Ranchi: Ahead of the
Congress party
's "
Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan
" scheduled for Tuesday, Jharkhand Congress in-charge K Raju on Monday appealed to the Union govt to adopt the '
Telangana model
' for conducting caste-based surveys across the country.
Addressing the media on Monday, Raju said Congress has been demanding a
caste-based survey
for the last several years but met with apathy from the govt. "Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tagged those who demanded the caste survey as "Urban Naxals". Now that the Centre has agreed to conduct the caste survey, we appeal to them to adopt the Telangana model while conducting the survey. The Congress-led govt in Telangana has successfully conducted the caste survey and has emerged as a successful model," Raju said.
He added that the census conducted every 10 years gave very little information about the population. "However, Telangana conducted an extensive caste survey extracting various information about the castes which later could be used for the overall development of people. So, it's our demand that the Centre follows the model and declare a timeline for the survey. They also should publish all information for the knowledge of the public," Raju said, acknowledging the importance of caste-based survey in ensuring social justice and empowerment to all.
Senior Congress leaders, including AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and party general secretary K C Venugopal, former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel will join the state-wide "Samvidhan Bachao Yatra" on Tuesday. The rally will also be organised in all district within a week.
Raju said during the rally, the party would raise three demands. "First will be on withdrawing the arbitrary 50% ceiling on reservation, so that reservation can be granted based on population. We will inform the people about the importance of removing the ceiling during the rally. Second and most importantly, the declining monetary allocation in the Union budget for the SC and ST in the last 11 years will also be highlighted. The third focus will be on the issue of reservation of seats in private institutes for SC and ST students," Raju said.
After the rally, an executive committee meeting of the state Congress unit will be convened in Ranchi, where the AICC president and other senior party leaders will be present. In the meeting, many important decisions for the party would be taken, Raju added.

Asaduddin Owaisi files police complaint over deepfake video promoting scam

AIMIM chief files a police complaint after a deepfake video falsely promoting a scam using his identity goes viral online. Police register case; probe underway to trace origin New Delhi The Hyderabad police have registered a case after a deepfake video of AIMIM president and member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi surfaced online, falsely linking him to an investment scheme. Owaisi, who has in recent days emerged as one of the most trenchant critics of Pakistan's terror activities in the wake of the Pahalgam attacks, had urged authorities to instruct social media platforms to remove the fake video, file a case, and trace those responsible. The AI-generated video used Owaisi's face and voice, along with several other public figures, to mislead viewers into thinking he was endorsing a investment plan, police said on Saturday. The video falsely claimed that the scheme could yield returns of ₹53,000 per day. According to the Hyderabad MP's complaint, the video directed people to a fake website, putting them at risk of financial loss. "The video was created and uploaded along with malicious content to lure innocent people and to make false propaganda in my name," Owaisi stated in his police complaint. Police added that the video also included AI-generated visuals of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani, and Infosys founder Narayana Murthy. Following Owaisi's complaint, the Cyber Crime Police Station registered a case on June 5 under relevant provisions of the IT Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a senior officer confirmed on Saturday. An investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to take down the video from all platforms, the officer added.

Bandi Sanjay inaugurates road Works worth Rs 31.12 crore in Karimnagar

Karimnagar, June 7 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar asserted that the Narendra Modi-led Central Government is giving top priority to road construction and infrastructure development across the country. He said that the Karimnagar Parliament constituency is witnessing significant internal road development under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme, with works worth Rs 31.12 crore currently underway. The Union Minister inaugurated a newly constructed internal road in Qazipur village of Kothapalli mandal on Saturday. The road, completed under the Employment Guarantee Scheme, was built for Rs14 lakh. He later laid the foundation stone for a market shed in Asif Nagar, Kothapalli Mandal, which is being taken up with Rs 9.50 lakh from the MP Local Area Development (MPLADS) funds. Speaking at the event, Bandi Sanjay said, 'This year alone, Rs 74 lakh has been allocated for road construction in Kothapalli Mandal. I am pleased to inaugurate this road in Ghazipur, which is part of a broader initiative to enhance rural connectivity under the employment scheme.' Highlighting the Centre's extensive efforts in road infrastructure, he informed that under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), Rs 291 crore has been spent in the Karimnagar Parliamentary segment, resulting in the construction of 1,341 km of roads. Additionally, hundreds of crores have been utilized under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to build roads in remote villages. He noted that nearly Rs 5,000 crore has been spent on National Highway works in Karimnagar Parliament. 'Highway projects between Karimnagar-Warangal and Siddipet-Elkathurthi are progressing rapidly. We are also set to begin construction of the Karimnagar-Jagityala highway very soon,' he added. Referring to the Rajiv Gandhi Highway, he said the Central Government is ready to widen it using National Highway funds. However, he pointed out that the road is currently under a state-level maintenance contract. 'If the state government resolves the issue with the existing contractor and submits proposals, we are prepared to take up the widening project without delay,' he assured. UNI VV BD

Rahul Gandhi's Interaction With Bihar Woman Goes Viral. The Topic: Marriage

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's visit to Bihar led to an interesting interaction between him and Riya Paswan, also known as 'Pad Girl' on social media. During a Mahila Samwad programme in Gaya, Ms Paswan told Rahul Gandhi that he had inspired her to join politics. She then added that just like him, she will never get married. In a video, shared on X (formerly Twitter), Ms Paswan, who lives in a slum area, said she owed her progress in life to the Shakti Abhiyan, an initiative by the Congress to increase women participation in politics. Ms Paswan explained that politics is the first step to improve different sectors, such as education, but many people do not join the field, especially women. 'We have a very big team in the slum areas. We made this during the Shakti Abhiyan itself. We try to solve the small problems of the people. Now it has become such that if people have any problem, they come to us,' she added. Impressed by her confidence, Rahul Gandhi replied, 'You give good speeches.' An excited Riya Paswan added, 'Like you, I am also thinking of never getting married,' prompting laughter from the audience. She continued, 'I want to become a leader and work for the public. I want to join politics because when I entered the Shakti Abhiyan, I realised what politics actually is.' Riya Paswan gained fame in 2022 when she questioned a bureaucrat, IAS officer Harjot Kaur Bhamra, about providing free sanitary pads. Rahul Gandhi was on a one-day trip to Bihar on June 6, ahead of the Assembly elections, which are expected to be held in November. He criticised the JDU and BJP-led state government during his tour of the poll-bound state. While addressing a gathering in Rajgir's Nalanda, chief minister Nitish Kumar's home district, the Congress leader accused the JDU-BJP alliance of turning Bihar from the 'land of knowledge' to the country's 'crime capital'.
