Strictly Come Dancing star Ore Oduba said he 'feels like a fool' as he emotionally recounted his close-call scamming experience in a bid to help others.
The 39-year-old TV presenter took to Instagram with a six-minute video to his followers explaining how his dream podcast invite quickly turned into a nightmare after he realised it was fake.
Oduba started the video explaining that he has been a long-time fan of acclaimed self-help author Mel Robbins, the writer of the bestselling book The Let Them Theory, and even attributed it with changing his life.
After discussing the impact the Robbins has had on his life on Loose Women, he reposted the interview on his social media, tagging Robbins (who also hosts a hugely popular podcast) in the post.
Soon after, Oduba received an email from someone alleging to be from the motivational guru (and her team) thanking him for his words and asking him to share more about how the theory had changed his life,

'I could have cried,' Oduba told his followers. https://www.instagram.com/p/DMUfa3pNZui/
He continued: 'Had I been wise enough, I would have seen there were a couple of things that were a little bit off.
A week later, he was invited as a guest on her podcast.
Recounting what it meant to receive this invitation, he started to become visibly emotional.
'Do you even know what it means? It just felt very powerful to have got that message at that time. And it's terrible because I'm reading this back and I know exactly how it made me feel at the time,' he said through tears.
'I absolutely lost my s**t in tears on an Avanti West Coast train from Birmingham to London, thinking that my whole life was about to change,' he added, admitting that he went on to share more personal stories on the email chain.
After being asked by the person over email to keep this between the two of them, Oduba grew suspicious and started to notice discrepancies such as Mel being spelt 'Mell' and a Chat GPT style tone to the correspondence.
It was then he discovered a section on Mel Robbins' official website where you could check if you were being scammed by someone claiming to be someone from her podcast – after which it confirmed he was a victim of this scam.
The media personality reminded his followers that he used to host a programme about scammers, BBC's Claimed and Shamed, and that he has 'watched enough Watchdog to last a lifetime'.
'That doesn't stop me from being in the middle of it. I never thought I would be a person that would be scammed,' he added as he expressed his concern at how easy it is for 'more vulnerable' people to dig themselves into holes they can't get out of.
'I just feel like such an idiot. Let it be a lesson that, unfortunately, while Mel and her team are wonderful and doing incredible things there are a whole bunch of people trying to make all of us into absolute mugs.
'I feel like a fool. I got scammed by a fake Mel Robbins,' he concluded.
People have shared their sympathy in the comments.
Fellow presenter Sean Fletcher commented: 'So sorry to hear this Ore. I was excited and then so gutted for you listening to this. Important to share your story. Hope you're ok.'
Amandakbarnfield, echoed: 'Huge props for sharing this – it will hugely help so many people.'
'Very brave to have shared this and very noble to have done so to warn others. That's the biggest takeaway from this,' yviemck1978 agreed. More Trending
Last year, Oduba, who rose to fame on Newsround, spoke about the pitfalls of his decision to step back from presenting and focus on his musical theatre career.
There was one point at the end of last year where he had no work lined up for the whole of 2025 until he finally secured a role in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (which happened earlier this year).
He told the Sun: 'Up until that point, I was basically unemployed for all of 2025. It's just quite terrifying. It's the self-employed life.

'Especially when contracts can be quite long periods. And if you're holding out for something and you haven't got that big chunk taken up, it just looks really freaking empty. So, we've gotten very fortunate to have panto.'

Ozzy Osbourne predicted his epitaph would be about bats - this one isn't

The fact that Ozzy never took himself too seriously, made people love him all the more (Picture:) When my biography of Ozzy Osbourne was released in 2002, it flew off the shelves. It was an instant best-seller as fans flocked to read more about a man who was a genuine British eccentric. Gentle, funny and never anything less than 100% authentic, his frailties and insecurities only served to make him more human to us. And the fact that Ozzy never took himself too seriously, made people love him all the more. 'I know I'm just some bloke who won the lottery, it could easily have gone the other way for me,' he said. While Ozzy might be most famous for Black Sabbath, it was his unlikely reality series that gave fans all over the world – old and new – an insight into his character. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page The Osbournes was the series that would change the face of fly-on-the-wall television for ever. Before the Kardashians came The Osbournes, the docu-soap that made stars of heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne, his wife Sharon and their children Kelly and Jack. The show was a revelation – showing the Prince of Darkness as he'd never been seen before. For while almost every other utterance was a swearword, in every other respect the wildest man in rock appeared every inch the archetypal sit-com dad – 53 years of age, genial, flustered and completely baffled by his family and the modern world. The combination of eccentricity, celebrity and a complete lack of self-awareness was TV gold (Picture: Mtv/Kobal/REX/Shutterstock) The Osbournes was funny primarily because Ozzy wasn't actually trying to be. Viewers saw him struggling to change a bin liner, battling unsuccessfully with the TV remote control and collecting his incontinent dog from the vet. The combination of eccentricity, celebrity and a complete lack of self-awareness was TV gold and the show was an instant hit, pulling in more than six million viewers in America every week – the highest-rated show in MTV's 20-year history. When it was shown in Britain the ratings went off the scale. Just 10 years earlier, the man who had bitten the head off a bat, had seen his albums slapped with parental warning stickers. The show was a revelation – showing the Prince of Darkness as he'd never been seen before (Picture:) Now, hilariously, he was the one trying and failing to establish family values with his kids in his own inimitable way. In one unforgettable episode, teenagers Kelly and Jack are preparing for a night out when Ozzy – who was clean at the time, having long battled drug and drink issues – called them into the kitchen to deliver a little fatherly advice. 'Don't get drunk or stoned tonight. I'll be f*****g p****d off because I can't,' he warned. 'And if you're gonna have sex, wear a condom.' Before The Osbournes, a TV show based on Ozzy had been under consideration for a while and scriptwriters spent time with the family in order to come up with a show based on the rocker's life. Ozzy Osbourne at home two weeks after the birth of his baby boy Jack (Picture: Mike Maloney/Mirrorpix via Getty Images) Quickly realising that the Osbourne family's humour was far funnier than anything planned, they suggested a fly-on-the-wall series, where a full-time TV crew moved in, setting up cameras and filming with the family 24 hours a day. At the heart of the show was Ozzy's relationship with his wife Sharon. And while the couple bickered and fought, their love for each other shone through and to their kids' horror they were openly affectionate with each other around the house. Many episodes were spent feuding, but they were never happier than when united against a common enemy, including their next door neighbours, ironically accused of disturbing the Osbournes when they invited friends round for a folk-singing session bashing out tunes such as Kumbaya. 'You w*****s' have no respect!' Ozzy hilariously yelled. At the heart of the show was Ozzy's relationship with his wife Sharon (Picture: M. Caulfield/WireImage) The show literally transformed Ozzy's life. He was already a legend in the world of rock, selling more than 100 million albums as the lead singer of Black Sabbath and as a hugely successful solo artist. But the Osbournes introduced him to a whole new audience, who had not been witness to his excesses in the 1970s and '80s. And his new found fame even saw him invited to perform for the Queen at her Golden Jubilee Pop Concert at Buckingham Palace. 'He glorified drugs, drink and Satan, so why has Ozzy Osbourne been asked to play for the Queen?', one shocked newspaper asked. Ozzy was inclined to agree – the invitation was one that astonished him as much as it delighted him. But like everything else in his life, it did nothing to change him. As he reflected at the time: 'There's always someone out there greater than me and if it all goes down the s**t-pan, then I can't complain. 'Everything comes to an end, sooner or later I suppose. But the truth is I don't want it to end. I mean, what the f**k does a lunatic do when he retires?' Sadly, Ozzy never got to find out; his death tragically coming just weeks after his final performance. But as Ozzy himself dryly remarked: 'Whatever else I do, my epitaph will be – Ozzy Osbourne born December 3, 1948. Died, whenever. And he bit the head off a bat.' Jeff Brazier beams as he reunites with son Freddie in sweet snap despite family feud

TV presenter Jeff Brazier has reunited with sons Freddie and Bobby amid a legal dispute and ongoing family tensions as Freddie continues to face his personal struggles Jeff Brazier has reunited with sons Bobby and Freddie for a rare family gathering, despite rising tensions behind the scenes. ‌ The 46-year-old TV presenter was joined by his two sons, whom he shared with the late Jade Goody, as well as other relatives, to celebrate his mother Janette's birthday. ‌ Posting a smiling family photo, Jeff wrote: "Lovely to have the full squad together yesterday to celebrate my Mum's birthday. Will always be in her debt for the help she has been over the years." ‌ The warm family moment is in stark contrast to the seemingly strained relationship between Jeff, 46, and Freddie, 20. Recent reports have revealed that Freddi is currently embroiled in a legal battle with his father, who has allegedly taken steps to block him from visiting his maternal grandmother, Jackiey Budden. Jeff is said to be concerned about her influence, with their ongoing disputes stretching back years following the tragic death of Jackiey's daughter Jade, who died after a battle with cervical cancer when she was just 27-years-old. ‌ Despite the turmoil, Jeff appeared on Loose Women on Tuesday share a rare update on his relationship with Freddie. Promoting his role in 101 Dalmatians: The Musical, he spoke about Freddie's interest in seeing him perform. "I was with both the lads yesterday and Freddie is showing more eagerness to come and watch," Jeff said. As for Bobby, the EastEnders actor, Jeff added: "He's been a bit casual about it… Bobby is going to come soon and no doubt there will be a critique that follows. He does trust me, I think he's always admired the fact that I chuck myself in. Whether that's a good idea or not, it soon follows doesn't it?" ‌ It comes as Freddie's year has been marked by several personal challenges which he has documented on his social media platforms. Earlier in 2025, he left the family home to live with his grandmother Jackiey. He later announced plans to enter rehab in Spain due to an addiction to 'smoking,' but ultimately decided against it. ‌ Most recently, he ended his relationship with girlfriend Holly Swimburn, shortly after the couple adopted an adorable dog together. A source told the Mail: "Things got very intense very quickly… but it has turned ugly pretty fast. There has been an almighty fall out and neither party believes they're in the wrong." ‌ Freddie also had a rough encounter at the airport in early July, where he reportedly missed a flight and got into a fight. 'Missed my flight, got punched and got a fine on the train,' he wrote online. 'What a s** day.'* Older brother Bobby later told The Sun: "Freddy will be OK… he's a good boy." He added, "He's very sensitive and wants to please. When he grows up a little bit, that will serve him well."
