Is Harry and Meghan's Netflix deal being renewed? Here's what we know

Extra.ie23-07-2025
While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made headlines with multi-million dollar deals with the likes of Netflix and Spotify, it seems that the last of Harry and Meghan's media contracts isn't getting extended.
You might recall that the Royal pair had agreed to part ways with Spotify in 2023 after the streamer decided not to renew their Archetypes podcast for a second season. The podcast had been part of a $25 million deal made in 2020 after they left the UK for the US.
The original Netflix partnership saw the couple sign a reported $100 million deal in 2020 and now sources are telling The Sun this deal is also not being renewed. The source said: 'There's no animosity from either side. Things have just run their course.' Meghan Markle in With Love, Meghan. Pic: Netflix
People spoke to a Hollywood insider about the rumours, and they added that the deal not being extended 'reflects a shift in Netflix's broader business strategy'.
One of the reasons this news might come as a surprise to many is that The Duchess' lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, had been renewed for a second season, but it turns out, it has already been filmed with Chrissy Teigen being the first confirmed guest star.
The first season was released on March 4, 2025, after being delayed due to the fires in Los Angeles earlier in the year, and recent figures released by Netflix shows it ranked No 383 with 5.3 million views. Meghan serves as both host and executive producer, and the series shows her hosting friends like Mindy Kaling in her home and sharing her cooking, entertainment and lifestyle tips with viewers.
She also launched her new lifestyle brand, As Ever, alongside the series, and Netflix is also a partner on the brand. Matt Cohen, Brian Kocinski, Heather Dorak, Doria Ragland, Prince Harry, Genevieve Hillis, Julian Zafjen and Meghan in With Love, Meghan. Pic: Netflix
The move by the streaming giant to not renew the deal doesn't seem to be a personal one, with them doing something similar with the Obamas and their Higher Ground production company.
The former President and First Lady had a similar multi-project agreement with Netflix which later evolved into a first-look agreement, so it doesn't mean the company won't team up with the Sussexes again down the line.

The showrunner also defended some of the series' more raunchy plotlines after viewers took to social media to label The Hunting Wives as "perverted" and vulgar. "It's so fun, and juicy and sexy. Everyone is behaving so badly," she told the New York Post. "I wanted to do an exploration of women behaving badly, unapologetic sexual conquest running rampant, and just something fun." Rebecca also praised Malin's ability to embrace her sexuality during her nude scenes, as Margo starts an affair with her 18-year-old son's best friend and falls pregnant. Gregg is a short 4/1 to head to the Aussie jungle in November while John is sitting closely behind him at 6/1 odds, according to betting agency William Hill. Other big names tipped to star on I'm A celeb, according to betting odds include, boxer Tyson Fury, TV star Denise Van Outen and Coronation Street star, Will Mellor. The Beeb has decided to go ahead with airing the new season of MasterChef, which features Gregg and John as hosts, because it was recorded before the report was commissioned. 'News that the BBC will be airing the new series of MasterChef with Gregg Wallace and John Torode despite sacking the pair last month has prompted speculation about where they might appear next, and we've added both to our market for who will take part in I'm A Celebrity this year," said Lee Phelps, spokesperson for William Hill. Series 21 of MasterChef hit the BBC today and fans noticed huge changes. As the six amateur cooks made their first dishes for John, 60, and Gregg, 60, they noted how the 'banter' between the hosts was virtually non-existent. Interaction between the hosts and contestants had also been edited back. Instead, the interactions were much more factual about the dishes themselves and the contestants' backgrounds. Gregg had hosted MasterChef alongside John since 2005 and has also fronted other BBC programmes including Inside the Factory and Supermarket Secrets. Gregg and John Gone In an explosive sit down interview with The Sun, Gregg said that he was not a 'groper, a sex pest or a flasher'. He also backed John, who had an allegation of racism upheld against him, during the probe into Wallace's behaviour on July 15. Gregg told The Sun: 'He is not a racist.' The dossier into Wallace's behaviour included a complaint that an unnamed person used a racial phrase once several years ago. Torode confirmed it referred to him, but said: 'I have absolutely no recollection of this, and I do not believe that it happened.' 5 The new I'm A Celeb series is due to start in November Credit: Rex
