Michelle Trachtenberg Cause of Death & Health Issue Explained
Actress Michelle Trachtenberg was found dead in her New York City apartment in February, prompting intense public speculation and media coverage. Now, the official cause of death has been released, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding her final days.
Authorities found Michelle Trachtenberg dead in her New York City apartment on February 26, 2025. On April 16, 2025, the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed she died from complications of diabetes mellitus and ruled her death natural.
A spokesperson for the Medical Examiner's Office stated, 'The amended determination was made following review of toxicology testing results' (via PEOPLE). The spokesperson clarified that toxicology testing can be completed without an autopsy. Trachtenberg's family had objected to an autopsy after her death, leading to an initial classification of 'undetermined.'
Law enforcement responded to a 911 call on the morning of February 26 and found Michelle Trachtenberg unconscious and unresponsive. NYPD investigators determined there were no signs of foul play or criminal activity.
Sources told PEOPLE that Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant. Another source said the actress had 'told friends she was struggling' in the past year and described her as 'pale, gaunt, very thin, and dealing with health issues.'
In January 2024, Trachtenberg addressed public speculation about her appearance after posting a selfie on Instagram. She wrote, 'Fun fact. This is my face. Not malnutrition no problems.'
Trachtenberg began acting as a child in The Adventures of Pete & Pete and Harriet the Spy. She later starred as Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and as Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl. Her last public appearance was in February 2020 at a pre-Oscars event.
Following her death, former co-stars including Blake Lively, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Rosie O'Donnell shared tributes. Gellar wrote on Instagram, 'I love you. I will always love you,' quoting from the Buffy Season 5 finale. Rosie O'Donnell called the news 'heartbreaking' in a statement to PEOPLE.

Blake Lively Accuses Baldoni of Hypocrisy Over Support for Women
Blake Lively has slammed It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni, criticizing the latter's shift in approach to women's advocacy as legal tensions escalate between the two. The Gossip Girl alum alleges that Baldoni is undermining the voices of women's advocacy groups that have supported her. Blake Lively has taken a firm stand against Justin Baldoni. She has accused him of abandoning the values he once claimed to uphold. Through a statement issued on June 5, her representative took aim at Baldoni's legal strategy. They accused Baldoni of targeting women's rights groups that have publicly backed Lively in her legal fight against him. The spokesperson said, '19 leading survivors and organizations devoted to women's rights, children's rights, and domestic violence have now signed onto four separate amicus briefs.' They added, 'All are united in opposing Justin Baldoni's attempt to dismantle a law designed to protect women who speak up — simply to protect himself.' (via US Weekly) New briefs from Child USA and Sanctuary for Families have been added to the list. They join major groups like the National Organization for Women, Women's Justice NOW, and the National Network to End Domestic Violence. The spokesperson also added, 'Rather than defend his case on the facts, Baldoni is now contradicting years of his own public persona — abandoning the message of his #MeToo YouTube's, podcasts, TED Talks, and interviews, where he once upon a time urged men 'to listen to the women in your life.' Moreover, Lively's representatives argue that Baldoni's attempt to challenge these filings is a move aimed at suppressing support for survivors. This latest development follows a key ruling earlier in the week. On June 2, Judge Lewis Liman determined that Blake Lively's emotional distress claims would not proceed. This comes after her legal team moved to withdraw them. The judge also denied Justin Baldoni's request to obtain her private therapy and medical records. He noted that they were no longer relevant in light of the withdrawn claims. Originally reported by Disheeta Maheshwari on ComingSoon. Miley Cyrus's Completely transparent Gown Wasn't Her Only Statement on NYC Trip
Miley Cyrus brought her 'Walk of Fame' lyrics to life for a day out in New York City yesterday, 'walk[ing] the concrete like it's a stage.' For a full day of press for her ninth studio album Something Beautiful, the Grammy winner began the day signing autographs and taking photos with fans wearing a black sequin halter top with denim shorts, a black belt, fishnet tights, black and tan heeled boots, and shades. She posted photos of the look on Instagram with the caption, 'Your love not just today, but for nearly two decades means so much more to me than the words I can find at the end of a long, fulfilling day. You make my world go round. Thank you for showing up & supporting the release of Something Beautiful with me @roughtradenyc.' (That same day, Cyrus also stopped by the classic record store Rough Trade for a performance and signing.) That evening, she went for a more risqué look when she was spotted arriving at her hotel in a floor-length transparent black dress with a plunging neckline. She accessorized with a gold necklace, dainty hoop earrings, and shades. She switched up her hair, too, opting for a messy up-do. And while stopping to sign autographs, one fan in particular had a noteworthy experience to share. A man named Liam revealed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Cyrus signed the message 'the best Liam' on his Something Beautiful vinyl. Cyrus's ex-husband is Liam Hemsworth, so some fans saw it as a reference to him. Miley writing 'the Best Liam' on my vinyl😭 — ۟LIAM (@T0RTERRA) June 4, 2025 Later, to round out the day's many looks, she maintained the all-black theme and wore a halter black dress with intricate line detailing, black tights, and black pumps for an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. While sitting with Fallon, Cyrus revealed that her favorite song on the new album is 'Every Girl You've Ever Loved,' featuring supermodel Naomi Campbell. 'With Naomi, what I do is treat her the way I'd like to be treated,' she said. 'Call time? 5 P.M. Glam? Lots of glam. Lots of clothes. All fabulous things.' She went on to speak more about the album and why she was drawn to featuring Campbell on the LP. 'This project is such a dream and such a fantasy, and that's what I've always loved about supermodels and the runway and fashion. It's something that's so out of this world.'
