Last Saturday (2nd August 2025), Sony unveiled Tom Holland's new suit design for the upcoming 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' , premiering on 31st July 2026. While details remain scarce for the anticipated film, here's what we know so far:
1. New Spidey Suit Revealed
With the events of the last Spider-Man movie obliterating the foundation of what we know about Peter Parker, the Spidey Suit needed a whole revamp to accommodate the changes. 2. New & Returning Cast
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will bring back the initial Spider-Man casts, including Zendaya (MJ) and Jacob Batalon (Ned). 3. New Filming Locations & Leaked Info?
With filming kicking off this week, reporters from the BBC have shared some behind-the-scenes photos of Tom Holland filming in Glasgow, Scotland, last Sunday (3rd August 2025). A leaked video from bystanders on set has captured a heavy-duty armoured truck with a distinct logo that netizens have theorised to be that of the Inner Demons Organisation from the comics.
With that, netizens have also theorised that the newest villain for 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' would be the leader of the organisation, Mister Negative. However, Marvel has yet to confirm its full cast and official villain casting.

Malaysian Man Goes Viral For Being Credited In Marvel's 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps'

What could be better than seeing Malaysia mentioned or featured in a Marvel film? Having local talent involved in the production, of course! Whether on screen as an extra or behind the scenes, it's a point of pride to know that Malaysians are contributing to major Hollywood blockbusters. One such Malaysian has now been credited not for just one Marvel project, but several. In a post shared on Threads, 3D generalist Ahmad Hamidullah revealed that he was one of the many visual effects artists involved in the studio's upcoming film, 'The Fantastic Four: First Step'. 'Alhamdulillah. Another year, another Marvel movie. This time, I was credited in The Fantastic Four 🥳,' he wrote, sharing a screenshot of the end credits featuring his name alongside his team. Obviously, since the film was a huge success, Ahmad's post quickly went viral, with many expressing curiosity as to how he landed the job, what specific aspect of the film he worked on and how much he was paid for the project. The local artist explained that he works at the Kuala Lumpur branch of Base FX, a company specialising in visual effects, animation, high-end creature and character work, fluid simulations, and other dynamic effects. The company has contributed to several blockbuster hits, including 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' and the Oscar-nominated 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'. When asked about his role in 'The Fantastic Four', Ahmad shared that he was responsible for texturing and primarily handled 3D assets for the film, specifically for characters and elements such as Moleman, Subterranea, a retro bus, and various underground scenes. For those curious about his salary, that's quite a sensitive topic, so you're going to have to ask him personally about the payment for these projects. As Ahmad mentioned that he had worked on several Marvel projects, many were curious to know which ones they were. While he did not specify in his original post, his IMDb profile reveals that he was part of the visual effects team for the 'Deadpool & Wolverine' film as well as the 'Ironheart' series. It's so amazing to have our local talent shine in international blockbuster hits. We hope that more Malaysians will receive the same opportunity to work on these projects or even star in them! 'Bend It Like Beckham' is getting a sequel, confirms director Gurinder Chadha

The beloved 2002 football film is making a comeback in time for its 25th anniversary and the 2027 Women's World Cup. Photo: Handout More than two decades after it first won hearts around the world, Bend It Like Beckham is finally getting a sequel. Director Gurinder Chadha confirmed the news to the BBC over the weekend, teasing that she's currently developing a follow-up to the 2002 hit. The film revolved around 18-year-old Jesminder 'Jess' Bhamra, who was passionate about football, something her parents did not support, and Jules Paxton, a member of the local women's amateur football team who befriends Jess and invites her to try out for the team. Chadha announced the news in Basel on Saturday, where England's women's football team, the Lionesses, were preparing for the Euro 2025 final against world champions Spain. The timing, she said, felt just right. 'We've been part of changing the game for women, so it felt like this was a good time for me to go back and investigate the characters,' Chadha said. The film's sequel is being eyed for release in 2027, coinciding with both the 25th anniversary of the original and the Fifa Women's World Cup in Brazil. The original Bend It Like Beckham starred Parminder Nagra and a then-rising Keira Knightley as two teenage girls determined to pursue football in the face of cultural and societal expectations. It grossed nearly US$80mil worldwide on a modest US$4.6mil budget, becoming a defining film for women in sport — especially young British-Asian girls. Chadha revealed she had been asked 'almost twice a week' since the original film came out to consider a sequel. 'A lot has changed since the original movie, but I think that people still don't think that women should play football,' she said. 'There are people who still don't take it seriously, although the Lionesses are riding high.' While the exact format of the sequel is still undecided — it could be another feature film or perhaps a television series — Chadha is hopeful about bringing back the original cast. She also hinted at possible cameos from members of the current England squad, saying she imagines they'll be 'queuing up' for a chance to be part of the story. Chadha also spoke about the cultural impact of the first film. 'I intended to uplift girls, girls who grew up like me, who were always being told how to dress, how to look, what to say, what not to say,' she said. 'What I did was say you can do what you want, and you can have it all.' With women's football continuing to rise in popularity and visibility, Chadha believes there's more to explore. 'I think there's still stuff to say, and stuff to challenge,' she added. – Dawn/Asia News Network
