Lana Del Rey and Ethel Cain spark social media feud over new song lyrics
In the Instagram post, Del Rey is seen sitting in her car while the track plays. The opening lyrics reference Cain directly: 'Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post / Think it's cute reenacting my Chicago pose.'
Online comparisons quickly surfaced showing similar photographs of both artists posing with musician Jack Donoghue, formerly linked to Del Rey. Donoghue was photographed with Del Rey outside Cook County Jail in Chicago in July 2022, while a similar image featuring Cain and Donoghue dates back to 2021.
Later in the track, Del Rey sings, 'The most famous girl at the Waffle House,' a phrase connected to Cain through a 2022 New York Times article. Del Rey herself was photographed working at a Waffle House in Alabama in 2023 as part of a publicity stunt.
Following the clip's release, Cain posted on her Instagram Story, 'Update: Lana Del Rey has blocked Ethel Cain on Instagram.'
Cain recently released her album Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You, earning a five-star review from Far Out magazine. Del Rey, meanwhile, has been working on a new album originally announced in November 2024 with a planned May 2025 release. Though delayed and renamed, the album will feature collaborations with Luke Laird, Jack Antonoff, Zach Dawes, and Drew Erickson. Two tracks have already been released, with another teased during her Stagecoach Festival performance in April 2025.

Are Connor Franta and Troye Sivan rekindling romance?
YouTuber Connor Franta ignited fan excitement with a throwback Instagram post featuring a cropped photo of himself with singer Chappell Roan. The full shot—recently reposted by Troye Sivan—also includes both Franta and Roan, highlighting early connections among the trio. Sivan later clarified he found the image online, joking, 'FYI I found that pic online doing my weekly Google of 'troye sivan and chappell roan', not my crop!' In response, Franta's own post appeared in a similar style, captioned simply 'my good side.' The phrase immediately sparked speculation among fans that it references Troye Sivan's emotional 2018 single The Good Side. The acoustic ballad—part of his album Bloom—serves as an open letter to an ex-boyfriend, with Sivan stating the sentiment: 'I happened to be on the good side of things' while the other person endured more heartbreak. While neither Franta nor Sivan has officially confirmed the song is about their past relationship, Franta appeared to hint at it during a 2024 podcast appearance, suggesting a previous romantic involvement with Sivan. This follows his recent revelation on the web series Obsessed with Brooke Averick that he and 'my boyfriend at the time' discovered Chappell Roan's music together in 2014—seemingly confirming long-running fan suspicions about 'Tronnor.' With this latest exchange of nostalgic visuals, lyrical nods, and callbacks to their early connection with Roan, fan fervor continues to grow. Whether playful or pointed, these social media moments underscore how a simple caption, throwback photo, and song reference can reignite old stories and emotional connections.

Nicki Minaj praises Lana Del Rey's new song amid Ethel Cain feud references
Nicki Minaj is playfully obsessed with Lana Del Rey's latest lyrical jab in her upcoming album, sharing her infatuation via an exuberant tweet. Minaj confessed, 'I've been singing 'Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post' all morning. Help!!!!!' She marveled at how the melody, instruments, background vocals, and mixing are so intoxicating that she can't stop humming—even though she doesn't know Ethel Cain or own the post referred to. I've been singing 'Ethel cain hated my instagram post' all morning. Help!!!!! And something about the Waffle House & a picture w/some boy? But how can a melody & instruments & background vocals & the mixing be so good that I'm walking around all day talking about a person named… — Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) August 15, 2025 The lyric originates from a teased snippet of Del Rey's new song—possibly titled Track 13 or 'All About Ethel'—which opens: 'Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post / Think it's cute reenacting my Chicago pose.' The reference appears to call back to a 2022 Instagram photo Del Rey shared with then-partner Jack Donoghue outside Chicago's Cook County Jail, which Ethel Cain mirrored in her own post soon after. The two artists have since exchanged subtle jabs online, with Cain claiming Del Rey blocked her and Del Rey accusing Cain of body-shaming her through side-by-side images. Minaj didn't stop there. In a follow-up tweet, she joked about Del Rey's unapologetic style, writing: Remember that time Lana dissed all the girlies but we had no idea why but none of us said anything back? Lmaooooo not we let Lana walk in the lunchroom & run EVERYBODY pockets wit no weapon & no gang & said not one thing about it. Lmfaooooo. AYO🤣 I fkng love this shit yo. 😩😂 — Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) August 15, 2025 Between the biting lyric, the real-life drama, and Minaj's playful commentary, the track has already cemented itself as a pop culture moment — and it's not even officially out yet.

Why has 'The Hunting Wives' taken Netflix by storm?
Netflix's latest hit, The Hunting Wives, has surged to the top of the streaming platform's US charts, combining small-town murder, political culture clashes and unapologetically steamy storytelling. Based on May Cobb's 2021 novel, the series stars Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Dermot Mulroney, Chrissy Metz and Katie Lowes. Originally planned for release on Starz, the project was dropped by the network just weeks before its premiere. Lionsgate then moved it to Netflix, exposing the drama to a much larger audience. Creator and showrunner Rebecca Cutter credits its success to embracing pulp fiction elements without restraint. The plot follows Sophie O'Neil, played by Snow, a coastal career woman from Cambridge who relocates to the fictional Texan town of Maple Brook. There she becomes entangled with a clique of wealthy, gun-carrying women who call themselves 'wives' rather than workers. The show layers mystery and murder over a backdrop of right-versus-left culture wars, making it both provocative and binge-worthy. Online chatter has centred heavily on the show's intimate moments, which include sapphic encounters, threesomes and secluded cabin scenes. Cutter admitted she initially questioned whether the sheer number of these moments would help or harm the show but ultimately leaned into it. Social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Reddit have been flooded with fan reactions, many joking about questioning their sexuality after watching. The show's popularity has also driven a huge spike in book sales, with The Hunting Wives jumping 5,000 percent on Amazon and landing in its top 10. Fans are particularly praising Akerman's portrayal of Margo Banks, the ringleader of the wives, and the contrast between the characters' exploration of desire and the conservative setting of the Texan community. Brittany Snow recently joked on Late Night With Seth Meyers that her mother's friends had to fast-forward through most episodes due to the number of intimate scenes. With its mix of drama, intrigue and unapologetic storytelling, The Hunting Wives shows no signs of losing momentum.
