Soha Ali Khan Swears by This Morning Habit for Better Health—But There's a Catch
Soha Ali Khan swears by starting her day with raw garlic for its surprising health benefits.
On July 30, Soha Ali Khan shared a wellness tip with her Instagram followers that's equal parts simple and powerful: she's started eating a raw clove of garlic first thing in the morning. According to the actor, this tiny change has delivered significant health benefits.
Known for her dedication to fitness often documented through her energising workout videos on social media, Soha's latest lifestyle tweak adds to her growing list of clean, conscious habits.
She took to Instagram to share a video of herself eating a raw garlic pod. she writes, 'So for the past four weeks I have been starting my mornings with a little bite — of raw garlic 🧄✨
Why? Because this tiny clove is a powerhouse for immunity, gut health, inflammation, and overall balance. It's ancient wisdom that still holds strong 💪🏼"
She added, 'I take one raw clove on an empty stomach, chew for as long as I can to activate the magic compound allicin (tell me your best time!) and then swallow with water. If you are not brave enough to chew you can crush it and let it rest for ten minutes."
She adds a word of caution: it's not for everyone—those on blood thinners, with sensitive stomachs, or undergoing surgery should check with their doctor first.
In her post, she didn't shy away from the most obvious downside of the practice. 'PS: Yes, the garlic breath is real, but so are the benefits," she wrote candidly, adding a quick fix: 'So I suggest a good brushing of the teeth and a healthy dose of mouthwash after."
So, what exactly can this strong-smelling superfood do for your body? Raw garlic is packed with allicin, a natural compound known for its powerful medicinal properties. Eating it on an empty stomach may help boost immunity, improve digestion, reduce inflammation, support heart health, regulate blood pressure, and even contribute to better skin. While it may not be the easiest habit to adopt, the rewards—according to both Ayurveda and modern nutrition—are well worth it.

Is Your Cough Lingering Too Long? When to Worry About Lung Cancer
This Lung Cancer Day, let's raise awareness and encourage timely action because every breath matters As Lung Cancer Day draws attention to one of the world's deadliest cancers, it's time we pay closer attention to one of its most overlooked symptoms, a persistent cough. While most coughs resolve within a few weeks, a lingering cough, especially one lasting more than eight weeks, could be an early warning sign of lung cancer. Dr. Chandragouda Dodagoudar, Director, Medical Oncology, BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, shares all you need to know: Lung cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer globally. Chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, emphysema, or respiratory infections that don't go away or keep recurring may be highly related to underlying lung cancer. Today, Delhi's air quality is equivalent to smoking, even for non-smokers. Worryingly, there has been a rise in lung cancer cases among individuals who have never smoked, simply due to prolonged exposure to air pollution. Unexplained weight loss or fatigue: Cancer can disrupt your metabolism, leading to significant weight loss and low energy levels. Many people mistakenly attribute these symptoms to pollution, smoking, or aging. But when a cough doesn't go away, it's your body asking for attention. Early signs like a persistent cough can be crucial for early detection. Low-dose CT scans in high-risk individuals over 50 can significantly improve survival rates. Unfortunately, due to a lack of awareness, lung cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage. This Lung Cancer Day, let's raise awareness and encourage timely action because every breath matters. Don't ignore a cough that lingers. Listen to your body. Early action can make all the difference and save lives. view comments First Published: July 31, 2025, 13:26 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Digital beauty vs medical reality: Hyderabad youth chase insta faces; turn to surgery for real-life edits
An increasing number of young adults in Hyderabad, especially those in their twenties, are walking into dermatology and aesthetic clinics with high hopes and even higher expectations. Heavily influenced by social media filters, influencer content, and the quest for 'Instagram faces' or 'Korean glass skin,' many seek aesthetic transformations that defy anatomical and medical logic. 'They are no longer coming in for improvement, they want perfection, even when it doesn't match their body type or skin condition,' said Dr Rajetha Damisetty, senior dermatologist. Popular demands include lip fillers, skin boosters, jawline contouring, nose reshaping, and weight-loss solutions like liposuction, sometimes even in combination. Highlighting how emotional expectations often outweigh medical facts, a citybased plastic surgeon shared a recent case: A 28-year-old woman underwent liposuction to contour her body. While the surgery was clinically successful, the patient remained disappointed. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo She compared her post-surgery look with an old video of herself performing a belly dance and insisted, 'I don't look like that anymore.' The doctor, upon reviewing the video, found it had likely been filmed when the woman weighed less and was enhanced with flattering angles and filters. 'She was chasing a digitally frozen version of herself. But liposuction isn't a weight-loss tool, it's a contouring procedure. Yet patients expect to be reshaped into virtual avatars,' said Dr Priti Shukla, senior plastic surgeon and member of the International Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (IAAPS). In another instance illustrating the growing disconnect between digital influence and medical reality, a 22-year-old engineering student approached doctors after undergoing ten laser sessions for a large facial mole. Though advised that further procedures might not yield a better cosmetic outcome and could potentially worsen the appearance, he insisted on a skin graft based on information he found online. 'Even after showing him real-world outcomes, he remained convinced by internet theories that don't apply to larger skin patches,' the doctor noted.
