'Stellar Blade' Developer Has Plans For Sequel And New 'Project Witches' RPG

Geek Culture21-05-2025

Korean gaming studio Shift Up has bold plans for the future, unveiling its roadmap over the coming years with plans for a Stellar Blade sequel and a yet-to-be-revealed new action RPG, Project Witches .
As revealed during a presentation by the company on 16 May, Shift Up detailed its recent financials, awards, and its plans for the years ahead. Within the presentation slides, a chart showed how the company plans to expand its current franchises going forward, listing out a Stellar Blade sequel among others set to be released before 2027.
News of a sequel to its hit 2024 Souls-like Stellar Blade should come as no surprise, considering the game's impressive debut, which saw it sell more than one million copies within a month, with Shift Up already expressing interest in a sequel at the time. According to the chart, a 'platform expansion' is also set to arrive before the game's sequel, which no doubt refers to its upcoming PC version, which is set to launch on 11 June this year, or possibly even a port of the game on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Apart from laying out its future plans for both Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory: Nikke , Shift Up's massively popular mobile title, the company also has another title in the works, codenamed Project Witches . No further information about this mysterious title has been revealed yet, but according to a previous report by the Korean publication Yonhap News Agency (translated by X\Twitter user Genki), the game is described as a 'AAA urban sci-fi action RPG', with further information on Shift Up's hiring page for the title detailing that it will also be a multi-platform game.
Of course, plans can still change over the coming years, and it's unclear if any of these revealed projects would be able to hit their intended release windows, but for now, it looks like Stellar Blade 2 is all but confirmed, so fans can look forward to an official announcement or trailer in the near future.

Asian Developers Make A Splash At Apple Design Awards 2025

Apple has announced the winners of its annual Apple Design Awards, recognising innovation, ingenuity, and technical achievement across app and game design. This year, Asian developers have taken the spotlight, making up four of the 12 total winners. Amongst the Asian winners, Singapore's very own Infold Games leaves its mark with the mobile game Infinity Nikki , clinching the award in the Visuals and Graphics (Games) category for pushing the boundaries of what mobile graphics can achieve. The four Asian winners of the Apple Design Awards 2025 include: Delight and Fun (Apps) Winner: CapWords (HappyPlan Tech, China) A language-learning app that transforms everyday objects into interactive stickers accompanied by real-world sounds. This year's Asian winners mark a sharp increase from the Apple Design Awards 2024, which only saw one winner from Asia out of a total of 14, that being South Korea's NEOWIZ Corporation, which won the award in the Visuals and Graphics (Game) category with Lies of P for Mac. Additionally, the pool of finalists for this year's awards also saw a larger number of Asian developers, with five of the 24 runner-ups hailing from Asia, spanning developers from Singapore, Thailand and India. In comparison, only two of the 28 finalists for the Apple Design Awards 2024 were from Asian developers. With four winners and five finalists from Asian countries, the Apple Design Awards 2025 mark a major win for Asian representation. 'Elden Ring Nightreign' To Launch Two-Player Mode Amid 3.5 Million Sales Milestone

The launch of Elden Ring Nightreign was rougher than one would expect from a FromSoftware title, but it's slowly making strides in its recovery. Despite selling two million units in its first 24 hours, the spin-off received a mixed reception on Steam, although it has since climbed to 'Mostly Positive'. After rolling out the first wave of improvements that added an auto-resurrect and increased runes gained for solo players, the developer has confirmed the launch of a two-player mode, known as Duo Expeditions, 'at a later date'. The announcement came by way of a post on X/Twitter celebrating the 3.5 million sales milestone: 'On the dawn of the fifth day, 3.5 million Nightfarers took up arms against the Night. We are ever grateful for your passion.' 'But the Night is far from over,' it continued. 'In addition to the DLC releasing later this year, new additions will be gradually implemented, including enhanced fights against existing Nightlords starting this month, as well as Duo Expeditions at a later date. Thank you for your support.' Set in Limgrave, now named Limveld, the first open-world area of the base title, Elden Ring Nightreign can be enjoyed alone or in teams of three players, who collaborate over three in-game days to prepare for the final boss. It features elements from the battle royale genre, such as a shrinking gameplay area, and introduced eight playable characters at launch: Wylder, Ironeye, Recluse, Duchess, Guardian, Executor, Raider, and Revenant. For those who need it, a fan-made mode is already available, allowing players to enjoy the game with two players. Enthusiasts can also expect more Elden Ring goodness moving forward, including a film adaptation from A24 and bonus content in the Tarnished Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2. The studio's next project, The Duskbloods, will debut in 2026 as a console exclusive.
