Brandon Blackstock's daughter Savannah Blackstock Lee revealed pregnancy just a month before his death
Brandon is Kelly's former husband and the father of her two children, River and Remington Blackstock.
They were together from 2012 to 2022.
He had Savannah Blackstock Lee and Seth Blackstock with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth, who he was married to from 2001 until 2012.
Brandon died following a three-year battle with cancer, his representative said on Thursday. He was 48.
'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,' a spokesperson for Blackstock said in a statement.
'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.'
Savannah Blackstock Lee, 23, shared on July 5 that she is expecting a second child with her husband, as reported by People.
The announcement came just one month before her father's death.
'We've been keeping a couple sweet surprises,' she wrote in a post on her now-private Instagram account.
'One little girl will be making her arrival at the beginning of January and another beautiful girl named Julianna who has already been one of the greatest blessings to our family.'
Kelly announced on Wednesday that she was postponing the rest of her Studio Session concerts in Las Vegas this month to support her family.
The American Idol star told fans on Instagram that she was prioritising the needs of her loved ones.
'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,' wrote the three-time Grammy winner.
Kelly and Brandon divorced in March 2022. Their daughter River Rose was born in 2014, and son Remington Alexander was born in 2016.
She and the children reside in New York City, where she also hosts a daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Brandon's father, Narvel Blackstock, was once married to Reba McEntire, thus making the country music legend his one-time stepmother.
Legal battles after bitter split
Kelly and Brandon separated in 2020 after seven years of marriage and were embroiled in legal battles as they tried to resolve their complicated business entanglements.
Shortly after Kelly filed for divorce, Starstruck Entertainment, the management company run by her former father-in-law, sued her for millions in allegedly unpaid fees.
Starstruck claimed it had 'invested a great deal of time, money, energy and dedication' into her career and had 'developed Clarkson into a mega superstar'.
Kelly responded by filing a complaint with California's Labour Commissioner, arguing that Starstruck had violated California's Talent Agencies Act by serving not only as her personal manager but also as unlicensed talent agents who booked business deals.
In November 2023, Commissioner Lilia Garcia-Brower ruled that Brandon had procured a number of deals for Kelly — including her role as a judge on the American version of The Voice — that should have been handled by her talent agents at Creative Artists Agency.
That decision meant Brandon had to repay his ex-wife $US2.6 million, or about $A3.96 million.
After their divorce, Kelly agreed to pay her ex-husband monthly child support of almost $A70,000 for their two children plus a one-off payment of $A1.98 million.
In March 2024, Kelly filed another lawsuit against Brandon, this time claiming Starstruck had violated state labour laws by acting as unlicensed talent agents.
Brandon's lawyer Bryan Freedman denounced Kelly's new lawsuit in a statement to Rolling Stone, saying it was 'morally, ethically and legally wrong to attempt to get monies back from your ex-husband who not only helped her as her manager but who used those earnings on their children and Kelly and Brandon's lifestyle during the marriage'.
By May 2024, the former couple's legal issues were settled when they both withdrew their cases.

'A proper f****** rock band': Chrissie Hynde had the best time seeing Oasis live with pal Johnny Marr
Chrissie Hynde says the Oasis Live '25 Tour is "exactly what the world needs right now". The Pretenders frontwoman attended one of the Britpop legends' Wembley Stadium gigs with old bandmate Johnny Marr, and also bumped into supermodel Kate Moss - who, she says, "missed her calling" as a singer. Updating fans on Instagram , she penned: 'James and I went with @johnnymarrgram to see @oasis the other week. They were great as one would expect.' Praising support act Richard Ashcroft, she said: 'Saw a bunch of old pals in the audience and was dancing with Kate Moss to support act, the excellent voiced @richardashcroftofficial." She continued: 'I always remind Kate that she missed her calling, and could've been a singer. She reminded me that, 'For me, it was either Woolworths or modelling.' Because Kate rarely does interviews (unlike every other celebrity on the planet) people don't know what a riot she is. Well, she is, and now you know…' Moving on to the main event, the 73-year-old rocker hailed the Supersonic hitmakers - who are playing their first concerts in 16 years, after brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher put their long-standing feud behind them - "a proper f****** rock band". She said: 'Oasis were in great form. 'There is still nothing better than a rock band doing their thing with a minimal light show and no extra people cluttering the stage. In other words, a proper f****** rock band! Exactly what the world needs now.'

'That's leader behaviour': Former PM spotted taking on a surprising job
Drivers in a busy Sydney car park were surprised to find an unusual guide for exiting traffic - former prime minister Tony Abbott. Mr Abbott was filmed holding the boom gate of an underground car park open with one hand as he waved cars through with the other. The Pitt Street car park was reportedly battling congestion when the former PM decided to assist. It is unclear when the footage was filmed, but since was shared to the Instagram account Humans of Eastwood Daily, it quickly garnered thousands of likes and comments. "From budgie smuggler to car smuggler, a man of many talents," one person replied. Another said she was impressed, "that's leader behaviour". "He was always a worker. Bushfire CFA volunteer, surf lifesaver, he did a lot more civil service than most pollies," said another. Mr Abbott is well known for jumping in at times of crisis, in a personal capacity, including volunteering with the NSW Rural Fire Service. During the Black Summer bushfires he was seen working to save homes. Despite the good deed, others could not look past the 28th prime minister's other endeavours. "Remember the time he ate an onion," one quipped. Another said it was the "best thing Tony Abbott's done". Entourage star's rude label for Perth after recent visit
Best known for his work as no-filter film agent Ari Gold in HBO's Entourage, TV star Jeremy Piven has proven he hasn't quite shaken the character after labelling Perth the 'meth capital of Australia'. Attending the premiere of his latest film Primitive War in Sydney on Monday night, Piven was pushed to name his 'favourite place' Down Under after an extended period touring his stand-up show. But the comic's initial remarks were far from complimentary, at least towards the west coast. 'In the middle of my tour, we headed over to Perth, which is the meth capital of Australia... I don't know if you know that,' he told DailyMail. 'And so in the spirit of Donald Trump, I want to rename Perth, 'Merth'. The 60-year-old performed at Mt Lawley's Astor Theatre on August 6, following an East Coast jaunt that featured stops in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, and later Adelaide. 'The reality is, I went to a cigar bar called The Social Club there and it was one of the best cigar lounges I've ever been to in my life,' he revealed. The two-time Emmy winner may have been referring to Cigar Social, a private, members-only cigar lounge in West Perth. PerthNow reached out to Cigar Social, with the venue choosing not confirm nor deny Piven's attendance. Speaking more broadly about his stand-up tour, the actor reflected on the warm reception he'd received across the nation. 'Every stop that I had, whether it was the Enmore Theatre here in Sydney or going to Melbourne and playing Hamer Hall, they were some of the best times I've ever had in my life,' he said. 'Sold out houses... It was just incredible. I loved it.' Jeremy Piven stars in Numbered Lives. It follows Piven's other Aussie production Numbered Lives, a thriller shot in South Australia last year that was released nationally earlier this month.
