Halle Berry's ex is skewered by fans for saying he left her because she didn't cook, clean, or seem 'motherly'

Halle Berry 's ex was slammed by fans of the actress after he revealed the reasons why he 'decided to leave' her back then.
Berry, 58, was previously married to David Justice for four years from 1993 to 1997.
Justice, a former baseball outfielder, said that he ended their marriage because she was not as 'motherly' as he had expected.
The MLB star, 59, said on the All the Smoke podcast with co-host Matt Barnes while reflecting on how his private life became highly publicized because of his past romance with the Catwoman star.
On the recent podcast episode, he admitted that he used to think: 'If we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with? And at that time, as a young guy, she don't cook, don't clean, don't really seem, like, motherly.'
He said that eventually he 'realized this isn't the person I wanted to spend my life with' but added that he later began to understand that the marriage could have been saved if he 'knew about therapy.'
However, his comments still sparked outrage as Berry's fans appeared to be appalled that he once wanted her to take on a stereotypical housewife role amid her busy acting job as her career in entertainment was taking off at the time.
'It's just that I, because I was young, had only been in honestly one real relationship before her. My knowledge and my understanding and my wisdom around relationships just wasn't vast.'
Many fans slammed Justice, a three-time MLB All-Star and two-time World Series winner who played with the Atlanta Braves and the New York Yankees during his 14 seasons in the league, for the 'audacity' of wanting the Oscar-winning actress to 'cook and clean.'
'Motherly? She was his partner, not his mom,' one social media user wrote on X as a slew of fans came to Berry's defense when Justice's comments went viral online.
'Imagine expecting Halle Berry, the first Black actress to earn $20m for a movie, the #1 most desirable woman in the world for decades, the first Black woman to win an Oscar, to stay home to cook and clean. Men and audacity,' another person tweeted.
'David Justice tryna make HALLE BERRY cook & clean is CRAZY work. TF was he thinkin,' a fan added alongside a GIF expressing their dismay.
'Halle Berry, a household name, was supposed to take time away from her breadwinning career to 'cook and clean' for a man I've never heard of?! LMAOOOO!
'According to their net worths, he needed to be the one throwing the apron on and cleaning the house too,' one person wrote about the MLB star and the famed actress.
Another person tweeted: 'David really expected THEE Halle Berry in her prime to be a stay at home housewife. Talk about an all-time fumble for Mr. Justice.'
'Motherly? She was his partner, not his mom,' one social media user wrote on X as a slew of fans came to Berry's defense when Justice's comments went viral online
'Men and audacity,' another person tweeted in response to the clip of Justice saying he 'couldn't see [Halle Berry] as the mother of his kids'
One person tweeted a laughing emoji and wrote: 'David Justice dead a** married Halle Berry and wanted her to fold clothes. Catwoman pushing a vacuum?'
Another fan tweeted: 'David's Justice comment about Halle Berry says more about his preferences than her worth. Plenty of great moms don't fit the "cook, clean, motherly" stereotype. Sometimes it's just a mismatch, not a measure of value.'
At the time of publication, Berry has not yet responded to his public comments from the recent podcast appearance.
In the same episode, Justice also said that he was upset with his ex-wife for not clarifying that he was not the ex she had that once physically abused her.
He also conceded that he deeply hurt her by leaving her suddenly rather than 'massaging' it or seeking 'therapy' in an attempt to mend their relationship.
Back in 1996, Berry told People that she had an abusive, unnamed ex, who once struck her in the head and ended up puncturing her eardrum, causing her to suffer from hearing loss.
'She let the world think it was me,' Justice said in the podcast episode. 'I thought she was dead wrong for that.'
He later added about their marriage, reflecting on their split decades later: 'I look back on that situation, and I'm like, that girl really did love me.'
'Halle Berry, a household name, was supposed to take time away from her breadwinning career to 'cook and clean' for a man I've never heard of?! LMAOOOO,' one person wrote about the MLB star and the famed actress
Another fan tweeted: 'David's Justice comment about Halle Berry says more about his preferences than her worth. Plenty of great moms don't fit the "cook, clean, motherly" stereotype. Sometimes it's just a mismatch, not a measure of value'
'And I can see why she would be so mad at me. Because imagine if you really love somebody and they tell you they want to break up, and there's nothing you can say to get them back. That had to have been tough on her.
'I didn't ease out,' he added before explaining that he was just 'gone' and 'could have massaged that better.'
Justice has been married to wife Rebecca Justice for 24 years and shares two children with her; meanwhile, Berry has been in a long-term relationship with Van Hunt for five years.
She was previously married to Oliver Martinez from 2013 to 2016 and also to her first husband Eric Benet from 2001 to 2005.
She is a mother to two children — daughter Nahla, 17, whose dad is Gabriel Aubry, and son Maceo, 11, with Martinez.

But it eventually vanished from public view and was thought to be lost, with only one copy remaining in the Pacific Film Archive, left there in the 1970s by director Murray Grigor. The film remained unseen by the public for years, until it was eventually rediscovered and restored by the BFI. In 2024, following a meticulous restoration that enhanced both its audio and colour, Big Banana Feet was finally given a new lease of life. It will now be shown on BBC Scotland on Saturday, August 23 at 9pm. The comic previously revealed how Dame Judi Dench kept a grave face - when she sent a selfie standing next to John Brown's tombstone. He gave one of his best ever screen performances playing the real-life Highland Ghillie opposite the Shakespearean actress as Queen Victoria in the 1997 Oscar-nominated film Mrs Brown. But 28 years on, the first Knight of comedy and the grand Dame of the stage have remained close friends, with Dench, 90, sending him a surprise snap of the servant's grave in Crathie Kirk where the royals have historically worshipped while staying at Balmoral. Speaking exclusively to The Scottish Sun from his home in Florida, Sir Billy says: 'We are great mates. She phones me all the time. 'She just sent me a message on my phone. Sir Billy Connolly honoured with BAFTA Fellowship - BAFTAS 2022 "She was standing at the grave of John Brown - the guy I played. She went to see him. She fell in love with him.' Sir Billy portrayed the fiercely loyal Brown, who became one of Queen Victoria's most trusted lieutenants during her 40 years of mourning following the death of her husband Prince Albert. It was even rumoured the Monarch and the Scotsman had a long running love affair. Asked if he had researched the royal aide before taking on the role, Sir Billy quipped: 'All I knew about Brown was he'd had it off with the Queen - what else do you need to know? 'But that's a magic movie. It's wonderful.'

Cillian Murphy plays impassioned headteacher in trailer for Netflix drama Steve

The drama is a reimagining of Max Porter's Sunday Times bestseller Shy, named after its protagonist, a teenager who boards at the school with a programme for troubled youths. The trailer shows Murphy's character describing himself to a film crew as 'very, very tired' amid clips of violence among pupils. In a voiceover, he adds: 'These are extraordinarily complex young people.' Other scenes sees Steve speaking to Shy, drinking an unknown substance from a small transparent bottle, and screaming while clenching his fists. I May Destroy You star Jay Lycurgo plays Shy, a troubled teenager who needs to reconcile with his past and control his impulses for self-destruction and violence. The movie shows Shy's interactions with Steve, who in turn is grappling with his mental health as he fights to protect the school from closure. Tracey Ullman as Amanda and Cillian Murphy as Steve (Robert Viglasky/Neflix/PA) Supporting cast include Tracey Ullman and Emily Watson, who starred with Murphy in the Irish drama Small Things Like These. Murphy, 49, who is a producer for Steve, won a Bafta and Oscar last year for his title role in Sir Christopher Nolan's epic, Oppenheimer. He plays Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby in TV hit series Peaky Blinders, which is being turned into a film for Netflix which will also star Saltburn's Barry Keoghan. Steve is in select cinemas from September 19 and on Netflix from October 3.

Netflix comedy from Dexter's Laboratory creator slammed as 'incredibly disgusting' by viewers

Viewers have reported switching it off just minutes in Netflix viewers have been switching off a brand new comedy film on the platform within minutes, branding it "insufferable" and "incredibly disgusting." ‌ Launched on the streaming service today (August 13), Fixed centres on a dog called Bull (voiced by Adam Devine) who learns he's about to be castrated and embarks on one final adventure with his mates. ‌ He also plans to woo the pedigree pooch he fancies next door, Honey (Kathryn Hahn), before going under the knife. ‌ The animated comedy was crafted by Genndy Tartakovsky, a five-time Emmy Award-winning filmmaker behind Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack, reports the Mirror. Netflix's synopsis states: " From visionary director Genndy Tartakovsky comes Fixed, an adult animated comedy about Bull, an average, all-around good dog who discovers he's going to be neutered in the morning! "As the gravity of this life-altering event sets in, Bull realizes he needs one last adventure with his pack of best friends as these are the last 24 hours with his balls! What could go wrong...?" The stellar cast also features Idris Elba as Rocco, Fred Armisen as Fetch and Bobby Moynihan as Lucky. Yet despite the celebrity talent involved, it has struggled to win over audiences from the get-go. "Fixed genuinely is insufferable and I'm only like five minutes in," one viewer began, adding: "I genuinely hate this. This is just corny sex jokes. I don't wanna see an animated dog's b******* flap while he's humping a grandma's leg." ‌ Another viewer abandoned the show after just the trailer, commenting: "It seemed incredibly disgusting (like worse than Big Mouth) just from the three second clip I watched while hovering over the title. Will absolutely not be investigating further," whilst a third disappointed Netflix subscriber added: "I still wanna know HOW were the voice actors talked into doing this." Not every viewer reacted so strongly to the film though. Defending the production, one supporter commented: "Just watched it. It's passable, wasn't as bad as the trailers made me think it would be but it's not a masterpiece by any means, great animation though." Speaking to Netflix's Tudum, Tartakovsky revealed how the cast was assembled: "Some of the material is a bit raunchy so we had to find people that were receptive to our sense of humor, and boy, did we. "I remember a moment where Kathryn Hahn read the script and called us - she wanted her character to be as raunchy as the other guys. It was a great note. We then rewrote her character to be reflective of that idea and she absolutely killed it."
