all of the release-date changes feasible for Warners was that each was tied to Imax bookings. As one insider called the release shifts revealed Wednesday, 'we lifted and shifted.' Weapons will go toe-to-toe with Disney's female-skewing sequel Freakier Friday. The Weapons move pushes Paul Thomas Anderson's priciest movie of his career, the Leonardo DiCaprio action comedy One Battle After Another, from August 8 to September 26 (which is where Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride! was). It was out there in the ether that the PTA movie, which also stars Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro and Regina Hall, would move; it just wasn't clear to where. What makes this date special is that Warners will not only have access to Imax hubs but also select theaters that play 70mm and VistaVision. Brady Corbet's 3x Oscar-winning The Brutalist shot in VistaVision. It's TBD if the PTA movie gets a fall film festival launch. Word is that it's not always his preference to launch that way, but he's done it before: His 2014 movie Inherent Vice (also a Warners release) premiered at the New York Film Festival, while 2012's The Master world premiered at Venice. PTA's latest, which reportedly costs around $140M, will now release opposite Lionsgate's Saw XI and Universal's Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie. The Bride! now will go on March 6, 2026, putting the genre movie in a month that has been primed for tentpoles, i.e., Legendary/Warner Bros' Dune: Part Two, A24's Everything Everywhere All at Once, Warner Bros' The Batman, and Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla vs. Kong. This was the movie that Warners saved after Netflix passed on the project. Warner Bros Pictures Animation's The Cat in the Hat, from directors Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, now rolls up one week from March 6, 2026 to February 27, 2026. That's a week before Disney/Pixar's Hoppers debuts on March 6. Also, the new date for Cat in Hat gives the family feature an advantage with some promotional opportunities overseas. Now Cat in the Hat, with a voice cast including Bill Hader, Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry and Paula Pell, will share the marquee with Paramount/Spyglass' Scream 7. Meanwhile, David Robert Mitchell's sci-fi movie Flowervale Street starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor goes from March 13, 2026 to August 14, 2026. The studio believes it's a commercial movie and has snapped up a better date to take advantage of last-minute summer audiences. Flowervale Street stands alone currently as the sole major-studio wide entry. Here's what Warner Bros' release-date schedule looks like now: March 21 — The Alto Knights April 4 — A Minecraft Movie April 18 (Easter weekend) — Sinners May 16 — Final Destination: Bloodlines June 27 — Apple Original Films' F1 July 11 — Superman August 8 — Weapons September 5 — Conjuring: Last Rites September 26 — One Battle After Another October 10 — Animal Friends October 24 — Mortal Kombat 2 November 21 — Untitled WB Event film December 19 — Untitled Event Film February 13 — Wuthering Heights February 27 — The Cat in the Hat March 6 — The Bride! Warner Bros. drops first teaser for ‘One Battle After Another' starring Leonardo DiCaprio

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first teaser for One Battle After Another, the highly anticipated film from writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Sean Penn, the film is set to hit theaters on September 26, 2025. The teaser offers a glimpse into the film's action-packed world, showing characters engaged in intense shootouts. One striking scene features Taylor's character, visibly pregnant, firing a rifle while DiCaprio's character calmly watches with a drink in hand. The teaser then jumps ahead, revealing the child grown up and mirroring her mother's actions, firing a gun of her own. 'Just when you think you got a handle on things,' a voice narrates as DiCaprio, now older with a goatee, takes aim through a gun scope. While plot details remain scarce, One Battle After Another is described as a contemporary action drama and one of Anderson's most expensive films to date, with a reported budget ranging between $100 million and $140 million. The film reunites Anderson with composer Johnny Greenwood and features supporting performances from Benicio del Toro, Wood Harris, Shayna McHayle, and Chase Infiniti. Filming began in January 2024 under the working title BC Project and primarily took place in California and El Paso, Texas. Anderson shot the film on 35mm VistaVision cameras, staying true to his signature cinematic style. With a full trailer expected next week, anticipation is building for what could be Anderson's most ambitious project yet. Stay tuned for more updates.
