Here's The Biggest New Show Of 2025 No One Is Talking About

Mobland
I've noticed a sharp disconnect between many media critics and what people are actually watching around the streaming internet. Sometimes they overlap, like with endless thinkpieces on Netflix's Adolescence or HBO's White Lotus. Other times, things seem to be flying completely under the radar.
This appears to be the case with what is arguably the biggest new series of 2025, and I believe it's being ignored in part because of where it's airing, Paramount Plus, which is often not given the space it deserves by the media. See also big, somewhat ignored hits like 1923 and Landman. The new show we're talking about here is Mobland. This is the synopsis:
'The Harrigans, a London crime family, find themselves in a battle with the Stevensons that could end empires and their lives. Harry Da Souza is called upon by the Harrigans to be their "fixer" and to protect their family.'
The cast is exceptional. It stars everyone's favorite James Bond (sorry Connery and Craig) Pierce Brosnan, recently-departed Venom (with a ton of other great films under his belt) Tom Hardy, House of the Dragon standout and acting legend Paddy Considine and finally, Oscar-winner Helen Mirren as the matriarch of the central crime family. The entire thing is directed by Guy Ritchie of Snatch, Lock Stock, Sherlock Holmes, The Man from UNCLE, The Gentlemen, The Covenant and many other shows and films. Just an incredible pedigree for the series.
Mobland
And people are watching. Mobland broke a global launch record for Paramount Global with 2.2 million viewers for the first episode. It's also on the service's all-time list now alongside 1923 and Landman.
The series has gotten good reviews. A 79% critic score, verified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and a somewhat lower, but still positive audience score of 68%. Keep in mind massive hits on Paramount like 1923 have a 51% audience score and Landman has a close to identical 79% critic and 62% audience score. You don't need dual 100%s to find success in this business, only a good concept and great cast, which both those other shows have as well. Paramount has proven great at grabbing high profile stars as of late, with Harrison Ford and Billy Bob Thornton leading those other two series, and now this amazing Mobland cast.
Mobland has only just gotten started with two episodes, and the 10 episode run (which you see increasingly infrequently in the streaming era) is going to be on all the way through June, not doing a Netflix binge style drop. Expect a lot more chatter as more and more people discover it. Albeit perhaps not too many critics, it seems.

As Mister Romantic, John C. Reilly Just Wants to Spread Love

John C. Reilly has been a staple of Paul Thomas Anderson's films, starred in serious and satirical biopics, made a legend of a man-child stepbrother, and was nominated for an Oscar in 2003 for his haunting turn as Amos — 'Mister Cellophane' — in 'Chicago.' But the character closest to him just might be a know-nothing who emerges, openhearted and singing, from a box. For the past three years, Reilly, 60, has performed as Mister Romantic, a retro crooner who just wants to find everlasting love. A vaudeville-esque act of his own creation with mostly American songbook numbers — 'What'll I Do,' 'Dream' — and a backing band, it's a quasi-improvised set that has him interacting with the audience in a way that's sometimes wryly funny, sometimes tender and sad, but always sincere. Connection, of any kind, is the point. After a series of sold-out shows in Los Angeles, Reilly is taking his persona on the road, to Cafe Carlyle starting Wednesday. And he is releasing a concept album, 'What's Not to Love?,' his renditions of classics and more, on Friday. His alter ego's origins are deep-seated. 'I've been a romantic person my whole life,' Reilly said. 'My mother would play these standards on the player piano at our house, and I would sing along.' It was 'Mister Cellophane' that reawakened in him, he said, an appreciation for a bygone era of theatricality. He finished shooting the HBO series 'Winning Time,' about the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers, on a Friday, 'and on Monday night, I had my first Mister Romantic show,' he said. 'I was like, oh, I just want to get out onstage and express myself.' Image John C. Reilly's Mister Romantic project includes a cabaret show and a new album, 'What's Not to Love?' I'm completely hooked on this new Netflix thriller that's so intense I can't turn it off

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Gripping new thriller series The Survivors only landed on Netflix last week, but it has already secured itself a place in the streaming site's top 5 - and I can see why! The six-part series is based on the bestseller by Jane Harper, and as a fan of Jane's books, I knew this was going to be a show to look out for. However, little did I know just how hooked I would be right from the word go. Set in the fictional seaside town of Evelyn Bay in Tasmania, The Survivors follows Kieran Elliot, whose life was changed forever 15 years ago when his brother and best friend drowned while trying to rescue him from a terrible storm. While the small town was rocked by the terrible tragedy, a young woman called Gabby also went missing on the same night. However, this is a mystery that no one in the local area seems to talk about. But why? In the present day, Bronte, a woman from out of town comes to investigate what happened to Gabby on the fateful day she vanished. But, it seems someone in the town isn't happy about her digging up old secrets, and soon tragedy hits Evelyn Bay once again when Bronte also turns up dead. But who has killed her and what did she unearth that got her murdered? Amazingly, all this happens in the very first episode of the series, meaning the season kicks off with a bang, and it doesn't let up from there. Each episode is packed with twists and turns that even the most dedicated crime thriller fan won't see coming, and I can promise you this show will quickly become your next box set to binge-watch - but unlike so many others, you'll be watching this one through your fingers! All six episodes of The Survivors are available to stream worldwide on Netflix now.

The Last of Us Season 3 Confirms Major Change to HBO Show

Showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin have finally confirmed that The Last of Us Season 3 will officially center around the story of a different protagonist. This comes after more than two weeks since the second installment of the acclaimed HBO drama had wrapped up its seven-episode run. Season 3 will once again be based on co-creator Neil Druckmann's acclaimed video game sequel, The Last of Us Part II. The show stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. The latest installment has also welcomed new cast members to the acclaimed horror drama, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Manzino as Jesse, Isabela Merced as Dina, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny, with guest star Catherine O'Hara. Who is the new focus of The Last of Us Season 3? During a recent interview, Druckmann and Mazin have revealed that The Last of Us Season 3 will shift its focus to Kaitlyn Dever's Abby Anderson, who was the main antagonist of Season 2. Druckmann admitted that they were actually surprised that HBO let them change the show's structure, by giving them the creative freedom to follow their vision for the show. Advertisement 'I think it was good to go on that journey to end up at HBO, end up at a place that leaned into those controversial decisions, I guess,' Druckmann shared. 'But the decisions are just what the story required, and even now, it's like I can't believe that they let us structure the series in this way. Meaning like we just ended season two, and season three is going to be starring — spoiler alert — Kaitlyn.' He continued, 'I was sure that they wouldn't let us do this when we started adapting this, but they've leaned into what makes, I believe, the story special. And allowed us not only the time but the creative freedom to be able to take these swings, and I think the audience really appreciates that.' In addition, Druckmann and Mazin also briefly teased what fans can expect from Abby's season. 'It's more of a water season than a fire season,' Druckmann revealed, as Mazin confirmed, 'It's a wetter season than a hotter season.' (Source: THR) Originally published on SuperHeroHype.
