PNP: 12 reported dead, 9 missing due to Crising, Habagat
Twelve people were reported dead due to the impact of Tropical Cyclone Crising and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday.
Citing information from PNP public information office chief Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño, Super Radyo dzBB's Mark Makalalad reported on Dobol B TV that most of the reported deaths were recorded in Calabarzon with five.
This was followed by Negros Island Region with three.
One fatality was reported each in Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Northern Mindanao, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARRM).
The victims died due to drowning and falling trees.
Meanwhile, Makalalad said that based on the same information, nine people were reported missing and seven others were reported injured.
The information from the PNP is up for validation by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

LPA outside PAR now tropical depression
The low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression, PAGASA said Thursday afternoon. As of 3 p.m., the tropical depression was located 2,730 kilometers east of Northern Luzon and heading north at 10 km/h. The Habagat will bring the same weather conditions over Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Palawan, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Davao Oriental. These moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods and landslides. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will persist over the rest of the country due to the Habagat. These severe thunderstorms may cause flash floods and landslides. State meteorologists also said Northern Luzon will experience moderate wind and coastal water conditions. Winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country. Southwest monsoon, LPA to trigger rains across PH
The Southwest Monsoon or habagat and a low pressure area (LPA) will affect several areas of the country, bringing cloudy skies and rainshowers, PAGASA said in its weather bulletin on Thursday. At 3 a.m., it said the LPA was estimated at 380 kilometers northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte or 390 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora. Due to the LPA, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms. Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, the rest of Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Northern Samar will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms as a result of the LPA. Rains, cloudy skies possible over parts of Luzon due to LPA
Most parts of Luzon will experience cloudy skies, rains, and thunderstorms because of the low pressure area, PAGASA said in its Wednesday afternoon forecast. At 3 p.m., the LPA was spotted 245 kilometers east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, or 370 km east of Daet, Camarines Norte. It has a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours, along with the LPA located 2,865 km east of Northern Luzon as of 2 p.m. However, the LPA in the east of Catanduanes is expected to affect the weather conditions in Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, Aurora, and Marinduque, according to PAGASA's 4 p.m. daily weather forecast. The LPA will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Visayas, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Central Luzon, the Bicol Region, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, and Romblon.
