Once availed, the pass will cover all national highways across the country.
The pass can be activated via the Rajmarg Yatra App, the National Highways Authority of India website, or Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website.
How will it help?
Using the annual pass will significantly enhance highway travel by reducing the need to stop and pay at toll plazas within a 60 km range. This not only offers a cost-effective and convenient travel experience but also helps in avoiding traffic jams and long queues commonly seen at toll booths. Additionally, it minimises disputes over toll collection, ensuring a smoother and more efficient journey for commuters.

Makeover of KGMU, Daliganj intersections to ease traffic

Lucknow: Commuters traversing through Daliganj trisection and Medical College Crossing will get relief from daily traffic snarls as LDA has initiated a remodelling project to ease congestion. The redesign will focus on reducing the diameter of existing rotaries. The central islands and road dividers will be restructured, and traffic islands will be modified. In addition, road markings and signboards will be installed to guide motorists. The estimated cost of Daliganj Tiraha project is Rs 87 lakh and Rs 72 lakh for Medical College crossing. LDA VC Prathamesh Kumar on Wednesday conducted an on-site inspection and directed officials to complete the work by Sep. Kumar said: "These junctions witness heavy peak-hour traffic, causing daily inconvenience. Surveys showed large rotaries were worsening flow. We're reducing their size and widening medians to improve circulation, cut wait times, and ensure smoother movement without affecting the area's heritage aesthetics." He emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination between traffic, power, and surveillance departments to ensure timely shifting of traffic signals, electric poles and CCTV infrastructure. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Activate Your Antivirus License Click Here Undo Meanwhile, LDA is also preparing to unveil the 'Lazeez Gali' near the historic Rumi Gate. CITCO petrol pumps record increased profit

Chandigarh: CITCO petrol pumps have recorded a significant profit of Rs 1,747.68 lakh during the financial year 2024–25, with total sales of Rs 68,386.01 lakh. The profit increased from Rs 1,176.99 lakh in financial year 2022-23 to Rs 1,527.60 lakh in the financial year 2023-24, showing a growth of Rs 350.61 lakh. "This increase in profit indicates a positive trend in the company's performance. The company's expansion, including the start of three new petrol pumps since 2021, contributed to this considerable increase in profits. This impressive growth is the outcome of a series of strategic and customer-focused initiatives undertaken by CITCO," said a CITCO spokesperson. "One of the key milestones was the introduction of a CNG facility at the Dhanas petrol pump in July 2024, offering an eco-friendly fuel alternative to meet the growing demand for cleaner energy. Additionally, the modernisation of the CITCO petrol pump in Sector 56 further improved customer service, operational efficiency, and overall user experience," the spokesperson added. To cater to an expanding customer base, CITCO is now extending its petrol pump in Industrial Area Phase-I, which will feature state-of-the-art facilities to enhance the fuelling experience. Further, CITCO, in association with IOCL, has entered into an understanding with Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) to supply diesel directly into CTU depots, which will further boost the sales and profits of CITCO in the coming days. Efforts are also being made to install EV charging stations across the CITCO petrol stations in the coming days.

1 year or 200 trips: How annual toll pass will allow you to zip through national highways from 15 Aug

Taking to social media platform 'X', Gadkari called it a transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel. He wrote that the pass will be activated on the current FASTag and will be valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips (whichever comes first). Each crossing of a national highway toll plaza will count as one trip. A round trip will be counted as two trips. New Delhi: From 15 August, non-commercial private vehicle drivers will be able to enjoy a seamless ride across national highways. Nitin Gadkari has said, that for 200 trips, a user has to currently pay at least Rs 10,000 a year. Now, this will come down to Rs 3,000. 'The annual pass will enable seamless and cost-effective travel across National Highways throughout the country. A dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be made available on the Rajmarg Yatra App as well as on the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH.' The annual pass will, however, not apply to state highway toll plazas. Users can still pay at state and other toll plazas through their FASTag, but money will be deducted from the annual pass account only at national highway toll plazas. FASTag is an electronic toll collection system that uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology that deducts toll directly from the prepaid or savings account linked to it without requiring the driver to stop for transactions at the toll gate. The FASTag is affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle. Currently, only monthly passes priced at Rs 340 were issued to frequent local commuters for crossing a single toll plaza. Gadkari also said that the policy addresses long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas located within a 60 km range. According to the National Highways Fee Rules 2008, the distance between two toll plazas is 60 km. 'As of now, the average cost of crossing a single toll plaza varies anywhere between Rs 50 and Rs 100. This will now come down to Rs 15,' Gadkari said in a video statement issued by the road ministry. 'By reducing wait times, easing congestion, and minimising disputes at toll plazas, the annual pass aims to deliver a faster and smoother travel experience for millions of private vehicle owners,' he added. A FAQ issued by the Union Road Ministry said that the annual pass will be activated after verifying the eligibility of the vehicle and the associated FASTag. 'Upon successful verification, the user must make a payment of Rs 3,000 for the base year 2025-26 through the Rajmargyatra mobile application or NHAI website,' stated the FAQ. The Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry has been considering introducing annual passes for some time. It had also planned to introduce distance-based toll charges, but no decision has been taken on that yet.
