What does the Thunderbolts* asterisk mean in the title?
When the Marvel Cinematic Universe announced its most recent movie, it was simply Thunderbolts. During filming, however, the title got a new accessory as the movie's stars and the studio added an asterisk. It became Thunderbolts* as the official title, but no one knew exactly what it all meant.
With the release of the movie on May 2, we now know.
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THUNDERBOLTS* AHEAD
The unlikely group made up of Yelena (Florence Pugh), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour) and newcomer Bob (Lewis Pullman) have to team up to defeat The Void. After they emerged from the endless maze of shame rooms that make up The Void, the ragtag team thought they were going to arrest the diabolical Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Instead, the Thunderbolts -- previously named for Yelena's youth soccer team the Westchester Big Valley Thunderbolts -- were dubbed "the New Avengers."
And thus ended the asterisk.
Thanks to the Thunderbolts* post credit scene, we also know that the New Avengers will return in the upcoming Doomsday and Secret Wars.

Thunderbolts*' Wyatt Russell Mistaken For Lookalike in LA Protest Video

Wyatt Russell, son of actors Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, was mistakenly identified in a viral video of an anti-ICE protests in LA. The clip captured a heated exchange during anti-ICE demonstrations and quickly drew attention across social media. It prompted widespread speculations about the identity of the man. A video from the recent anti-ICE protests in LA caused confusion online after viewers wrongly identified actor Wyatt Russell as the man confronting authorities in the clip. The clip, which shows a person delivering a passionate speech to armed authorities during the demonstrations, led many online to believe it was the Thunderbolts actor. However, Russell's representative confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the person in the footage is not him and that they've been working to correct the confusion. The person seen in the video is actually Aaron Fisher, a partner at Statecraft Media, a digital media firm that supports progressive political campaigns. In the video, Fisher is seen confronting officers, accusing them of following unconstitutional orders. He warns them they are 'on the wrong side of history.' Fisher also added, 'We know you got a job to do, but you took an oath to the Constitution, not to the fascists in the White House.' Speaking about the mixup, Fisher said he found it 'pretty humorous' and was glad that the attention helped spread the message of the protest. He said, 'The deployment of the National Guard against the wishes of our Governor is dangerously un-American, and I will continue to peacefully protest in my community.' The protests started after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducted raids in Latino neighborhoods of Los Angeles, including a clothing warehouse downtown. Demonstrations reportedly escalated over the weekend and into Monday, especially after President Donald Trump deployed National Guard troops to the city. Chris Evans Says It's ‘Sad' Not to Be ‘Invited to the Party' For ‘Avengers: Doomsday': ‘It's Going to Be Much Harder When It Comes Out'

Chris Evans is bummed he is missing out on all the fun in 'Avengers: Doomsday.' In a recent conversation with ScreenRant, Evans, who played Captain America across eight MCU films, was asked if he still stays in contact with his former Marvel collaborators, considering his exclusion from the highly anticipated 'Avengers: Doomsday.' Evans confirmed that they all keep in touch, but added it feels different having exited the franchise in 'Avengers: Endgame.' 'It's where Pedro [Pascal] is right now. I mean, it's sad to be away. It's sad to not be back with the band, but I'm sure they're doing something incredible, and I'm sure it's going to be that much harder when it comes out, and you feel like you weren't invited to the party.' In 'End Game,' Evans' Captain America ages out of the star-spangled shield after traveling back in time to return the Infinity Stones. He decides to stay in the past with his true love, Peggy Carter, and in the present day, passes the Captain America moniker to Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson. While Evans is staying behind, his 'Avengers' co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr. are returning for 'Doomsday.' Hemsworth will return as Thor, but Downey will come back as the titular super villain Doctor Doom, instead of Iron Man. Other familiar MCU faces returning for 'Doomsday' include Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier; Paul Rudd as Ant-Man; Tom Hiddleston as Loki; Letitia Wright as Shuri and Mackie as Captain America. While originally set for release on May 1, 2026, 'Doomsday' was recently delayed to Dec. 18, 2026. Its sequel, 'Avengers: Secret Wars,' was also pushed. First slated to premiere on May 7, 2027, the film will now hit theaters Dec. 17, 2027.
