Thanks in part to the revival of Western and bohemian styles, we've seen plenty of well-dressed women embracing denim in every form. This summer, Dua Lipa has been spotted in frayed-edge denim shorts, while free-spirited, tiered denim midi skirts have surged in popularity, often paired with cowboy or biker-style boots. But, there is one denim stalwart that continues to reign supreme, not just through summer but well into that tricky transitional period between seasons, and that is the denim dress.
Injected with retro charm, denim dresses have been a favourite since the '80s and '90s. For 2025, the style continues to be reimagined as designers take a more contemporary approach, moving away from the familiar mini apron styles in favour of modern silhouettes. The spring/summer 2025 runway shows featured denim dresses in an array of designs: Marques'Almeida championed layered frocks with balloon-sleeve styles with cinched waistlines, while Schiaparelli sent down indigo blue maxi dresses with plunging necklines and metal zip and button embellishments.
Naturally, the high street has followed suit, with labels such as Nobody's Child and Abercrombie & Fitch offering denim dresses in equally stylish silhouettes. Here at Grazia , however, we have developed a particular soft spot for Aligne's denim dress selection, and one frock in particular has secured a spot on our summer and transitional season moodboards. The dress in question? The Luella Mini Denim Dress: a cropped blue mini with rancher-style charm, thanks to its silver metal button embellishments. Unsurprisingly, it has warranted plenty of fanfare among the fashion set, and who can blame them? It even comes with pockets, a rare and welcome find. 1.
Aligne, Luella Mini Dress
This mini dress is perfect for layering. For summer, consider a crisp white shirt underneath, and for the coming transitional period, think lightweight knitwear from the likes of Uniqlo.
Other Aligne highlights include the Keri Western Pocket Dress, which quickly soared in popularity and became a must-have, but is now sadly out of stock. Meanwhile, the Grace Denim Pocket Mini Dress has emerged as a fan favourite among cool-girls, who style it effortlessly with black leather ankle boots and sleek black bags for a corresponding touch. I've seen plenty of women wearing the dark blue iteration, but you can also shop the Grace dress in a washed black, as well as leopard print. 2.
Aligne, Grace Denim Pocket Mini Dress
This denim mini dress comes in a relaxed fit with a shirt-style collar for a touch of sophistication. The best part? You can wear the dress for the rest of summer, and then once autumn rolls around, you can wear it with tights.
While we could continue waxing lyrical about Aligne's denim dresses, we think it's best to turn our attention to some other trusted cotton frocks. Whether you're planning on taking them on a last-minute trip to the Mediterranean or gearing up with layering essentials for the in-between season, our best denim dress edit has got you covered. There's nothing quite like a wardrobe staple that nails style and stands up to whatever the forecast has in store. Shop them below. 3.
Nobody's Child, Denim Paisley Eden Mini Dress
This paisley printed Nobody's Child dress comes in an indigo blue shade and features stylish bow detailing reminiscent of Damson Madder. 4.
FRAME, Denim Shirt Dress
FRAME knows a thing or two about denim—just ask Kate Middleton. Its denim jeans are royal-approved, and its denim dress selection is just behind. 5.
M&S, Pure Cotton Mini
M&S has cemented itself as the summer dress brand, and it's not hard to see why. Its denim mini dress features frayed detailing for a slightly rugged look. 6.
Abercrombie & Fitch, Mila Denim Midi Dress
The Mila dress is a welcome find. Featuring subtle pleated detail for a nipped look and a square neckline for a touch of sophistication, this denim midi dress is a staple for seasons to come. 7.
Citizens Of Humanity, Denim Midi Dress
The Citizens Of Humanity denim midi dress takes inspiration from the humble jean jacket. Featuring button-through detailing and chest pockets, it's an essential for city strolling. 8.
Reformation, Tagliatelle Denim Midi Dress
The Tagliatelle dress features a cinched bodice and a flattering square neckline that highlights the collarbones. Available in an inky dark denim, it will become your summer and autumn failsafe. 9.
Arket, Denim Dress
This Arket denim dress bears a striking resemblance to some of Aligne's best sellers. Style with cowboy boots for an injection of the West. 10.
And Other Stories, Denim Mini
For a tailored touch, turn to this & Other Stories mini. It's equally chic with dainty ballet flats or rugged leather Chelsea boots once the weather begins to cool.

Coronation Street recasts actor after just one year as replacement filming already
There is set to be a new face on Coronation Street in a few weeks as one character gets recast, with the fourth actor taking on the role in the ITV soap Coronation Street as recast a beloved character after just one year on screen, with the fourth star now taking on the role. The ITV soap has rejigged its cast as a new actor will appear on the Cobbles very soon. The character has been part of the ITV show for eight years, but will now be taken on by a new actor. Harry Platt, who is the son of Sarah Barlow, had been played by Carter J Murphy. He took on the part of actress Tina O'Brien's child, having filled in from twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes. It comes as a former Coronation Street resident is sentenced to four years in prison offscreen. However, Carter's departure from the soap comes with a good reason. He has landed a huge role in Matilda the Musical and could no longer carry on with his commitments on Corrie. Carter has decided to step away from his role for a year, with a new actor called Josh filling in for him. He will make his debut on the Cobbles in the coming weeks, according to the Sun. Character Harry was born in 2016 following Sarah's fling with baddie Callum Logan, played by Sean Ward. Twins Freddie and Isaac played the role from 2017 to last year. It wasn't Carter's first taste of the big screen thanks to landing the role of a young Robbie Williams in his upcoming movie Better Man. Speaking to press about Carter joining the soap, Jack P Shepherd said: "They've just recast the lad who plays Harry. "Carter is very, very confident." He made his debut on screens in December last year. Just last month, Corrie saw a new actress step into a role following the recasting of a character. Grace Ashcroft-Gardiner stepped into the shoes of Lily Platt on the beloved ITV soap. The young actress couldn't contain her joy as she announced her new gig to her followers, taking over from Brooke Malonie who portrayed Lily since 2016. Grace said: "I am so excited to share my news that I have joined the cast of Coronation Street playing the role of Lily Platt." She went on to thank the Stagebox team for their pivotal role in her journey. The young star added: "It's been a brilliant few months since my first audition, which wouldn't have happened without the fantastic Stagebox team (who I can't thank enough! ). "The whole Corrie team, the cast and crew have been absolutely amazing, I couldn't have asked for any more support during my first few weeks filming on the cobbles." Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain, commented: "Smashing it! ! I love the sass you give her." Jack P Shepherd, who plays her on-screen father David Platt, chimed in: "Yay! Great to have part of the family Grace." Grace became the sixth actress to step into the shoes of Lily since the character's introduction in 2013.

Boden shoppers have been hailing a summer dress that makes them feel 'instantly put-together, effortlessly stylish, and ready to take on the world', and it is now currently on sale. The Naomi Short Sleeve Dress, which comes in nine different colours, was initially retailed at £69 but can be bought for as little as £41, which is £28 cheaper than its original price. The bright blue and wildflower stamp dress is discounted to £55.20, while the teal stamp, paradise green and botanic blush, the blue with abstract swirl and strawberry tart red are all discounted to £48.30. While the jewel red with leafy grove, cognac and ornate geo and hunter green remain at £69, the cheapest discount is with the cerulean blue with a blossomy pattern dress for £41.40. The short sleeved dress is a comfortable day to day wear, but could easily be styled for any occasion. While it may be more appropriate to wear during the summer, you could easily style the Naomi Short Sleeve Dress with a pair of tights and boots when it becomes a little cooler. The dress comes with side seam pockets and is made out of 50% cotton and 50% TENCEL ™ Modal, making it a breathable dress to wear but also easy to care and maintain as it is machine washable. Elsewhere, for shoppers looking to buy an alternative summer dress, you can purchase the Colorado Midi Dress from Nobody's Child for £65. Or, the M&S Collection Cotton Rich Floral V-Neck Midi Tiered Dress is sold for £45 at Marks and Spencer. Back to Boden, and the Naomi Short Sleeve Dress has received a rating of around 4.5 out of five stars and 124 reviews. One customer was delighted with their purchase and said: "Every now and then, a dress comes along that makes you feel instantly put-together, effortlessly stylish, and ready to take on the world – this is that dress. "The Naomi in Cerulean Blue is simply stunning. The colour is vibrant and joyful, the print is fresh and feminine, and the cut? Flattering from every angle. "It has that magic Boden touch: a blend of classic elegance and playful charm that turns heads without trying too hard. I wore it once and was showered with compliments – people genuinely asked where it was from, and I was proud to say Boden, of course." Another shopper carried the same sentiment and reviewed: "I wasn't expecting to love this dress as much as I do, but the Naomi Short Sleeve Dress in Blue has totally earned a spot in my regular rotation. It's the kind of dress that makes getting dressed easy—just throw it on and instantly look put-together. "The fit is surprisingly flattering (no shapewear needed—hallelujah), and the fabric feels high-quality without being too heavy. The blue is even prettier in person—somewhere between bold and classic—and it somehow works for just about any occasion. "I've worn it to work, out to dinner, and even just running errands when I wanted to feel a little more polished. Also, shoutout to the strangers and friends who've complimented it—it's been a while since a dress got this much love. Boden really nailed it with this one". While another pleased reviewer had this to say: "Bought this lovely dress and wore it to work the next day— it's comfortable, smart, the cut is perfect and I love it even more because of the super handy pockets." But not everyone was entirely pleased with the dress. "Loved this dress only problem is that it was far too short even though I'm less than 5' tall," one said. Another also had an issue with its length and said: "This dress is such a lovely vibrant colour, but it was too short for me (above the knee) so had to go back." But most of the reviews were positive. "This is the perfect throw on summer dress," one buyer said. "Loved my first purchase so much, I bought 4 more as the designs are really flattering. Good quality jersey material, good weight but not too hot in the heatwaves we've been having! "Thoroughly recommend, for an average height, average weight person, it's the dream easy to wear dress! Wish Boden would do even more patterns, as this is their best fit ever!" And another pleased shopper remarked: "Love the cut of this dress, had lots of compliments and so easy to iron!"
