Chappell Roan's wig for The Subway video was 'wearable sculpture'

Chappell Roan's huge wig in The Subway video was a piece of "wearable sculpture" inspired by a look previously seen on Julia Fox.
In her latest promo, the singer is seen wearing a long, curly wig made from 35 bundles of real human hair and now her hair stylist John Novotny has revealed the idea came about after he created a similar look for actress/model Julia
Novotny told WWD: "I had recently made a wig on my client, Julia Fox, to go with an amazing Dilara Findikoglu dress that looked like the Birth of Venus.
"The Dilara gown was sheer lace and had tracks of hair sewn into it to look like the hair was draping down Julia's body, and we made a matching black wig that we tucked into the dress to make the hair appear thigh-length. That look and [the request from Chappell Roan's stylist for the video] really got me inspired."
In the video, the singer is seen riding the subway wearing an outfit made entirely out of hair.
Novotny went on to compare the look he created for Chappell to a "woolly mammoth" and insisted it was "wearable sculpture".
He added: "I wanted to create something that pushed the boundary of what hair can be.
"The idea of a full silhouette made entirely from hair felt both surreal and intimate. It's a wearable sculpture, yet deeply tied to her beauty and iconic, fiery red hair that pushes boundaries beyond just length."
It comes after Chappell recently declared her fashion sense is "like a Halloween" costume.
The 27-year-old pop star admitted she is not really a fan of the spooky October holiday but she can definitely see the correlation when it comes to her signature looks.
She told W Magazine: "I am not a Halloween girl. My favorite Halloween costumes I admire from afar, because I'm always the b**** who has the cat ears on and that's it.
"My work outfit is like Halloween! But when I was a child, I was a red M+M for three years in a row."
The Good Luck, Babe! hitmaker admitted she has seen "so many" of her fans dress up as her over the course of the last six months and is thrilled that her audience is now expanding to include children as well as adults.
She added: " I've seen so many baby Chappell Roans. There's so many different outfits to choose from! That is something new in the past six months - the audience is growing to include children, and it's so cute. Hot to Go! taught them how to spell and dance."

Chappel Roan has 'no idea' how next album will sound

Chappel Roan has 'no idea' what her next album will sound like. The Pink Pony Club singer has released three very "different" singles since dropping her 2023 debut LP The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and she admitted the contrast in sound on each highlights the fact she is unsure in what direction her music will take next. Speaking to Zane Lowe for Apple Music, she noted latest single The Subway is a "very safe segue" as to what her record could sound like, but she also said: "They're all kind of so different. So that's why I'm just like, 'I have no idea what the next era is.' "That's the scary part of putting out new music and then people not liking it, because it's not like the music you made before.' The 27-year-old star hasn't felt "settled" enough to write a new album because her schedule has been so full on, meaning she's barely spent any time at home. She said: 'I haven't felt settled. It's been a very unsettling year and a half, and I think once I really feel calm in a new house and have a routine, I just can't wait to have a routine. And then I can think about writing a song once I have a routine. 'I finally got a new place and I've only been there for 10 days. And then I came on this big tour. 'So it's been a journey on how do I release music within the state of everything?' And even once her tour is over, Chappel plans to take some time off before she stars writing again. She said: 'I think that once this is done and the US shows are done, it'll definitely feel like a big breath of weight off my shoulders just so I can chill for a sec and actually think about writing. But we're almost done with the victory lap. Next April I'll be done with the victory lap.' The Good Luck, Babe! hitmaker recently admitted she thinks her next record is at least five years away. She told Vogue magazine: 'The second project doesn't exist yet. 'There is no album. There is no collection of songs. 'It took me five years to write the first one, and it's probably going to take at least five to write the next. I'm not that type of writer that can pump it out. 'I don't think I make good music whenever I force myself to do anything. I see some comments sometimes, like, 'She's everywhere except that damn studio.' Even if I was in the studio 12 hours a day, every single day, that does not mean that you would get an album any faster.'

Ashley Tisdale's Being Frenshe introduce lip care products

Ashley Tisdale is creating a range of lip products. The High School Musical star's wellness brand Being Frenshe will release a Nourishing Lip Mask in the signature Lavender Cloud and Cashmere Vanilla vanilla scents, and a Restoring Lip Balm, in the same two scents, as well as Moon Milk and Solar Fleur. Ashley was inspired to create the range - which will be sold exclusively through Target - because of the popularity of the Moon Milk scent, which was initially designed as a limited-edition offering. She told WWD: 'So many people were going crazy over Moon Milk, and we would joke like, 'Are people drinking the Hair, Linen and Body Mist?' because they were so frantic about getting more. 'I have had so many people personally reach out to me, being like, 'I need six more, and I can't get it at Target.' 'It did spark a little bit of 'Oh, what if people could kind of taste the scents in a way, and that led us to lip wellness.' But Ashley wouldn't have worked on the range if it hadn't been important to her. She admitted: '[Everything] is driven by my own personal rituals. The body care was about trying to ground myself and be present and take care of my body.…Hair was another real big ritual for me because I have dealt with so many different hair issues with alopecia.' Being Frenshe - which expanded into hair and scalp care in December - launched in 2022 and is on track to exceed $100 million in sales this year, much to Ashley's astonishment. She said: 'I wish I could say that I had all these big dreams for Being Frenshe, but I don't think I could wrap my head around the success of it and that I would be able and have the potential to go into all these different categories." Piyush Jain, chief executive officer of Being Frenshe's parent company, Maesa, is thrilled with the success of the brand, with Target selling one unit of the Cashmere Vanilla Hair, Body and Linen Mist every six seconds. He said: 'Consumers keep surprising us. It continues to be our bestseller. Consumers flock to it in a variety of different fragrances, and it just keeps on growing. 'Lip as a product category is just exploding. It's a product that consumers use all through the day, at night, and therefore providing wellness there is super important.'
