Rylan Clark gives update on mum Linda's health after latest hospital dash
Rylan Clark has provided an update on his mum Linda's health condition following her emergency hospital visit last Friday. The BBC presenter missed his Radio 2 show on Saturday to be by her side.
The television personality reassured fans on Saturday morning that she was recovering well. Rylan announced to his followers the good news that she would be discharged from hospital in time to celebrate her 73rd birthday on Sunday, July 20.
He wrote on Instagram, "Antibiotics have worked. Letting her home on orals. So she's home for her bday." He expressed his gratitude, saying, "Cheers, everyone, for your messages. Means a lot. Off sort wheelie bins x."
Previous updates from Rylan didn't disclose the reason for Linda's recent hospital dash according to reports in the Mirror, but he mentioned, "She's all good. Hoping she will be at home for her bday. She's now worried about wheelie bins going out again."
The update comes just days before Linda 's birthday this weekend. Although Rylan has remained quiet on discussing too many details on Linda's recent health scare, he assured fans he would keep them updated as "trooper" Linda recovers.
Rylan, who often shares the couch with his mum Linda on Celebrity Gogglebox, first broke the news on social media on Friday. He wrote: : "Mummy Linda isn't well, sadly, so I won't be hosting the show tomorrow."
The former Big Brother star went on to thank the medical staff, adding: "Thank you to the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Especially Tanya, who really looked after my mum. Will keep you updated as she's on the mend. She's a trooper."
He later shared, giving an update: "She's doing really well thankfully. All going good. Cheers for all ur messages."
The popular presenter, who hosts his own Saturday afternoon show on BBC Radio 2, was replaced this weekend by Richie Anderson.
Richie, 37, teamed up with former X Factor star Diana Vickers on the programme and reached out to listeners earlier for their "help" before chatting with Diana about her new podcast, Just Between Us.
On Instagram, Richie confirmed he would be filling in for Rylan, telling his followers: "I need your help. So tomorrow I'm sitting in for Rylan on Radio 2 and I'm gonna be joined in the studio by the icon Diana Vickers."
He encouraged fans to share their dilemmas, stating: "She's got a new podcast out, relationship agony aunt, so we wanna use her advice skills as we do 'Diana's Dilemmas'. So we want your fun household, family, and relationship dilemmas."
This comes shortly after Rylan announced that his mum Linda had finally joined Instagram, where she quickly gained over 110,000 followers. Last week, Rylan excitedly shared: "So we've finally done it. Linda is now on Instagram."
He also said: "Bear with as she gets used to it but give her a follow if you want," adding, "Can't believe this is happening."
Days later, Linda took to social media to post an update. Alongside a photo of herself, Rylan, and the Celebrity Gogglebox team, she penned: "Thank you for 100k followers! Still don't really know what it means but Ross is helping me. This is our lovely Gogglebox crew. Luv yas."

Spice Girls reveal secret reunion at Oasis gig years after 'feud' with Liam Gallagher
Oasis' Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher performed at Wembley Stadium last week and it's now been revealed that the Spice Girls' Mel C and Geri Horner reunited at one of the gigs Two of the Spice Girls reunited at an Oasis recently almost three decades on from rumoured tension between them. Mel C and Geri Horner were among the fans at Wembley Stadium for one of the rock band's shows last week. The Oasis Live '25 tour arrived at the stadium in London last month for five concerts ahead of additional shows at the venue later in the year. Mel, 51, and Geri, 53, were among those in the crowd at one of the gigs held last week. Geri had previously shared that she had met three of the Lionesses whilst in the audience. Now, in a post celebrating her birthday today, it has been revealed that 'Ginger Spice' reunited with her former bandmate Mel in the stands too. Mel, nicknamed Sporty Spice, paid tribute to Geri in a post on Instagram this morning for the occasion. She wrote: "Happy Birthday darling @gerihalliwellhorner, our Ginger Spice. Have an amazing day, love you to pieces." The post included a series of photos showing them over the years. It included a photo of Mel and Geri stood together in the stands at Wembley Stadium recently, with the former sporting a lanyard that featured Oasis' band logo. Mel is seen wearing a blue top and trousers, whilst Geri attended the gig in a white jumpsuit. It comes following speculation of a 'feud' between the Spice Girls and Oasis, which includes Liam Gallagher, 52, and Noel Gallagher, 58, in its line-up, years ago. Mel's previously said that there is "no beef" between them though. The rumour dates back to the BRIT Awards in 1997, when both bands were up for awards. Hinting an issue with the Spice Girls, Liam reportedly said that he wouldn't attend as he would "smack them" if he bumped into them. During the Spice Girls' acceptance speech for British Single of the Year, which was given to their debut single Wannabe, rather than Oasis' song Don't Look Back in Anger, Mel had a message for Liam. She said on stage: "I just wanna say, Liam, come and have a go if you think you're hard enough!" Years later though, she dismissed any suggestion of a feud by posing for a photo with Liam and some of her bandmates at the Olympics in 2012, following the Spice Girls' performance. The group were said to have partied together. More recently, as reported by On The Radio, Mel spoke about Liam when she guest hosted BBC Radio 2 's Sounds of the 90s in 2020. She was joined by pal Geri, who teased that she put "those boys" in their place at the BRITs in 1997. Mel is quoted as having said: "Yeah so Liam Gallagher had been bad mouthing us and I told him to come and have a go if he thinks he's hard enough. I'd actually never met him and I got to meet him a few months later and he was like 'c'mon then, scouse' kind of offering me out ... he's gone on to make some great records as well, so yeah, no beef."
