We're just weeks away from the return of everyone's favourite dance competition, Strictly Come Dancing and fans are already eagerly counting down the days. The BBC have announced that their beloved ballroom dance competition will start with the annual pre-recorded launch show at Elstree Studios on September 27.
During the episode 15 celebrities will be paired up with their professional dance partners to be in with a chance of winning the prestigious glitter ball trophy. This year, fans of the show have something extra to look forward to as the BBC have treated audiences to an early Christmas present.
The Strictly Come Dancing live final is set to air on Saturday, December 20 - a mere five days before Christmas Day, what an early gift indeed for fans of the show. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter
This is later than the last three seasons which finished the week earlier, so fans can not only look forward to the lead up to the holidays but also to find out if their fave pair has won the competition.
Until then, viewers can tune in every weekend from the launch on BBC One or catch up on BBC iPlayer.
The week after the launch night, on September 27, the main series of Saturday live shows will kick off.
In line with tradition, the first live show won't see a celebrity and their dance partner leaving the contest, and the first pre-recorded Sunday results show will be broadcast on Sunday, 5 October.
The first results show will tally up each routine's points from weeks one and two, as determined by judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke, along with the viewers' votes. The duo with the fewest votes will bid farewell to Strictly Come Dancing.
The BBC has also confirmed that the show will make its much-anticipated return to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom on Saturday, 22 November, before heading back to Elstree on Saturday, 29 November.
The show recently unveiled the 15 celebrities who will be vying for the coveted Glitterball trophy.
This year's celebrity contestants for Strictly Come Dancing include a rugby player, a drag queen, a social media influencer and a Game of Thrones actor.

Also preparing to shine on the dance floor are YouTuber and podcaster George Clarke, 25, EastEnders' Balvinder Sopal, 46, trailblazing model Ellie Goldstein, 23 - the first model with Down Syndrome to grace the cover of British Vogue - and RuPaul's Drag Race UK star La Voix, 45.
Joining them will be retired England rugby player Chris Robshaw, 39, The Apprentice 2019 candidate Thomas Skinner, 34, former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison, 37, and Neighbours legend Stefan Dennis, 66.
Completing this year's cast are Lorraine and Good Morning Britain's Los Angeles Correspondent Ross King, 63, former England women's football player Karen Carney, 38.
Unfortunately, Game of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn, 49 has had to withdrawn from the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, for medical reasons.
He said: "With a heavy heart, I have to step back from this season of Strictly Come Dancing due to unexpected medical reasons. I was truly looking forward to the journey, and I'm deeply sorry to disappoint anyone who was looking forward to seeing me on the dance floor. Thank you all for your support, and I will be back on my feet very soon, in every sense. Love to all, Kristian."
A new celebrity will be joining Strictly Come Dancing in Kristian's place. This will be announced tonight, August 21 on The One Show, on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 7pm.

Gangs of London's Lucian Msamati teases new Netflix show Hostage with Suranne Jones
Reach Screen Time spoke exclusively to Lucian Msamati about working with Suranne Jones One of the leading actors from Netflix 's new adrenaline-fuelled political thriller Hostage, has given us a sneak peek behind the scenes, following lead actress Suranne Jones' unexpected revelation, reports the Manchester Evening News. In an exclusive chinwag with Reach Screen Time, Lucian Msamati, known for his roles in Gangs of London and Game of Thrones, spilled the beans about the twist-filled series and his experience working alongside the Gentleman Jack star. Msamati, 49, shared: "I think there was great spark. Suranne and I just got on like a house on fire and we sort of became work husband and wife, which is really at the centre of both of their jobs. "They're both hard-headed, they're both very good at what they do and they both care." He hinted: "I think the scenes, without giving too much away, there are later scenes to come which were tough in good way. But that's the juice that we're after." Hostage is a five-part Netflix series and marks Coronation Street and Vigil actress Jones' first venture with the streaming behemoth. The star collaborated closely with creator and Oscar-nominated writer Matt Charman, who penned the script for Hollywood film Bridge of Spies, on the story. She also wore the hat of a producer on the TV series. Msamati portrays prime ministerial aide Kofi Adomako, who is tasked with advising Jones' British premier Abigail Dalton after her husband is kidnapped and her resignation is demanded as the ransom for his release. The distinguished British-Tanzanian actor revealed he was attracted to the project by Charman, and disclosed how the playwright rang him about the role which was penned specifically with the star in mind. Looking back on his preparation for the character of Adomako, the actor explained: "I think I've had the benefit of playing lots of conciliatory types, lots of right-hand, king of the hand type characters. This is watching people who are immediately behind the throne. "There were some really interesting books, the calculation that has to happen. A person whose job it is to anticipate, the person whose job it is to go, 'What are the possible outcomes here? Can I get ahead of this?' Just being, you know, ultimately loyal, ultimately responsible." He continued: "And he sort of, for myself, this guys's been there, he's done that, several governments, he knows his stuff. We don't know his political allegiance but we know he's first duty is to the office of the prime minister." Msamati is currently occupied with numerous other ventures and according to IMDb, he will be featuring in the mini-series Run Away. The star also revealed: "There are a few interesting theatrical projects bubbling and brewing and there may or may not be another well-known television series that may or may not be coming out later this year that I may or may not be a part of. You'll just have to wait and see." The interview coincides with Sky's confirmation of a fourth season for Gangs of London. However, considering the recent plot developments, it seems improbable that Msamati will make a comeback.

BBC shares major update on Doctor Who future amid hiatus
Doctor Who will return with or without the extra funding from Disney, the BBC has now confirmed whilst the series is on hiatus following the departure of Ncuti Gatwa Doctor Who will return with or without the extra funding from Disney, BBC bosses confirmed yesterday. The sci-fi show is currently on a hiatus following the end of the two-year deal with Disney, which culminated with the departure of Ncuti Gatwa in the title role. Crushing rumours that the show would not return if Disney's huge cash injection did not return, the BBC's new head of content Kate Phillips said: "Rest assured Doctor Who is going nowhere. Disney has been a great partnership and it continues with The War Between The Land And The Sea next year." Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival Kate, who is just two months into her job, stressed: 'With or without Disney, Doctor Who will still be on the BBC." The uncertainty around the series has been caused by Disney's continuing reluctance to commit to either renewing its funding deal with the BBC - or pull out. But show creator Russell T Davies has indicated he's already working on scripts for the next series, and also for another one after that. Later in the session, the BBC's drama controller Lindsay Salt said she had 'no update' in terms of timings " on Doctor Who but said that information would be made public as soon as it was possible. Agreeing with Kate, she said the BBC commitment to Doctor Who as one of its biggest brands was water-tight, adding that the show was "hugely important to us"." Now Doctor Who fans have the spin-off show, The War Between the Land and the Sea, which expected to start around Christmas. Disney reportedly injected around £100million into Doctor Who, which gave a a significant boost to the show's production budget, allowing for CGI use of dinosaurs and other stunts. There is still a chance that the deal will be renewed, or that BBC Studios will find another partner to join forces with. In the session about the BBC, Kate also said the corporation 'acted fast' after misconduct allegations against former MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace. And she urged anyone who felt they had grievances to air against top talent to come forward, stressing that they would be taken seriously. 'No one is irreplaceable,' she said. On MasterChef, she said she'd acted on the information she'd had in 2019. 'So there were two complaints. I dealt with them. I acted on them fast. I think I acted responsibly. I left him in no doubt of the expected behaviour that we expect at the BBC, if you like. I stand by the actions I took at the time with the knowledge that I had. Other allegations didn't come to us until much later, sort of at the end of 2023, and at that point we did act, and we acted fast.' Wallace was dropped from the series after multiple claims of inappropriate language and behaviour against him were upheld. Later his co-host John Torode was also dismissed after a complaint over his 'racist language' was upheld.
