Aamir Khan Vs Faisal Khan Feud: What Really Happened Between Two Brothers
Now that the situation between the Khan family is once again in the spotlight, many are curious to know how the rift between Aamir and Faisal Khan began.
Faisal Khan is once again making headlines over his dispute with brother Aamir Khan and other family members. The conflict has been going on for years through various accusations and emotional statements. Until now, the Dangal star has stayed silent about the matter. But things took a serious turn when Faisal recently alleged that his family kept him confined in Aamir's house for a year and gave him medicines against his will.
This led the family to issue an official statement. Now that the situation is once again in the spotlight, many are curious to know how the rift between the Khan brothers began and what really happened behind closed doors.
Feud Between Faisal and Aamir Khan
Faisal began his journey in films as a child actor in Pyar Ka Mausam and later appeared in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak alongside Aamir Khan. The brothers finally shared the screen as leads in the 2000 film Mela, but after the movie failed at the box office, their relationship turned upside down. In 2021, during a conversation on Ronak Kotecha's YouTube channel, Faisal recalled a private exchange with Aamir after the film's release. He said that Aamir told him he was not a good actor and should try doing something else in life. According to Faisal, this was Aamir's explanation for why Mela didn't work and why he felt his brother should rethink his career.
Legal Battle and Mental Illness Allegations
Faisal Khan spoke about his legal dispute with his family, which took place between 2007 and 2008. In an interview with Hindustan Times after the court's verdict, he alleged that his family had spread false rumours about him having a mental illness. He said he was never unwell and claimed that these stories were spread by his brother Aamir Khan and other relatives. Faisal also alleged that he was kidnapped, kept under house arrest and given medicines. He added that when the court announced its decision, the judge declared him mentally fit, capable of managing his own life and deserving to be treated like any other person.
In a most recent Pinkvilla interview, Faisal yet again spoke about the matter and said, 'They locked me up in Aamir's house for a year, giving me medicines against my will and all of that. They were saying I had schizophrenia, that I was mentally unstable, and I could harm society. They kept calling it paranoid schizophrenia. All this was being used to create a negative atmosphere around me. I kept wondering how I could get out of this trap, because it had become a complete web for me."
'I felt stuck, as my entire family was against me, thinking I was mentally ill. For whatever reasons, they genuinely believed I was crazy. That's why I distanced myself from them. They kept me locked up, gave me medicines. I was confined to a room—Aamir locked me in his house for a year, took my phone, took everything. I wasn't allowed out, there was a bodyguard outside my room giving me medicines," he added.
According to FirstPost, after Faisal's latest claim, the Khan family issued a statement and showed their concern. They said they were upset by Faisal's misleading portrayal of his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and his brother Aamir Khan. The family added that this was not the first time he had misrepresented these events and they felt the need to clarify their intentions.
Despite the feud, Faisal Khan, in 2024, attended the wedding reception of Aamir Khan's daughter Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare, held at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai. On the red carpet, he was spotted posing alongside Aamir's eldest son, Junaid Khan.
After staying away from the big screen for years, Faisal Khan made his directorial debut and starred in the 2021 film Faactory.

Saiyaara would have 'flopped' if Shah Rukh Khan was in it, actor Varun Badola says superstar is 'too big for the film'
Actor Varun Badola, who was recently seen in the new release, Saiyaara, has been grabbing headlines for his views on the film's success these days. Badola has now opened up about the Star VS Content debate and whether movies no longer require big stars. Varun Badola discusses whether Saiyaara's success means star power is not essential In a new interview with Nayandeep Rakshit for his YouTube channel, Varun Badola pushed back against the idea that the success of Saiyaara proves that films no longer need big stars. The actor argued that the scale of a project dictates the star power required. Badola then stressed the importance of big stars by comparing Shah Rukh Khan 's superstardom to newcomer Ahaan Panday. The 51-year-old actor dismissed the notion of people believing that Saiyaara has proved that the audience doesn't need stars anymore. Varun Badola compares Shah Rukh Khan and Ahaan Panday for a film's success mantra 'Abhi tum Ahaan Panday ko utha ke Jawan mein daalo, Jawan flop ho jayegi. Shah Rukh ko Saiyaara mein daal do, Saiyaara flop ho jayegi ("If you put Ahaan Panday in Jawan, Jawan will flop. Put Shah Rukh [Khan] in Saiyaara, it will flop,)' he shared. The Sky Force actor further explained that Shah Rukh Khan will become 'too big' for Saiyaara, considering his stardom. Speaking about Ahaan, Badola added that the young actor will not have the personality to run a big spectacle like Jawan. Which role did Varun Badola play in Saiyaara? Saiyaara starred Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda as the main leads. While Ahaan played the role of a musician, Krish Kapoor, Aneet was cast as Vaani Batra, a writer. Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara also featured actors like Rajesh Kumar, Shaad Randhawa, and Neil Bhoopalam. Actor Varun Badola was cast as Krish Kapoor's father, Ashok Kapoor. He is also a part of the new release, War 2. While the traditional model of a superstar guaranteeing a film's success has been severely challenged, star power has not completely vanished. Instead, it has evolved into a more complex dynamic where content is now a critical co-factor.
