Station 19 Stars Divulge the #Marina Stories They Never Got to Tell

Yahoo27-03-2025

When Grey's Anatomy spinoff Station 19 aired its series finale six months ago, co-stars Danielle Savre and Stefania Spampinato were no readier to say goodbye to Maya and Carina than #Marina shippers were. (And we weren't ready at all.) 'There was so much more story to tell with [them],' Savre tells Entertainment Weekly.
Such as? The challenges Maya would have faced in raising a family at the same time as she's fighting fires. 'We knew when we did those flash-forwards that Maya carried one of their children,' Savre notes. So 'it would have been nice to see how she was able to be pregnant and still be a firefighter.

'That's something even real firefighters struggle with,' she adds, 'because how do you balance work and motherhood? I would have loved to have seen Maya [tackle] that.'
Spampinato goes back even further for storyline inspiration. 'Carina came into [Grey's Anatomy] with this study about female sexuality, and I would love to see her almost come full circle with that and teach sex education to younger adults,' she says. 'To still feel like [she's] contributing to society in a different way, geared to young adults since she now has kids.
'Also, they say relationships after seven years go through a little struggle,' she continues. 'I would have loved to see the seventh year of their relationship and see how they pulled through that.'

Country singer Conner Smith allegedly strikes and kills woman in crosswalk in car accident

Country singer Conner Smith was involved in a fatal car crash in Nashville in which he allegedly hit and killed a 77-year-old woman walking in a crosswalk. According to a news release from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, a pedestrian identified as Dorothy Dobbins died Sunday night after she was struck by a vehicle on 3rd Avenue North near Van Buren Street. "The preliminary investigation indicates that a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by Conner Smith, 24, was traveling north on 3rd Avenue North as Dobbins was crossing the roadway," the release said. "It appears that she was inside a marked crosswalk when she was struck around 7:30 p.m. Dobbins, who lived nearby, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died." Police said that Smith showed no signs of impairment at the time of the accident, and "the preliminary contributing factor for this crash appears to be Smith failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian." No charges have been filed "at present," authorities said, and the investigation is ongoing. An attorney for Smith, Worrick G. Robinson, confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that his client was "involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life" and added, "His heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins' family during this incredibly difficult time. Mr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation." Smith, a Nashville native, first rose to prominence with a viral TikTok hit titled "I Hate Alabama." The success of the song landed him a record deal with Big Machine Records' Valory label, under which he released the 2022 EP Didn't Go Too Far, which produced the singles "Learn From It" and "Take It Slow." Smith followed that up with his debut album, Smoky Mountains, last year. The lead single, "Creek Will Rise," became his first top-20 hit on the Country Airplay chart, and later made history when it became the first No. 1 on the new U.K. Country Airplay chart. More recently, Smith received an ACM nomination for New Male Artist of the Year and made his cinematic soundtrack debut with "Steal My Thunder (feat. Tucker Wetmore)," featured in Twisters. Smith has also toured with the likes of Thomas Rhett, Cole Swindell, Chase Rice, Luke Bryan, and Parker McCollum. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

Al Pacino turned down iconic ‘Star Wars' role because he was confused

Al Pacino revealed that he passed up on a role in George Lucas ' ' Star Wars ' because he couldn't make sense of the story. 'They handed me this script, and I thought, 'I don't understand,'' the 'Scarface' actor, who was offered the role of Han Solo in the 1977 box office hit, recalled during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. He added that it felt like he was reading a 'different language.' Pacino said that he then passed the script along to his friend and mentor, fellow actor Charlie Laughton, for a second opinion. 'He was pretty wise and he said, 'I don't get it, Al. I dunno. I don't get it.' I said, 'Well, I don't either; what are we going to do? They offered me a fortune, but I don't know. No, I can't play something if I don't speak the language.' 'I said, 'I think I'm in the mood to make Harrison Ford a career,'' Pacino quipped, referring to the actor who ended up famously taking on the iconic role in the science-fiction series once he turned it down. Lucky for him, while he skipped out on the chance to be part of Lucas' billion-dollar franchise, Pacino still had the opportunity to star in a number of highly-acclaimed films in the years that followed, from 'Devil's Advocate' (1997) and 'The Insider' (1999) to ' The Irishman ' (2019) and ' Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.' His latest project,' The Ritual,' hit theaters Friday, June 6. The horror film also stars Abigail Cowen ('Redeeming Love', 'Fate: The Winx Saga'); Dan Stevens ('Beauty and the Beast', ' Abigail ') and Ashley Greene ('Twilight,' 'It Feeds'). It turns out Pacino wasn't the only actor to turn down the role of the famous intergalactic pilot in the 1970s. 'Boogie Nights' actor Burt Reynolds, who died in 2018, revealed that was also offered the part but turned it down because he 'didn't want to play that kind of role at the time.' 'Now I regret it,' he told Business Insider in 2016. 'I wish I would have done it.' Others, such as Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell auditioned for the role but never progressed further in the casting process.

Jesse Williams' X account seemingly targeted by hackers

The former Grey's Anatomy star's X/Twitter account was seemingly infiltrated by an outsider who used the page to post inappropriate comments, involving celebrities such as Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Drake, Nina Dobrev and Demi Lovato. The messages, which were still on his account at press time, contained nudity and jokes about racism and paedophilia. During the posting spree, the apparent hacker wrote, "Diddy had cute butt cheeks (loved-up emoji)" and "I miss diddy", to imply that he was close with the rapper.
