BJP hits out at Akhilesh over mosque meeting, clerics object to Dimple Yadav's attire

Lucknow, July 25 (UNI) The controversy surrounding former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav's political meeting inside a mosque refuses to die down, as the BJP and clerics continue their attacks on the Samajwadi Party chief.
On the other hand, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, national president of the All-India Muslim Jamaat, condemned Dimple Yadav's conduct and attire during the meeting, alleging that it violated the sanctity of the mosque.
He referred to her as a 'political Hindu woman' and claimed she failed to maintain the appropriate decorum expected within a mosque.
'A mosque is the house of God, and no political party meeting should take place there,' Razvi said.
The gathering was reportedly arranged by Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi, the Imam of the mosque at Parliament Street in Delhi.
Razvi also alleged that, along with Akhilesh Yadav, SP leaders such as Dharmendra Yadav, Zia Ur Rehman Barq, and several other Hindu individuals were present inside the mosque during the meeting.
The presence of two women, he noted, was against Sharia principles.
He demanded that Maulana Mohibullah seek forgiveness and apologize to the Muslim community for his actions, accusing him of turning a sacred space into a political platform. 'If he does not seek forgiveness, Muslim organizations will launch protests against him and appeal to the mosque committee to dismiss him from his position as Imam,' he added.
The BJP also launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party chief, saying that 'writing slogans on posters does not change one's deeds.'
The criticism came in response to a poster displayed outside the SP headquarters, which claimed that Akhilesh Yadav refrains from divisive politics and avoids using religious sites like temples and mosques for political purposes.
BJP spokesperson Manish Shukla said, 'Samajwadi Party's politics is deeply entrenched in religion. Akhilesh Yadav's attempts to mix politics with religion are well known. His wife, Dimple Yadav, accompanied him on one such visit, drawing criticism from several clerics.'
Shukla said, 'During a meeting near the Parliament complex, Dimple Yadav was questioned by a cleric over her attire and behaviour inside the mosque. The cleric even demanded an apology. Had a Hindu priest made such remarks, SP's online supporters would have erupted in anger against the Hindu community. But since the criticism came from within their vote bank, there has been complete silence.'

"Come Back": Mamata Banerjee Says Bengalis Facing Atrocities Outside State

New Delhi, Kolkata: Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has alleged that Bengalis are facing "atrocities" outside Bengal -- especially in BJP-ruled states -- and urged them to "come back". Alleging that migrant workers from Bengal are facing atrocities in Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Assam, she questioned why the non-Bengali communities cannot offer shelter to Bengalis. "If I can give shelter to everyone here, why can't you? I was told yesterday Bengali's have been asked to leave Delhi within one month," she added, addressing a public meeting in Birbhum. "Those who are facing atrocities in other states -- I tell them to come back. We are ready to assist you. We You will bring you back home in trains. We will share rotis with you. You will be benefited with health schemes," the Chief Minister said today. People from Bangladesh, who have legally entered India post-independence till March 1971, they still speak in a Bangladeshi dialect because that time Bangladesh was part of India, she said. But now they are discriminated against because of their dialect, she said. Underscoring that she is not against any language or any divisive policy, she said, "We want unity in diversity. I never tell any Hindi speaking person to leave Bengal". "When people from Gujarat were pushed by Trump (US President Donald Trump) it was disrespect to Gujaratis. I don't support that. Leaders did not speak a single word on this. People from Bengal are very talented. They work for NASA and other big universities," she said. Ms Banerjee also claimed the current BJP government at the Center will not be able to run till 2029. "What will happen then. Where these BJP men will go? Have you identified any place for that?" she said.

Ensure No Name is Excluded from Voters' List: Mamata's Message to BLOs

Taking to X, National convenor of BJP's IT cell, Amit Malviya said, 'West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is now openly threatening Election Commission officials — saying they work for the state and shouldn't follow directions from the National Election Commission! Why this desperation? To shield her illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya vote bank.' 'She's brazenly opposing a clean, verified voter list — because TMC's survival depends on fake voters. Mamata Banerjee knows that without bogus votes, TMC will collapse. This isn't just political arrogance — it's a direct assault on India's Constitution and democracy!' he alleged. The Chief Minister also asked the BLOs to keep an eye on the names of long-time voters in the state so that they are not left out of the voter list. Giving an example she said, 'Suppose a boy goes on a trip for four days, will you remove his name? Does it happen?' The Chief Minister also advised the District Magistrates to "keep their eyes and ears open", while expressing dissatisfaction with their work. 'The District Magistrates should keep their eyes and ears open. Many times, I see District Magistrates are giving responsibility to someone below them. 1000 people have been taken to Delhi for training. The District Magistrates should have told me or the Chief Secretary. But they did not do that,' she said in the meeting. After Bihar, the Election Commission may start the SIR exercise in West Bengal too. Although the ECI has not made any formal announcement on the date of commencement of this exercise in West Bengal, a section of the BLOs who will be associated with this work has been trained in phases. The training was conducted in Delhi on July 17-18. Similarly, a training programme was organized at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata yesterday. The Chief Minister said that the state was not aware of the ECI training programme in Delhi. Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Monday alleged that 'the ECI is working as a BJP puppet to favour one party'. He said, 'They are torturing Bengalis in the name of SIR. Yesterday in Bihar, a dog's name was used to issue a residential certificate, and that was used to generate a voter ID card. That means people's right to vote is being taken away, and dogs are getting the certificates.' Meanwhile, in the administrative meeting, West Bengal Chief Minister also raised the issue of "torture" and "harassment" of migrant workers from West Bengal in other states. She ordered to bring back the migrant workers of Bengal who want to return to the state. She asked Chief Secretary Manoj Pant to sit with Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Samirul Islam and West Bengal Minister Malay Ghatak on this issue. Banerjee informed that about 22 lakh migrant workers of the state are working in different states. She said that they will be given 100 days of work when they return to the state. Ration cards and swasthya sathi cards will also be issued to them.

Monsoon session of MP Assembly begins amid light showers of rain and protest from Congress

Bhopal: The Monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly started on Monday amid light showers of rain in the state capital Bhopal, however, the House witnessed some heat on the first day. The session started with customary welcome of Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar by the Leader of House Kailash Vijayvargiya, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Umang Singhar and other senior Ministers in the House. On the first day, the House functioned only for a brief period and was adjourned till 11 a.m. on Tuesday, following paying homage to former leaders who passed away and offering condolences over tragic incidents which occurred in the country, including the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad (Gujarat). An exhibition, highlighting 'Jal Ganga Samvardhan' and achievements of the Chief Minister Mohan Yadav-led BJP government was also set up at courtyard of the Assembly. Chief Minister Yadav and along with Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the exhibition. On the other side, before entering the House, Congress MLAs led by LoP Singhar assembled near Mahatma Gandhi's statue at the Assembly premises and held a symbolic protest, accusing the BJP government of adopting "double standards" on the OBC reservation issue. The Congress MLAs reached the Assembly holding banners and posters, accusing the BJP government of being "Girgit" (chameleon). "The BJP government is not willing to implement 27 per cent reservation policy for OBCs, but the Congress will keep pressing its demand from every stage until the state government makes its stand clear," Singhar said. Congress has made an elaborate plan to corner the BJP government on various key issues throughout the 12-day Monsoon session, as they raised the OBC reservation issue for the first day. However, Congress and BJP here in Madhya Pradesh have been taking each other on the OBC reservation issue since long. The Kamal Nath-led Congress government had increased reservation quota from 14 to 27 per cent in 2019. The matter is being heard in the Supreme Court. Interestingly, the Congress MLAs held a protest despite a directive was issued banning the protest and its use of banners and posters at the Assembly premises. The directive, issued by the Assembly under Standing Order 94 (2), bans symbolic displays, including masks, props, placards, horns and even gestures in the Assembly, terming it 'disruptive'. The move comes in the wake of the Opposition taking recourse to all kinds of symbolic protests such as wearing black masks symbolising government secrecy, displaying fake snakes to highlight unemployment problem and skeleton costumes to expose alleged corruption in the last Assembly session.
