'It's R10 for Kaizer Chiefs, R8 for others': Amakhosi legend on transfer bias

Kaizer Chiefs legend Reneilwe Letsholonanye claims PSL clubs are overpricing their players when Amakhosi shows interest.
In the past few years, the Soweto giants have shown interest in the likes of Fawaaz Basadien and Oswin Appollis, but failed to meet the asking price of the players.
Letsholonyane feel whenever Amakhosi approach clubs for players, they don't get a fair deal.
'I feel like anyone who would give you R800 (for example), you should be fair enough to release a player, right? But it cannot work that when it's Chiefs who want a certain player, it's R10, but when it's other people, it's R8; that's not doing business ethically,' Letsholonyane told Omniaudioafrica YouTube Channel .
'It's either two things: they know Chiefs won't pay that amount of money, or they won't pay because you're overpricing a player. Two, really, really, that team doesn't want to sell the player to Chiefs,' he added.
'So what do you do as Kaizer Chiefs if people are overpricing players? Personally, I would not force things myself, to be honest, if there are different prices for the same player. I'd rather go to teams who put the same price or players I can afford, and we'll build from there,' Letsholonyane said.
Kaizer Chiefs have signed six players ahead of the new season but none of them a big names. It remains to be seen if the Glamour Boys can improve following a poor 2024/25 camapign.

Springbok steps away from rugby due to health concerns

Springbok Women flanker and Bulls Daisies captain Lusanda Dumke is stepping away from rugby due to health concerns. The 28-year-old loose forward, who earned 33 Test caps and captained the Springbok Women on three occasions, led the Isuzu Bulls Daisies to their third consecutive Women's Premier Division title in 2025. Springbok Women performance coach Swys de Bruin acknowledged Dumke's importance to the national setup and expressed full support for her decision. 'Lusanda has been pivotal for us, but we now wish her the best as she battles her medical condition,' said De Bruin. 'Her absence will have an impact, but at the same time, the players going to the Rugby World Cup will know that playing for your country while you are fit and strong is indeed a privilege.' Dumke is a previous winner of the SA Rugby Women's Player of the Year award, and her leadership and resilience left a lasting mark on both the Bok Women and the Isuzu Bulls Daisies. Thando Manana, executive for women's rugby and strategic projects at the Blue Bulls Company, said: 'Lusanda has been more than just a captain, she's been the heartbeat of the Isuzu Bulls Daisies. Her leadership, humility, and relentless drive have shaped the culture of this team. 'While we respect her decision to step away for health reasons, her legacy will continue to inspire every player who wears this jersey. We stand firmly behind her and wish her strength and healing in the journey ahead.' Dumke has requested that her privacy be respected in this matter and no further comment will be made. Orlando Pirates v Sekhukhune: Date, kickoff time in season opener

Orlando Pirates hope to get a glorious title charge underway against Sekhukhune in what should be a high-quality season-opener. Pirates are hoping to dethrone perennial champions Sundowns, whom they meet in the MTN8 final four. The Sea Robbers kick things off against another MTN8 semi-finalist, Sekhukhune. 'Nkota is already a better player after leaving Pirates' TWO more players leave the club Orlando Stadium is the venue as Pirates and Sekhukhune do battle on Saturday, 9 August at 17:30. The Sea Robbers have a new skipper too. 29-year-old Nkosinathi Sibisi will wear the captain's armband at Pirates in 2025-2026. He was a key figure last season alongside breakout star Mbekezeli Mbokazi in the heart of defence after Thabiso Sesane was struck down with a long-term injury. What happens when Sesane returns will be fascinating, as he might even dislodge the new captain. That's a nice problem for new boss Ouaddao to have, though. Sibisi made 42 appearances last season across all competitions, including 25 in the league. Saleng paints a grim picture of his Orlando Pirates future Sibisi, Sesane and Maswanganyi ponder things at a set piece. Chiefs have also made a number of new signings in Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Flavio Silva, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako and Siphesihle Ndlovu. This could be an important step for Chiefs if they seriously want to compete with their Soweto Derby rivals Orlando Pirates and the reigning Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns. Former Chiefs forward Justice Sithole said: 'You need to have quality players who understand the team if you really want to compete for major trophies. 'I think that at the moment, after the Nedbank Cup final, Chiefs can take it from there and move forward.' It's also Nasreddine Nabi's second season in charge as Chiefs coach, and now that he has settled into the role and clearly has the backing of the club, he has all the ingredients he needs to 'start cooking'. @Michael_Sherman IOL Sport
