Emily In Paris looking for 500 extras - but there's one surprising requirement

Emily In Paris bosses have issued a casting call as they search for 500 extras to appear in the next season, but there's a huge catch that could hold hopefuls back
Emily In Paris bosses are looking for 500 extras to appear in its next season. The Netflix hit, which stars Lily Collins in the title role, normally shoots in the French capital but as filming for the next batch of episodes in Vienna after Emily moved to Rome, they have put out a call for several locals to act as background artists.

The block of filming for the fifth season of the hit comedy drama in question will take place until next Monday, and as part of the story, Emily will take a trip to the Italian city with love interest Marcello Muratori, played by Eugenio Franceschini. Scenes will be shot at landmarks such as Hotel San Daniele, the Santi Giovanni and Paolo basilica and the Grand Canal amongst a host of others so legions of extras will be required in order to realistically pad out the heavy tourist areas.

The casting call stipulates that, in order to be considered for a background part, women must be 'beautiful' and wear a dress size from size six to ten only. The call reads: "We are looking for beautiful extras, with a lean physique and size from 38 to 42." It comes after one huge TV star looks completely unrecognisable as she reveals latest facelift.

'Well-groomed, dry body, attractive' is also bluntly listed as criterion, and men must be size 46–52, and while 'all ages' will be considered, they must adhere to the physical requirements in order to be in with a chance of landing a role in the background. What's more, fans only have until midnight on 20 August to apply.
Away from the cameras, Lily, welcomed Tove, six months, with Charlie McDonnell and her co-star Lucien Laviscount, recently admitted she's juggling motherhood with her leading-lady duties like a total pro as filming ramps up on the new season.
Lucien, 32, who plays heartthrob Alfie in the series, says reuniting with the cast has been like no time has passed at all. 'It's so bizarre… life's been going on for everyone, but it only feels like a couple of weeks,' he says. 'We're getting the scripts through, it's like, 'Oh sh*t, this is crazy.' It's going off!'
He also had us laughing talking about his Schweppes campaign — a cheeky nod to his Caribbean roots and growing up with ginger beer at his grandma's. 'Schweppes was like the fancy stuff we bring out at Christmas,' he shared, adding with a grin, 'It was like a perfect little match, to be honest.'

Filming has taken place over the last few months and there is of drama ahead - both on screen and off - and Laviscount promises this season is one to watch. 'Everyone's really excited about what's to come,' he says. 'It's all there to play for, really.' Fizzing with energy, we say!
After months away from filming Emily In Paris, Lily's return to set was always going to be a welcoming affair. But Netflix star brought the entire set to a standstill as she returned to work with her four month old daughter in tow.
Cradling her in her arms, the 36-year-old actress looked the picture of happiness as she was surrounded by her cast mates and crew as they cooed over her baby girl, named Tove. And it looked as though the four month old was also in her element as she playfully smiled and sat comfortable in the arms of various pals of the actress.
The new series of the show is being filmed in Rome instead of Paris as Lily's character is now creating a new life for herself in the historical city with her on-screen boyfriend Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini.
Back in January, Lily and Charlie welcomed their daughter via surrogate. Sharing her happy news with her 29 million followers, Lily posted: "Welcome to the center [sic] of our world Tove Jane McDowell. Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again…"

Suranne Jones details 'rambunctious' experience shadowing Keir Starmer for thriller role

Suranne Jones has opened up about her 'rambunctious' experience shadowing Keir Starmer for her new Netflix thriller and detailed one fiery moment in particular Suranne Jones has opened up about her 'rambunctious' experience shadowing Keir Starmer for her new Netflix thriller. ‌ The former Coronation Street actress, 46, is now starring as fictional Prime Minister Abigail Dalton in Hostage, and follows the events that unfold after her character attends a summit with the French president Vivienne Toussaint (Julie Delpy) and her husband is kidnapped. ‌ As part of her research for the role, Suranne took a trip to Downing Street and ventured into the House of Commons, where she managed to catch a heated moment with the real-life Prime Minister. Speaking on Wednesday's edition of This Morning, she told hosts Sian Welby and Craig Doyle: "I did go to the House of Commons. It was great because when we then built our set, I'd been in the actual place. We did see Keir Starmer having a...[debate] it was quite rambunctious." ‌ The actress noted her disbelief at watching it all take place in front of her as she added: "There was a lot of shouting in there. You don't believe it til you see it!" The UK has only seen two female Prime Ministers in its time, with the late Margaret Thatcher having served a leader of the Conservative party from 1979 until 1990. In October 2022, Liz Truss became the shortest-serving Prime Minister in the country's history having managed to survive just 50 days in office. Suranne noted the lack of females in such a role of power but approached the role with a 'fresh' perspective, which she believes was necessary when taking into account the current political climate. She said: "We haven't got a lot of women to look at, have we? But that's another great thing. What I did and women in power, I wanted Abigail to be a fresh set of eyes, and the political landscape as it is, we needed that as it is." However, Suranne, who has carved out a stellar career in drama since leaving her role as Karen McDonald on ITV's flagship soap more than two decades ago, recently admitted she wouldn't want to take on the top job at number 10 in real life, mainly because of the amount of 'baggage' her new alter-ego has to carry round. ‌ She said: "A woman, before she's even put on her very high, hurty shoes, she has a lot of baggage and a lot of things that she is carrying: the way she looks, the way she dresses, the way she's been educated. "All of those things. How she behaves with her family or her background, everything, before she starts to go out into the world and getting judged for it. "Obviously, I'm well known. People recognise me. I try to keep a private element to my life, but then I do want to show support of the charities I work for and all of that stuff, and the community theatre that I like to give elevation to, so I drew on a lot of that stuff. But I wouldn't want to be a prime minister." ‌ She continued: "The early name for the show was The Choice and I think that's the thing, the choice of wanting a job like that, the choice of your family or your country. "It blows my mind, I can't even imagine... obviously, I had to because I play the prime minister, so I did have to imagine. But these big, big choices, they're huge and so it's just making people think." The five-part political thriller witnesses Dalton being blackmailed following her husband's kidnapping whilst he's working overseas, with the captors threatening his murder unless she steps down from office.

"Ensemble cast captured and held the audience attention," they continued. "It is a magnificent show," another person chimed in. "You can not miss it. Love is complicated. You come to know these peoples and get quickly involved in the story. I want to watch again." "Fantastic timeless series!" someone else enthused. "Watched three times since 2002 and still hits the spot. Brilliant!" The Forsyte Saga is currently available on Netflix

Alien: Earth star Adrian Edmondson's life from famous spouse to £250,000 planning row

Alien: Earth star Adrian Edmondson is best known for his comedy partnership with the late Rik Mayall as well as a decades-long marriage to another famous comic Alien: Earth boasts a stellar cast headed by Sydney Chandler and Timothy Olyphant, but also includes a recognisable face for British audiences. ‌ Comedy legend Adrian Edmondson plays Atom Eins, a high-ranking executive at the influential megacorporation Prodigy and trusted aide to Boy Kavalier (portrayed by Samuel Blenkin), the planet's youngest trillionaire. ‌ Most famous for his double act with late comedy partner Rik Mayall, the pair became household names through their acclaimed sitcoms The Young Ones, Filthy Rich and Catflap and Bottom during the 1980s and 90s. ‌ Recently, he's ventured into more serious acting territory, featuring in the ITVX thriller A Spy Among Friends and various sci-fi productions including Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Netflix's 3 Body Problem. With his entry into the sinister world of the Alien franchise, let's explore his personal life beyond the spotlight, reports Devon Live. Early Life Adrian Edmondson, 68, entered the world in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire in 1957, though his childhood was marked by constant relocation. His family spent years travelling globally to destinations including Cyprus, Bahrain and Uganda due to his father's role as an educator within the British Armed Forces. ‌ During his teenage years from 11 to 18, he settled back in Yorkshire at Pocklington School, a boarding establishment he confesses he despised. Speaking to Teachwire, he revealed he was "hit a lot, with sticks" as discipline, though acknowledges that he and his mates made it their mission to violate as many regulations as they could manage. ‌ Friendship with Rik Mayall Edmondson attended the Victoria University of Manchester, where he formed a comedy duo and lifelong friendship with Rik Mayall. The pair also became friends with Blackadder co-writer Ben Elton and immersed themselves in the alternative comedy scene. Mayall, who tragically died from a heart attack in 2014, had a quad biking accident in 1998 that resulted in head injuries. Edmondson confessed their partnership changed after that incident. ‌ He revealed to The Guardian: "I don't think we ever fell out. But it changed. Things became thinner." Marriage to another comedy legend Edmondson tied the knot with fellow comedy legend Jennifer Saunders, known for her role in Absolutely Fabulous, in May 1985, and they've remained together since. ‌ The couple first met at a comedy strip club where Saunders was performing, although Edmondson was in another relationship for five years before starting a romance with his future wife. They have three daughters: musician Ella, actress Beattie, and designer/stylist Freya. Despite keeping their personal life private, Edmondson shared the secret to their long-lasting relationship in The Telegraph: "We have always made a point of not interfering with each other's work. ‌ "And we never get jealous. That's the thing." They currently live in a listed building in Dartmoor, which is embroiled in an ongoing planning dispute with the council over a proposed £250,000 extension to their historic home. ‌ 'Miracle cure' The Alien: Earth star was seldom spotted without his iconic thick-rimmed spectacles throughout the majority of his career but has recently ditched them altogether. In 2023, Edmondson revealed his short-sightedness had been miraculously healed, decades after he first started wearing glasses at eight years old. ‌ Speaking at The Bath Forum, according to the Daily Mail, he said: "The short-sightedness I had can be seen if you like on an increasing graph over time. But as I got this ancient, the long-sightedness of old age has been creeping up from the opposite direction. "And at this precise moment in my life I am in the crosshairs where the short-sightedness has been cancelled out by the long-sightedness. And I can almost.. see." He then quipped to the crowd: "So I will be able to see if you try and nip out. I have locked the doors and cross-checked."
