Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Box Office Collection Day 1: Shanaya Kapoor's debut film earns Rs 35 lakh, big blow for Vikrant Massey
The Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer Mere Husband Ki Biwi made Rs 1.5 crore on its first day, while Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor's Loveyapa earned Rs 1.15 crore. Azaad, which starred newcomers Rasha Thadani and Aaman Devgn, also made Rs 1.5 crore. Massey, who just a few months ago had announced his retirement from the film industry, went back on his decision and decided to work on this film. Shanaya, the daughter of Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, pivoted to this film after her original debut project, Bedhadak, was shelved.

The occupancy rates for Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan averaged out at 9.92%, with the morning and afternoon shows struggling, bringing in rates of 5.87% and 9.43%, and the evening and night shows achieving 8.62% and 15.77%. Maheep seemed thoroughly excited for her daughter's big debut as she posted childhood pictures of her and expressed the joy she was feeling due to the movie. Massey's last two films were Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Fail (Rs 56.38 cr) and Dheeraj Sarna's The Sabarmati Report (Rs 34.27 cr).
The film is currently competing with Superman and Maalik, among a few others. The two films have earned Rs 7 crore and Rs 3.35 crore, respectively. Things need to swiftly turn around for director Santosh Singh's romantic drama, or it will soon start bleeding shows, further decreasing its chance of posting decent numbers.

and debutant 's romantic drama 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' which released in theatres on July 11, has been having a sluggish run at the box office. The film, based on 's short story 'The Eyes Have It', was expected to appeal to a niche audience, but the initial response has been fairly low. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now According to Sacnilk, the film had a modest but steady performance at the box office in its first weekend. It began its box office run with an estimated Rs 30 lakh on Friday and earned an estimated Rs 50 lakh on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, the film saw numbers dip to Rs 15 lakh, and decreased further on Tuesday, to earn Rs 14 lakh. This brings the total five-day collection to about Rs 1.59 crore. 'Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan', has been facing tough competition at the box office, due to its weak storyline and performances. Released alongside Rajkummar Rao's 'Maalik' and the Hollywood blockbuster 'Superman', the film struggled the most among the three. 'Superman' drew a large multiplex audience, while 'Maalik' came in a close second. It has also been facing competition from last week's releases. ETimes gave the film a rating of 3 stars out of 5, and an excerpt from the ETimes review reads, 'Tanveer Mir's cinematography lends stunning visual appeal, capturing both the grandeur of Mussoorie and the charm of Europe. Vishal Mishra's soothing music further elevates the film. Despite narrative shortcomings, what works is the lead couple. Shanaya Kapoor makes an impressive debut, bringing a strong screen presence and handling emotional scenes with ease. Vikrant Massey once again proves his mettle with a nuanced performance across both light and intense moments. Zain Khan Durrani also delivers a fine act, despite limited screen time.' Inside Katrina Kaif's Rs 240 cr business empire that beats Deepika Padukone's brand, owns luxury homes in Mumbai-London and a swanky car collection
Since the beginning of her career, Katrina Kaif was often dismissed as just 'a pretty face' in the Hindi film industry. But just when she had decided to pack her bags and leave, her film Namastey London (2007) became a big hit, with the audience recognising Katrina's acting chops and seeing her beyond her looks. Years later, when Katrina Kaif was at the top of her game in the Hindi film industry — with films like Bharat, Zero, Raajneeti, and Ek Tha Tiger under her belt — she decided to channel her 'pretty girl' image into a powerful business move by launching her beauty brand Kay Beauty in 2019. But how did Katrina transition from a top actor to a successful businesswoman? Here's a look at her journey: Before launching the brand, Katrina invested Rs 2.04 crore in a joint venture with leading retail company Nykaa in 2018. By 2021, that investment had grown to Rs 22 crore. This not only demonstrated Katrina's sharp business sense but also laid a solid foundation for her upcoming beauty venture with the online retail company. Despite makeup being a crowded and competitive market, Katrina managed to stand out with one single decision — co-founding the brand with Nykaa in 2019. It was her brainchild, and it quickly became one of the most sought-after makeup brands in the country. A post shared by Katrina Kaif (@katrinakaif) Katrina's love for makeup goes back to her teenage years. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar India, she shared how she used to experiment with makeup and later honed her skills as an actor and model. She said, 'Growing up, make-up was a fascination. I would visit make-up counters at malls to swatch all the lipsticks and face products. I fell in love with the colours, the textures, and the fact that you can enhance certain features of your face and create the most incredible looks. Then, once I started working as a model with the best make-up artists in the country, I learned all the tricks and tips from them. I honed the techniques that I had used or seen in my personal work and amalgamated it with professional tips that I learn along the way.' Several celebrities — Kriti Sanon, Masaba Gupta, Deepika Padukone, Mira Rajput — also launched their own skincare and beauty labels. However, none matched the scale of Katrina's success. According to a 2024 Storyboard18 report, Deepika Padukone's 82°E reported a loss of Rs 25.1 crore in the first nine months of FY2024. The report cited Deepika's brand's high pricing as a key reason for underperformance. According to the same report in 2025, in just six years, Katrina's brand has established itself among the top-selling cosmetic brands in the country. It achieved a revenue of Rs 240 crore in 2025. Beyond her successful business, Katrina also owns multiple properties in India and abroad. As per Dwello, she owns a two-storied apartment in Mumbai's posh Mourya House in Andheri West. Valued at Rs 17 crore, this is where she lived before her marriage to actor Vicky Kaushal. She also owns a house in London worth approximately Rs 7.2 crore, which serves as a base for her international travel. She currently lives with Vicky Kaushal in their lavish Juhu apartment. In April this year, Vicky renewed lease for their apartment and for which they will pay Rs. 6.2 crore rent in three years. A post shared by Katrina Kaif (@katrinakaif) A post shared by Katrina Kaif (@katrinakaif) Katrina has a taste for luxury cars. According to GQ, her most expensive car is the Range Rover Vogue LWB, costing Rs 2.37 crore. She also owns a Mercedes ML 350 (Rs 66 lakh) and an Audi Q7 (Rs 1 crore). According to Fincash, Katrina Kaif's net worth has surged to Rs 263 crore, which includes her earnings from films, brand endorsements, investments, and her beauty brand.

Karnataka set to cap multiplex ticket rates at Rs 200; seat categories to go
File photo: Karnataka CM (ANI) BENGALURU: In a bid to make movie-watching more affordable, the state government on Tuesday notified draft rules capping ticket prices in all theatres and multiplexes across Karnataka at Rs 200, inclusive of entertainment tax. The government has set a 15-day window for stakeholders to submit their objections. If no objections are received, the draft rules will be finalised. The draft rules remove all seat classifications such as balcony, premium, etc. All tickets, regardless of the class, will now be priced at Rs 200 as the rule enabling classification of seats has been dropped from the Act. While the proposal had previously met with opposition from multiplex operators, film industry bodies in the state have welcomed the move.
