Awareness rally marks International Day against Drug Abuse in Yadgir
The programme was organised by the Home Department.
Deputy Commissioner B. Susheela, who participated as chief guest in the rally, said that consumption of drugs not only impacts human beings but also is against the interests of the nation.
'Good habits can bring good changes among human beings. A bad habit like consumption of drugs and alcohol will damage the human body. We all should stand against such activities and protect valuable lives for the future,' Dr. Susheela said.
Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar said that now-a-days people claiming to be from reputed families are consuming drugs and material that intoxicate to beat stress and for temporary satisfaction.
The Home Department is taking strict steps to prevent drug menace. 'Nevertheless, the general public can raise complaints through an app developed by the department,' Mr. Shankar said.
Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat Lavish Ordia also spoke about people who are addicted to alcohol and drugs avoiding family and friends. Proper vigilance is needed to prevent them from such addiction, he added.
Kumari Shilpa performed yogasanas, while a drama was staged to create awareness against drugs.
District Health Officer Mahesh Biradar, physician Veeresh Jaka, Senior Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations Department Suleman Nadaf, Deputy Director of Mines and Geology Purnima, Deputy Superintendents of Police Bharat Kumar and Javeed Inamdar, Raju Bavihalli and others were present.

He allegedly promised Rajapandi to get a job in a courier firm in Russia for salary of Rs 70,000- Rs 1 lakh. For this, he collected more than Rs 2.35 lakh in several instalments since November 2024 On May 31 this year, Rajapandi was told to travel to New Delhi for his flight to Russia.

Missing Madhya Pradesh lawyer found in U.P.'s town on Nepal border after 12 days
A female lawyer and Civil Judge aspirant, Archana Tiwari, who was reported missing while travelling on a train nearly two weeks ago, was traced in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Khiri town on the Nepal border on Tuesday (August 19, 2025), a police official said. Ms. Tiwari, who was heading to Katni from Indore on the intervening nights of August 7-8 for the Rakshabandhan festival, did not reach her destination and was missing since then. 'Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel finally traced Archana Tiwari in Lakhimpur-Khiri town on the Indo-Nepal border after 12 days of hectic search,' Superintendent of Police (Railways) Rahul Kumar Lodha said. Cops are bringing her back to Bhopal and after recording her statement, details of the entire episode will be known, he said. Ms. Tiwari's kin earlier suspected that she was a victim of human trafficking and sought a CBI probe, but Mr. Lodha did not say anything about this angle. According to police, the last location of the 29-year-old lawyer was traced to Itarsi station. After that, her mobile phone was found switched off. Ms. Tiwari was a practising lawyer at the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. She was also preparing for a civil judge examination. She left for Katni on August 7 by the Narmada Express train but did not reach her destination. Ms. Tiwari's family members later lodged a missing person complaint at the Rani Kamalapati GRP police station in Bhopal. Police searched for clues in areas ranging from Rani Kamalapati station to Itarsi and Katni and scanned CCTV cameras of stations and surrounding areas. Mr. Lodha said Ms. Tiwari's last location was Itarsi station.

Collector instructs enhanced monitoring of urea usage
Ongole: Prakasam district collector A Thameem Ansariya has directed officials to ensure strict monitoring of urea allocated to the district, preventing its misuse for non-agricultural purposes. During a district-level coordination committee meeting held at her camp office in Ongole, Ansariya announced the formation of a multi-departmental committee comprising DSO, Industries, Labour, Excise, Pollution Control Board, DTC, Vigilance and Enforcement, Police, and Agriculture officials. The collector ordered comprehensive inspections in coordination with the civil supplies department, plywood/resin and paints/varnish manufacturing units, industries, and pollution control departments. She instructed continuous surveillance through Vigilance, Transport, and Police departments to prevent unauthorised transportation of subsidised urea to neighbouring states. The officials explained to the collector that for the current Kharif season (April-August), the district requires 54468 metric tons of urea. Currently, 30597 metric tons remain available after distributing 30565 metric tons from the 34051 metric tons supplied so far, they informed.
