Olly Murs reveals 'great sadness' as he breaks silence on twin brother feud
Olly Murs has revealed he finally understands how devastated his mum has been over his decades long fallout with his twin brother as he opened up about the feud that has ripped his family apart.
The pop star hasn't spoken to his brother since he chose to perform on the X Factor semi-final rather than attend his sibling's wedding, where he was due to be best man.
Olly's brother Ben branded him a 'self obsessed sell-out', cut off all contact and the pair have not spoken since.
"Now I'm a parent I can relate more to my mum's sadness that my twin brother, Ben, and I have been estranged since 2009," says Olly. Offering an olive branch he said: "I've got nothing but love and respect for him."
Speaking to The Sunday Times Magazine, the singer added that in recent years megastar Robbie Williams has become like a brother to him, with the pair deepening their bond as Olly joined him on stage this year.
While Olly's family is set to grow larger again this year as he and wife Amelia prepare to welcome their second child after tying the knot in 2023.
Olly said he will be doing things differently second time round after leaving Amelia and their newborn immediately after she gave birth due to work commitments.
"Two days after Madison was born I had to go on tour supporting Take That. Amelia had lots of support around her as her mum came to stay and my parents live near us in Essex, but it was hard and I felt guilty.
"We both understand that my work isn't like a regular job — but second time round I'm not going anywhere," he insists."
Olly continued: "My aim in life is to be a great husband and father - that's where my future lies. I'd love my career to continue as it is, but when you get married and become a dad, you just want to be the best for them."
The Troublemaker singer said his fallout with brother Ben has impacted him hugely and he still 'struggles with loneliness.'
He told The Times last year: "When you've been in the womb with someone, you struggle with loneliness. I had to deal with it when my twin and I went on our separate lives.
"I was desperate to be around people, could not sit in a room alone."
As well as distancing himself from Olly, Ben also cut contact with their parents and his sister.
He told the Daily Mail in January 2017: "I was very close to my parents, but fame and greed changed everything.
"My parents wanted this bright, shiny Olly with the money who can give them the VIP lifestyle. They liked hanging around with Simon Cowell, or going to Bon Jovi concerts – they loved their VIP selfies.
"I'm not interested in anything like that, I have a lovely life with my wife and kids."
Olly said despite the bad blood, he would still make friends with his brother if he'd allow it.
"I still want to make that change with my brother." Asked by Lorraine Kelly in 2018 if he though the rift could ever heal, Olly said: 'I hope so, of course, it's mad because every year I think about it, (will it be) nine years, 10 years. I did text him for his birthday but he changed his number.
" Christmas has never been the same," he admitted.

Major blow to Louis Theroux's girlband project as another huge group decline invite following Spice Girls' snub
TV insider reveals how girlbands are concerned what viewers saw in Boybands Forever may also happen to them SHOW KNOCK-BACK Major blow to Louis Theroux's girlband project as another huge group decline invite following Spice Girls' snub Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) GIRLS ALOUD have turned down an offer to appear in Louis Theroux's girlband documentary – following a similar knock-back from the Spice Girls. Girlbands Forever, set to air on BBC Two, is being filmed now and tells the story of the rise of this distinctly Nineties and Noughties phenomenon. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 8 Girls Aloud have turned down an offer to appear in Louis Theroux's girlband documentary Credit: Splash The show was given the green light following the huge success of three-parter Boybands Forever which aired last November on BBC Two. Last month I revealed the Say You'll Be There singers had rejected a personal approach from Louis to talk on the show. Now Cheryl Tweedy and her bandmates have followed suit. A TV insider said: 'This documentary has huge potential to be controversial — that's what viewers saw happen with Boybands Forever, which was made by the same team. 'It picked apart the many negative points associated with being in these pop groups, exposing divisions, bust-ups, resentments and recriminations. 'The concern for those groups taking part in the girlbands version is that it might end up doing similar. 'It now raises the question of how you can make a documentary about girl bands without two of the prime examples being a part of it.' Although the two biggest female groups of the era aren't contributing as talking heads, it's understood others still will be. They include members of Eternal, All Saints, Atomic Kitten and Sugababes. As with music mogul Simon Cowell's chat for last year's programme, some of the interviews will likely be face to face with Louis, whose production company Mindhouse is currently making the new show. In Boybands Forever, Robbie Williams discussed his turbulent time in Take That, and members of East 17, 911, Damage and 5ive all outlined the many issues that came with fame. But even a personal invite from Louis couldn't bag the Spice Girls or Girls Aloud, which is pretty tricky given that Mindhouse is hoping to have the project in the can and ready to air by this October. At least that's one way of looking at the story at the heart of Prime Video's new thriller which drops on September 10. But as the newly released trailer for the drama shows, it's not clear whether she's the baddie, or if it's actually her son's seriously suspicious new lover, Cherry, played by Olivia Cooke. Based on Michelle Frances' novel of the same name, this is another one of those offerings from the streamers with a distinctly trans-Atlantic feel since it stars both American and US actors. Set in London, the mind-bending six-parter will have you constantly questioning your perception. A LAUR GOING ON AT HOME 8 Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has been filming a fly-on-the-wall TV show Credit: PA HE is back on the box with Channel 4's Outrageous Homes, but Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen could soon be inviting you into his own gaff. The star has been filming a fly-on-the-wall TV show at the six-bed Gloucestershire pile he shares with his wife Jackie, plus daughter Hermione, her husband and two children. Not to mention their eldest daughter Cecile, her hubby and two kids, who also live there in a converted annexe. Laurence told Women's Weekly: 'It's an artificial affectation, this idea that children have to leave the nest, the old are left to decline in remote, beige spaces, while the young find they have no childcare or time for themselves. 'Why don't more people pool their resources? I like the idea of it being very inspirational.' I don't see it working in my two-bed in Southwark. 2.4m SEE ISLE DUO CACH IN 8 Cach Mercer and Toni Laites are crowned winners by Maya Jama on Love Island Credit: Shutterstock Editorial THIS year's Love Island is proof that sex sells. New statistics show that following a raunchy run, the dating show's final was its most watched since Ekin-Su Culculoglu's record-breaking year in 2022. An average 2.4million viewers saw Toni Laites and Cach Mercer bag the £50,000 prize after being crowned winners by host Maya Jama last week. ITV says series 12 also delivered its highest 16 to 34-year-old audience of the year, averaging 1.1 million in the demographic. The show's streams have hit 173 million – up eight per cent year on year. It's solid stuff amid a testing time for ITV. No wonder the channel has locked in another All Stars series for January. BEAR GIG A PICNIC FOR LIZ 8 Liz Hurley's next project is about drug-dealing Bears Credit: Rex Features LIZ HURLEY has a wacky project on the horizon – about drug-dealing Bears. The actress, who is just about to star in Channel 4's The Inheritance, told the Travel Secrets podcast: 'I also have an animated show which is actually really good fun. 'I did it with my old friend Brendan Fraser. 'We did a movie together back in the day called Bedazzled. Even though we sort of love each other, I hadn't seen him for so long. 'It's called Breaking Bear and is all about some bears who cook up meth to sell. I mean, it's outrageous. 'I play the wolf queen who tries to kill them all. It's really good fun.' Not an animation for the kids, then. JILL SCOTT and Lionesses including Alessia Russo, Chloe Kelly and Fran Kirby have cameo roles in new CBeebies show Football Fantastics. The comedy series follows six friends at a local footy group and is on CBeebies and iPlayer now.

Robbie Williams fans gobsmacked as singer faces unlikely 'stage invader' on tour
Robbie Williams is currently on the European leg of his Britpop tour, and fans were left gobsmacked when he bravely faced an unlikely 'stage invader' at a recent show Robbie Williams is in the middle of a mammoth 37-show tour in support of his latest album, Britpop, which has seen him play a number of shows in the UK and across Europe. But during one recent gig in Germany, the former Take That star left fans gobsmacked as he was seen bravely fending off an unlikely "stage invader" who tried to interrupt the show. A video of the incident was shared on TikTok by The Lottery Winners, a pop band who have been supporting Robbie on his tour throughout the UK and Europe. The clip begins with Robbie inviting his "new best mate" and Lottery Winners lead singer Thom Rylance on stage, before the fellow musician alerts him to the unwelcome guest on stage with them. But the stage invader isn't an overzealous fan, but is instead something that could be even scarier - a wasp. Thom tells Robbie in the clip: "There's a wasp right on you." As the Angels singer moves out of the way, the wasp flies between the two, and Thom can be heard screaming while Robbie tells the insect to "f**k off". He then also jokingly tells the crowd to "finish the gig yourselves" as he attempts to run off stage away from the angry wasp. WARNING: The below TikTok video contains strong language. The crowd descends into laughter as Thom lifts his guitar as a weapon to fight off the wasp, before declaring to Robbie that he's "so scared". Robbie then stated: "I'm not. I'm butch." Robbie asks Thom if he would be willing to play guitar for some of his songs, but is cut off mid-sentence as the wasp comes back for more and he's forced to pull off the scarf he's wearing and throw it into the crowd to try and deter the insect. The video then cuts to Robbie and Thom performing Take That's hit Relight My Fire together, before Thom once again has to run away as the wasp returns to taunt him some more. Commenters on the video were left in stitches by the duo's antics, as people joked they needed "security" to escort the wasp off stage so the musicians could get back to the show. One person said: "Where's security when you need them?" Another added: "When the best concert ever becomes a stand-up comedy show."

Rylan Clark admits 'I've been to rock bottom' as he shares divorce 'regret'
Rylan Clark has admitted he has been to 'rock bottom' following the breakdown of his marriage to Dan Neal, but has said that the split was the 'right thing' for the pair Rylan Clark confesses he 'reached rock bottom' after 'running himself into the ground' during his marriage breakdown. The 36-year-old presenter separated from former Big Brother star Dan Neal in 2021. Their six-year union came to an end after the former X Factor hopeful acknowledged he had been disloyal earlier in their romance. Whilst Rylan now recognises the separation was the "right thing" for both parties, he has been candid about his difficulties throughout the divorce. The ordeal forced the celebrity to take four months away from work and also resulted in a stint in hospital, reports the Manchester Evening News. Speaking on his How to Be In Love podcast, Rylan has revealed how he felt following the end of his relationship with Dan. He said: "I can safely say at this point that I have been to rock bottom, whatever you want to call it, and I know I'm never going to let myself go back there. But what that has equally done for me is make me cautious. "It's made me very, very frightened to open myself up to someone. It's made me frightened to trust someone, and I'm not as confident as my work persona in my personal life." Self-help guru Mel Robbins informed Rylan that reaching "rock bottom" is "a gift". She explained: "All a rock bottom moment is, is really quite a gift, you know it's a rock bottom moment because you hit something solid inside yourself, and that's a resolve to change. "A rock bottom moment is when the pain of staying where you are is actually harder than doing the work that you have been avoiding to get better. That's all that it is." Rylan, the Saturday afternoon host on Radio 2, expressed his "biggest regret" was how he handled his break up. He confessed: "I don't regret anything about my relationship finishing or anything like that, I've learnt a lot from that. "Just the way I handled it, I drove myself into the ground when really, I wish I looked back and went, 'Hang on, you're fine, this is fine'. I wish I'd never got as bad as I did because of my own way, I was thinking it's the end of the world." Previously, Rylan has spoken about feeling like a "failure" following his divorce. In a conversation with former Love Islander Tasha Ghouri, he revealed: "When I went through my divorce, I had a full-on breakdown because it wasn't just us. "It felt like it wasn't just us, even though it was just me and my ex. I felt that everyone's going to think this of me. Everyone's going to think, 'Oh look, his life isn't perfect. Oh look, he's failed like that.' I just felt like a failure." In his autobiography, TEN: The Decade That Changed My Future, the star opened up about preparing himself for a new relationship. He penned: "I got in a relationship quite young and just went with it. Now I know I'm my own person. I'm not going to settle for something that's not right. In a way it's been a bit of a gift. "I'm happy to have sex with someone and that's that, that's not a problem. But do I want more? Of course I want more. Am I going to enjoy myself on the way? Abso-f***ing-lutely."
