Mets place RHP Tylor Megill (elbow) on 15-day injured list
June 17 - The New York Mets placed right-hander Tylor Megill on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday because of a right elbow sprain.
The move is retroactive to Sunday. In a corresponding move, the Mets recalled right-hander Justin Garza from Triple-A Syracuse.
Megill, 29, last pitched on Saturday, allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings of an 8-4 loss to the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Megill also hit two batters in his worst outing of the season.
He is 5-5 with a 3.95 ERA, 33 walks and 89 strikeouts in 68 1/3 innings over 14 starts this season.
Megill is a career 26-26 with a 4.46 ERA, 163 walks and 435 strikeouts in 409 2/3 innings in 88 games (81 starts) since the 2021 season.
The Mets selected Megill in the eighth round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of the University of Arizona.
Garza, 31, is 0-0 this season with no runs or walks allowed and two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings over three relief appearances for New York. The Mets purchased him on June 7 from the San Francisco Giants, for whom he pitched at Triple-A Sacramento earlier this season and went 1-2 with six saves and a 6.11 ERA in 17 2/3 innings over 19 relief appearances.
For his career, Garza is 2-3 with a 5.33 ERA, 30 walks and 48 strikeouts in 50 2/3 innings over 41 games (one start) for Cleveland (2021), Boston (2023) and New York.

PHILADELPHIA, June 17 (Reuters) - Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has suggested that Jack Grealish may need to consider leaving the club in the summer to secure more regular playing time, after the England international was omitted from the squad travelling to the United States for the revamped FIFA Club World Cup. The 29-year-old attacking midfielder, signed from Aston Villa for £100 million in 2021, started just seven Premier League matches during the 2024-25 campaign. Speaking ahead of City's Group G opener against Morocco's Wydad Casablanca, Guardiola admitted that Grealish's future remains uncertain. 'We had a conversation between him and the club and decided it was best for him not to travel to the Club World Cup,' Guardiola told reporters in Philadelphia on Tuesday. 'Jack is an exceptional player. The only reason he didn't play last season was, of course, my decisions. Now, we've decided he needs to play. The club was honest, and he was honest.' Guardiola emphasised Grealish's importance to the squad during City's treble-winning campaign in 2022-23, as well as his influence during his time at Aston Villa. However, he acknowledged that the past two seasons have seen the player struggle for consistency. 'He has incredible respect and love for the team,' Guardiola said. 'We decided it's best for him to stay in Manchester, find a place where he can feel like playing again, and rediscover the form he showed in the year of the treble or during his time at Villa. High school track star disqualified over controversial celebration reveals she is considering legal action
Clara Adams, the high school athlete disqualified for celebrating her 400m victory by spraying her shoes with a fire extinguisher, is considering drastic action after she was stripped of her gold medal. Adams, 16, copied the celebration first made famous by the American former 100m world record holder Maurice Greene when she crossed the line in first place at the California state high school track and field championships, which were held on May 30 and 31. Adams, a sophomore from North Salinas High School, claimed the CIF officials 'overreacted by grabbing me and yelling in my face.' 'As a dad, I still do not understand why the CIF officials berated my daughter, stripped her of her title, banned her from competing in the next race and ignored me when I attempted to get an explanation of what was going on,' her dad David added to PEOPLE 'As a father I was angry about how they physically grabbed and yelled at her. I am still at a loss as to why they treated her and that way. She's a kid and they treated her like an adult and gave her the maximum punishment without any warning or explanation.' The celebration was reminiscent of Greene, a four-time Olympic medalist and five-time world champion, who famously extinguished his own cleats after he won the 100-meter dash during the 2004 Home Depot Invitational. Adams claimed she and her dad didn't settle on the celebration until they arrived in Fresno for the meet and saw the old video of Greene. Adams, who said she was the 'underdog' heading into the event, and David insisted that they carried out the celebration away from her fellow competitors. Earlier this month, Greene himself weighed in on the controversy, claiming disqualification should be overturned if the celebration was performed away from her competitors.
