Jared Curtis 2024 state championship highlights
Curtis is the complete package at quarterback. It may take him a bit of time to adjust to the speed of college football like any other freshman. He has the talent to start right away as a true freshman if things click for him.
Curtis had one deflected pass that was lucky to not be intercepted, but did a good job of finding his guys a few times in tight coverage. The Nashville Christian star can extend plays and forces defenses to defend the entire field due to his dual threat ability.

Mariners' Victor Robles suspended 10 games for wild bat-throwing incident in minors

Victor Robles was suspended for 10 games for his on-field outburst on Sunday. The Mariners outfielder was on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma when he threw his bat at Aviators pitcher Joey Estes after nearly getting hit by a pitch on Sunday. Estes' pitch rode up-and-inside at Robles, who swung at it in apparent self-defense, fouling it off. Robles, 28, then tried to charge the mound but was held back by teammates and umpires before being ejected. 4 Seattle Mariners right fielder Victor Robles was ejected from Sunday's Triple-A Tacoma game after throwing his bat at a pitcher who had nearly hit him with an inside fastball. @barstoolsports/X 4 Robles immediately picked up the bat and hurled it at Estes, knocking off his helmet after almost being hit by the pitch. @barstoolsports/X The blowup continued in the dugout when Robles hurled a cooler and bags of sunflower seeds onto the field. Robles has been in the minors rehabbing a dislocated left shoulder after he suffered the injury making a leaping catch and colliding with the netting at Oracle Park against the Giants in San Francisco. He will serve his 10-game ban after he comes off the injured list. The outfielder had already been hit by a pitch three times in five rehab games for Tacoma, including twice last Tuesday, once on a pitch out of Estes' hand. After the incident, Robles took to social media to apologize for his explosion. 'I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for my recent reaction on the field. I let my frustration get the best of me, and I understand how that may have affected not just the game, but the energy and respect we all work so hard to maintain,' Robles wrote on Instagram. 4 Victor Robles of the Seattle Mariners waits for a pitch during an at-bat in a game against the Detroit Tigers at T-Mobile Park on April 1, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. Adding to that, the recent passing of my mother has been incredibly hard, and I've been doing my best to hold it together. That's not an excuse, but some context, I feel you deserve to understand where I'm coming from. 'Getting hit 5 times in 15 at-bats added to that pressure, and I reacted in a way I'm not proud of. This game means the world to me, and so do the people who play it. I respect every one of you – my teammates, the opposing players, and everyone in this league. I'm committed to being better, not just as a player, but as a teammate and competitor. I appreciate your understanding, and I'm grateful to be back on the field doing what I love. Thank you.'

The Fever lost their third player in the last three weeks to a season-ending injury after announcing on Tuesday that guard Sophie Cunningham would miss the rest of the year after suffering a leg injury against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday. Cunningham, who saw an increase in playing time after star guard Caitlin Clark went down with a right groin injury that's sidelined her for the last four weeks and the team lost both Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson to season-ending injuries back in early August, played just 10 minutes in Sunday's 99-93 overtime win over the Connecticut Sun before leaving in the second quarter with an apparent leg injury. Many well-wishes came pouring in on social media after the news was announced, and Clark immediately took to Instagram to send her sympathies to Cunningham, who many labeled as Clark's personal enforcer earlier this season. Cunningham had played in 30 of Indiana's 35 games this season, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while playing 25.2 minutes per night. Her injury is a devastating blow to the injury-ravaged Fever, and though there's still hope they can make a postseason run if Clark comes back in time for the playoffs, things look pretty bleak for Indiana, which has just four healthy guards — Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, Odyssey Sims, and recently signed Shey Peddy. Kirby Smart refuses to name Georgia's starting quarterback

Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart does not sound like he'll be naming Georgia's starting quarterback ahead of the season opener. Smart was asked if he would name redshirt junior quarterback Gunner Stockton as Georgia's starter. "Yes, so y'all can write about it (naming Stockton the starter)?" Smart said. "Nah." Smart's decision to refrain from naming Stockton as the starter should not come as a surprise. Smart likes as much competition as possible to bring out the best in his players. He tries to keep his press conferences out of the spotlight most of the time and this was no exception. Smart's decision to not name a starting quarterback differs from the approach several other college football coaches are using. Tennessee, Alabama, Notre Dame and Ohio State all recently named their respective starting quarterbacks. Georgia does not appear to have too much to gain from not naming a starter. The Bulldogs open the season against the Marshall Thundering Herd and then play Austin Peay the following week. When Georgia plays Tennessee in Week 3, every coach in college football will already know Georgia's starting quarterback. Perhaps the additional competition could help Gunner Stockton continue to take his game to the next level, but we'll find out soon enough on Georgia's Aug. 30 season opener. Kirby Smart explains what he expects out of Stockton "Good decisions, good decisions," Smart said. "Make good decisions, continue to develop, understanding situational football. "We've made football so complicated, some quarterbacks, I don't think they know the down and distance. I don't think they actually know, 'Do I have another down after this play, or is this my last chance to get the first down?' "It's just little things. Being a quarterback, understanding the game, understanding what the defense is doing. He's grown so much in regards to that. ID (identification) in protections, ID in run game. Playing quarterback is like being a computer. It's got a million things going on at once, and he's gotten better and better at handling those things. That's what I want to see him do when he gets the opportunity." College football quarterbacks have a lot put on their plate, but Gunner Stockton has been preparing to start for a long time. His preparation and experience are big reasons why he'll be Georgia's starting quarterback in Week 1 if Kirby Smart names him the starter or not.
