The second season of Wednesday will be 'very intense' and have horror movie moments, the creator has promised.
The hit Netflix show first premiered in 2022, following Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams as she attended Nevermore Academy – a school for children with supernatural powers – and promptly found herself smack bang in a murder mystery.
She was joined in the star-studded cast by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán, who played parents Morticia and Gomez, while Emma Myers stole the show as her roommate, Enid Sinclair.
It became a runaway success and is the streamer's most-watched program of all time, with more than 250million views – beating Stranger Things season four, and Adolescence.
Ahead of the second season finally being released in August, co-creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough shed light on what we can expect, teasing that things at Nevermore get very dark for Wednesday and co…

'There's some moments which are definitely horror movie-worthy,' Miles told Entertainment Weekly. 'We have that in season one, but I think this season there are moments that are very intense, I'll say.
'Season two definitely has some moments which are more straightforward horror, and we're very aware that the show is watched by everybody in terms of the age groups.
'So we want to make sure that it's never torture porn, but that there's enough bite to it that it feels that there are real stakes and that people die in this world, and it's scary at moments. And I think that's the great tonal shift that the show makes between comedy and horror.'
'The mystery is a little more complex than season one, but I also just feel like the world is bigger and you get to really explore other characters,' Alfred added.
'Wednesday's not in every scene, so you get to learn more about Enid, you get to learn more about Bianca [Joy Sunday].'
Although fans still have a few months before getting their hands on the new episodes – with part one being released on August 6, before part two lands the following month – many were thrilled over the update.
Flocking to Twitter to unpack the remarks, Micol yelled: 'HORROR IN WEDNESDAY FINALLY THANK YOU JENNA ORTEGA.'
Terry agreed: 'This is the *exact* type of improvement I was hoping to see.'
Eloise added: 'Wednesday baby I love you so much but I'm so happy we really are getting to know Enid and Bianca more.'
Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd and Haley Joel Osment are among the newcomers for season two. More Trending
The official synopsis reads: 'Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await.
'This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem.
'Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.'
Wednesday season 2 will be premiering on Netflix on August 6.

Doctor Who star breaks silence on surprise exit after rumours of bitter BBC row

Ncuti Gatwa has left his role as the Doctor after just two years and Billie Piper is set to take over after his regeneration on the show's latest season finale Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa has spoken out about his departure from the beloved sci-fi series. The actor, 32, who first gained widespread recognition in Netflix 's Sex Education, said an unexpected emotional farewell during the dramatic season finale on Saturday night. After two series flying through space and time to put the universe to rights in the TARDIS, Ncuti has officially stepped down from his role as the Time Lord. His successor has already been confirmed as Billie Piper, who previously played the Doctor's companion Rose Tyler in 2005. After speculation that this exit is happening as a result of a rift with the BBC, Ncuti has addressed his departure in a video, explaining that the demands of the role had taken a toll on him both physically and mentally. ‌ ‌ He shared: "It's a role that demands a lot of you physically and emotionally and mentally. The actors playing the Doctor are only actors playing the Doctor. Unfortunately, we are mere mortals. "I would love to have the energy and the youth to be able to do this full time for the rest of my life, but my knees are telling me it's time." He also took to social media to reflect on the wild journey his version of the Doctor had experienced over the last two years. ‌ Ncuti wrote: "'Monsters, goblins, gods, human-eating Slugs, invisible brain altering creatures, evil barbers, conspiracy theorists… you've had quite a busy two years. Well done and rest up son. Thank you endlessly XV." In his farewell message, Ncuti also acknowledged how hard it is to say goodbye to the role, saying: "You know when you get cast, at some point, you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it. This journey has been one that I will never forget and a role that will be part of me forever. ‌ "There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe." His comments come in the wake of online speculation that he had been suddenly dropped from the role. Some fans pointed out that Ncuti previously said he was preparing to film another season of Doctor Who, and questioned what prompted the change of plan. One posted online saying: "In October 2024, Ncuti Gatwa was on The Graham Norton Show saying he was going to be filming another series of DW [Doctor Who] next year. In June 2025, he officially leaves the show and regenerates. This was never the plan. What a shame." However, the BBC was quick to shut down those claims. A spokesperson said: "Whilst we never comment on the future of the Doctor, any suggestion that Ncuti Gatwa has been 'axed' is pure fiction." Now Billie Piper is going to be the second woman ever to play the Time Lord, following Jodie Whittaker, who also made a surprise cameo in the finale.

Rock legend, 78, wheeled off stage in coffin during bizarre exit

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Gig-goers at London's Alexandra Palace were left baffled as a rock icon's show wrapped up with a huge coffin being wheeled out onto the stage. A lone arm waved from the black box, prompting laughter from the onlookers as they realised star of the show and music legend, Iggy Pop, was inside. As the huge coffin faced the front, the shirtless rocker opened the lid and smiled at the crowd shouting 'bye' and basking in the applause. Posting to his social media the 78-year-old star quipped: 'London was a hoot! How you exit is equally important to how you enter.' This marked the penultimate show in a handful of UK dates for the Grammy winner's Lust For Life tour, before he heads to Glasgow on June 3. Iggy kicked off the gig with TV Eye, a song he rose to fame with as a member of The Stooges. He blasted through over 20 hits before wrapping the show – before his coffin exit – with Funtime. The legend had previously performed at Manchester's O2 Victoria Warehouse before heading to London. He's off to In The Meadows festival in Dublin, Ireland, next then to a string of gigs in mainland Europe over the summer. The American rocker will head back to the States for two July gigs before jetting back over to Denmark, Sweden, Brazil, and Argentina. Fans were living for his coffin antics in London, with ktorreg writing on X: 'Only iggy … 😉 … may he long reign … 🔊🎶🎸.' 'Punk's not dead 🤘' added post_punk while Ingeastrid said: 'Always that smile…mischievous charmer.' Off-stage, life is much less rock and roll for Iggy who revealed at Cannes Film Festival he 'likes baths, sometimes with a rubber duck and bubbles'. More Trending He continued: 'Sometimes I get really upset if it's getting late in the day and I think to myself that I haven't done anything I really like. And music is what gives me pleasure you know, well music and the sea.' 'That's my default setting, so I'm always putting my pleasure first – I can get really desperate to seek pleasure – and when that happens usually it means someone takes me to the beach.' According to the rocker, about 95% of life is about being 'chill' rather than raising hell, despite what his on-stage persona might suggest. Got a story?
