In light of these new developments, McLaurin has been a hot topic in and around the NFL. Among those to weigh in with their thoughts was Will Blackmon on Friday's installment of Good Morning Football. The former champion tossed out the idea of the Pittsburgh Steelers being a landing spot for McLaurin.
"If anybody, it would be somebody either who is like Super Bowl ready or someone who is truly going all in," Blackmon said. "I look at someone like the Steelers. Right now, they're in a situation where yes you went and got Aaron Rodgers because you are truly going all in. Why not have two No. 1s out there if you're really trying to make it happen?"

The Steelers' window with Rodgers under center is tight, as the former MVP has stated that this will likely be his last season in the NFL. Pittsburgh already went out and got him one viable target in DK Metcalf. Giving Rodgers a deep-ball threat like McLaurin would certainly increase their chances of making a run at the Super Bowl.

When it comes to McLaurin's failed extension talks, price remains the biggest roadblock. Coming off a fifth straight 1,000-yard season, he feels he has earned a deal comparable to the highest earners at his position.
On the other hand, the Commanders are cautious to give such a lucrative contract to a receiver who is soon going to be on the wrong end of 30.
Seeing that Washington doesn't want to trade McLaurin, a new contract remains as the most realistic outcome to this saga. With no developments of talks improving at all, it remains unclear when things will come to an end.
As all this drags on, McLaurin remains on the PUP list due to an ankle injury.

Dolphins, DT Zach Sieler agree on a $67.75 million contract extension
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Defensive lineman Zach Sieler and the Miami Dolphins on Sunday agreed on a three-year contract extension worth up to $67.75 million, including $44 million guaranteed. Agent Drew Rosenhaus confirmed the deal, which was first reported by ESPN. Sieler, a leader of Miami's defense, seemed likely to get a raise after consecutive 10-sack seasons with two interceptions — one returned for a touchdown in 2023 — 118 total tackles, 24 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. A seventh-round pick by Baltimore in 2018, Sieler was waived by the Ravens in his second season and claimed off waivers by the Dolphins in 2019. During his six years in Miami, Sieler has become one of the league's most productive defensive tackles with 30 sacks in 65 starts. Sieler, who turns 30 in September, had two years left on a deal that he signed in 2023, which paid him $10.25 million annually. He's now signed through the 2029 season. Sieler has been a full participant in Dolphins training camp despite ongoing contract talks. 'I hope the message that it puts out is at the end of the day, we're going to play football,' he said earlier in camp. "Now, obviously that stuff is very important. That stuff is very important to me; the respect and the money that my family gets and makes from this game, we give it all on the line every single day. "I'm going to continue to do that every day, but to be able to go out there and work despite everything, I think I'm trying to show that you can go out there and play your best ball and still work through stuff without having to compartmentalize things.' It didn't go unnoticed by the Dolphins, especially as Miami hopes to establish a new culture of accountability this upcoming season. 'I think you define yourself by your actions, most of all in life," coach Mike McDaniel said Friday. "I'm very aware that all players have a choice in what they do on a day-to-day basis. ... Colorado football currently has four receivers on NFL training camp rosters who were on the team last season. Other than the Jaguars' Travis Hunter, the standout has been Carolina Panthers rookie Jimmy Horn Jr. Horn was a sixth-round pick by the Panthers in the 2025 NFL draft, but after a fantastic offseason, he is looking like a steal of the draft. With his speed and toughness, Horn is everything a team would want out of a sixth-round receiver. In a recent mock scrimmage at Bank of America Stadium, Horn impressed once again, scoring the first touchdown for the second team offense. Horn was in motion before the snap and then snuck underneath, and quarterback Andy Dalton found him for an easy walk into the endzone. While it was not a typical go-ball that the speedy Horn should see plenty of this season, it was a play that Colorado ran a ton with Horn. Get him the ball in space and let his open-field ability do the rest. Panthers head coach Dave Canales has loved what he has seen from the rookie receiver so far. "I think it's the energy he plays with," said Canales to "He doesn't quit on routes, he continues after the normal part of the protection he can count on, he continues to find space and play fast, and, it's a credit to his fitness, but it's also a credit to just the energy that he puts out there, that you want to throw to him." While sixth-round picks are far from guaranteed to make the final 53-man roster, Horn's performances through the offseason have made it almost a forgone conclusion that he makes Carolina's final group. Dolphins give DT Zach Sieler, three-year extension worth up to $67.75 million
In an offseason of change, the Miami Dolphins have made a sizable commitment in a franchise player. Miami made Zach Sieler the team's highest-paid defensive player, giving him a three-year extension worth up to $67.75 million. He had two years left on his three-year, $30.75 million contract and now gets $44 million guaranteed on his latest extension. Sieler struggled to get on the field during the first three seasons of his NFL career, but he's become a reliable part of a struggling Miami defensive line. Sieler has now had back-to-back 10-sack seasons, and now he'll be paid accordingly. Last season, he earned a 78.6 Pro Football Focus grade, making him the 12-highest rated defensive lineman in the league. There were questions about what his availability would be during training camp, but the 29-year-old veteran showed up for the pre-season program. He missed the voluntary OTA period but was present for mandatory minicamp and training camp. And when asked about the contract situation, he was confident the team would pay him appropriately. "I do feel that respect coming and I feel like I've earned it; I know I've earned it," Sieler said in late July. "I know I have the best years ahead of me. I didn't play for three years in the NFL. I only played two and a half in college. So, you really think about it like I got less years under my belt than some rookies do. So, I really feel like my best years are ahead of me, and I have all that knowledge and experience from the last seven years." Sieler said he cared about being out on the field with his teammates during the contract discussions, and those around him noticed the decision.
