Former Strictly winner admits 'I wouldn't be here today' without show triumph

Former Strictly Come Dancing winner Tom Chambers said "it's why I'm still here" as he looked back to his triumph on the show over 15 years ago.

After getting an appetite for acting during his school days, it wasn't until he was aged 29 that Tom got his first big break on the small screen. It was announced in 2006 that he was going to be the newest member of the once-popular Holby City, which ran for 23 years.

After staking his claim as one of the most important stars on the show, he made the somewhat unconventional move to swap acting for dancing after agreeing to participate in the 2008 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Then in its sixth series, Strictly Come Dancing was well on its way to becoming one of the country's most adored shows, like it is today.

Despite the move to Strictly coming at the same time he was starring in Holby City, he agreed that it didn't do his career any harm, as he told Candis magazine: "Absolutely. It's why I'm still here. It really put me on the map."

But, acknowledging that competing on the show was one of the most terrifying experiences of his life, he added: "It gave me 15 minutes of extreme fame. My father, Stuart, who is a chartered accountant put the glitterball in the window of his business in Matlock."
After seeing off competition from the likes of former GMTV presenter Andrew Castle, Christine Bleakley (now Lampard), Tom and his dance partner, Camilla Dallerup, made it all the way to the final beating Rachel Stevens, Vincent Simone, Lisa Snowdon and Brendan Cole to walk away with the coveted Glitterball trophy.

Since his triumph on the show all those years ago, he returned to the world of acting with roles in Waterloo Road, as well as brief stints in Casualty, Emmerdale and Midsomer Murders.
But he is now set to see his acting career hit the stage as he is due play the role of the famous fictional detective, Inspector Morse in House of Ghosts.

It is set to run from the end of this month in Birmingham before the tour concludes in Salford next April.
As Tom recently reflected on his time in Strictly, fans of the show are gearing up for yet another series of the beloved dancing show in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, their appetites have been whet in recent days with the announcement of this year's contestants, with names including; Vicky Pattinson, Dani Dyer, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Thomas Skinner.

David Haye 'in advanced talks to join I'm A Celebrity All Stars' over a decade after his first appearance on ITV show

Ex-boxing champ David Haye is reportedly in advanced talks to join I'm A Celebrity All Stars. The 44-year-old award-winning athlete is said to have been asked by ITV bosses to make his return to the spin-off show. David, who came in third in the main 2012 series, could be jetting off to South Africa for the upcoming All Stars version. A source told The Sun: 'David was delighted to get the call from ITV. 'As viewers know, no chats are off-limits around the campfire, so they can expect to see David grilled over his quirky relationships.' David has made headlines over being in three-way 'throuple' relationships with his girlfriend Sian Osborne and other women. He came third during his previous stint in the jungle, behind Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts and EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks, who won. Daily Mail have contacted ITV and David's representatives for a comment. ITV are reportedly lining up Ashley Roberts to return for the All Stars version, too. The former Pussycat Doll, 43, is believed to be a favourite of show bosses after she had some 'iconic moments soaping up in the outback waterfall', according to The Sun. Seann Walsh is also among those rumoured to be heading back to the jungle. The comedian originally jetted off to Australia for the ITV show in 2022 in the hope of 'redeeming himself' following the Strictly scandal four years prior. And during his time in the jungle Seann was popular with his campmates and viewers finishing in a respectable fifth place. Now the TV star is reportedly in advance talks with ITV about signing on the dotted line for the second series of the All Stars spin-off. Seann originally jetted off to Australia for the ITV show in 2022 in the hope of 'redeeming himself' following the Strictly scandal four years prior and finished in fifth place The first All Stars series of the show aired in 2023, and brought back former campmates Myleene Klass, who finished in first place, as well as Helen Flanagan, Jordan Banjo, Shaun Ryder, Phil Tufnell and Carol Vorderman. Fan favourites also in question are none other than Jungle King Harry Redknapp and Gemma Collins, according to The Sun. The popular former Spurs boss, 78, is said to be set for another huge pay cheque after reportedly earning £500,000 on 2018's main series. Meanwhile, Gemma is also on the verge of landing a mega-deal - reputed to be over £150,000 - despite quitting 2014's main show after just three days. A source told the publication: 'It's going to be a real coup.
