James 'Arg' Argent was arrested in Spain after an altercation with his girlfriend Nicoline Artursson. The ex-TOWIE personality, aged 37, was taken into custody by the Spanish Civil Guard in Costa del Sol on Sunday, May 5, on suspicion of domestic violence.
The Mirror reports that Argent admitted "mistreating" Nicoline at the Court of Violence Against Women in Fuengirolal. He was given a suspended prison sentence and is required to complete a "resocialisation course in the field of gender violence." He has reportedly been given a restraining order preventing him from contacting the former Miss Sweden winner.
The Guardia Civil confirmed the arrest, stating: "We can confirm Mr Argent was arrested by 'Policia Local' of Mijas for an alleged crime of domestic violence on 5th May."
James Argent gained fame as an original cast member on The Only Way Is Essex, featuring on the ITV show from 2010 to 2018.

The singer has participated in various reality TV programmes, including Celebrity Super Spa, The Jump, Sugar Free Farm, and Celebs Go Dating.
In 2014, Argent was temporarily suspended from TOWIE, subsequently attending rehab before rejoining the series.
Speaking out for the first time since his arrest, Argent said: "I am devastated by what's happened." He told the Daily Mail that he hadn't relapsed, explaining: "I am still three years and four months clean and sober."

Speaking back in 2023, the reality star who works as a wedding singer, said: 'I battled with [drug addiction] for a number of years. But I've got through it and I'm doing alright. I'm doing well. I'm clean, sober, and I have been for a long time now.'

The man ran from sight when a police helicopter swooped over the remote area. His brother has now revealed Travis' 'violent' reaction when his family attempted to hold an intervention. Thomas, 35, told the Daily Mail that his brother tried to resort to violence during one family incident. Thomas found out that Travis was starting to abandon his family when he and his partner Whitney were beginning the divorce process. He said: "I told him, 'You can't leave your family like this. People get divorced all the time, if you are not happy in your marriage, that's okay." In a desperate bid to help Thomas and his father staged an 'intervention' with Travis at his house. He said: "We had hoped to have a good conversation with him - to ask him if he needed anything, any help, financial or otherwise. We are family, we want to help him and see what we could do to get him back on track. "'But things did not go well, he tried to resort to violence, because we were not supposed to be there and we just showed up unannounced,' said Thomas, who refused to elaborate further but clarified there was no physical violence." Thomas added: "The guy on the wanted poster for murdering my three nieces is not the brother I know. I can't even comprehend what is going on. I am in complete shock that he would do something like this. He loves his daughters – at least I thought he did. And Whitney is devastated beyond belief." Disney and Universal sue AI firm Midjourney for copyright infringement
Filed in federal district court in Los Angeles, the complaint claims Midjourney pirated the libraries of the two Hollywood studios to generate and distribute 'endless unauthorised copies' of their famed characters, such as Darth Vader from Star Wars and the Minions from Despicable Me. 'Midjourney is the quintessential copyright free-rider and a bottomless pit of plagiarism. Piracy is piracy, and whether an infringing image or video is made with AI or another technology does not make it any less infringing,' the companies state in the complaint. The studios also claimed the San Francisco-based AI company ignored their requests to stop infringing on their copyrighted works and to take technological measures to halt such image generation. Midjourney did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday. In a 2023 interview with The Associated Press, Midjourney CEO David Holz described his image-making service as 'kind of like a search engine' pulling in a wide swath of images from across the internet. He compared copyright concerns about the technology with how such laws have adapted to human creativity. 'Can a person look at somebody else's picture and learn from it and make a similar picture?' Mr Holz said. 'Obviously, it's allowed for people and if it wasn't, then it would destroy the whole professional art industry, probably the nonprofessional industry too. 'To the extent that AIs are learning like people, it's sort of the same thing and if the images come out differently then it seems like it's fine.' Major AI developers do not typically disclose their data sources, but have argued that taking troves of publicly accessible online text, images and other media to train their AI systems is protected by the 'fair use' doctrine of American copyright law. The case joins a growing number of lawsuits filed against developers of AI platforms — such as OpenAI, Anthropic — in San Francisco and New York. Meanwhile, the first major copyright trial of the generative AI industry is under way in London, pitting Getty Images against artificial intelligence company Stability AI.
