Grantchester fans 'speechless' as they spot huge clue James Norton will return

James Norton has been spotted on the set of Grantchester, sparking speculation he is set to reprise his role as Sidney Chambers for the show's final series Grantchester fans may have said goodbye to Sidney Chambers six years ago, but there's a chance that star James Norton could return to the ITV drama for its final series. Fans have gone wild on social media after spotting a huge clue that the 40-year-old will reprise his iconic role as the detective drama comes to an end. ‌ The TV star was spotted on the crime drama's set last week, with filming taking place in Cambridge. In photos obtained by the Daily Star, James was seen having a chinwag with show favourite Rishi Nair, who portrays Reverend Alpheus "Alphy" Kotteram. ‌ James' presence on set has ignited rumours that he is reprising his role as vicar Sidney Chambers for the programme's final series. It's been six years since he left to concentrate on other ventures and fans have been eagerly awaiting his return. It comes after Grantchester axed after 11 years as ITV drama films emotional final series. ‌ The Hollywood actor was donning a pink baseball cap and a green shirt as he reunited with his former co-stars. He also embraced Al Weaver, who has portrayed Leonard Finch in the series. A telly insider told the publication: "It looks like James will be involved in the last series of Grantchester. If he's reprising his role, it will go down a storm with fans." "James is now one of the biggest stars on TV so having him back on the show would be a big draw for viewers. Ratings would go through the roof." ‌ Fans quickly took to social media to celebrate James' appearance on set, with one writing: "James in grantchester im speechless." Another said: "James norton stuns as sidney chambers is resurrected and returns to grantchester." A third was hoping that he would appear alongside current star Rishi Naur on screen, writing: "HOT PRIESTS (PLURAL)." Another replied: "Both of them on screen together pls." Grantchester is wrapping up with its 11th series despite being a ratings hit for ITV. Fans were gutted when the news was announced last month. ‌ Actor Robson Green, who has portrayed DI Geordie Keating since the programme launched in 2014, offered a touching farewell to his fellow cast members. He revealed: "I have had the incredible fortune to be part of this extraordinary team of talented, passionate, and dedicated individuals who have become more than colleagues. They have become family. ‌ "I have made friendships forged through shared laughter, challenges, and triumphs. The bonds we've formed extend far beyond the camera lens, and I know that they will endure long after the final scene within the Grantchester world has been filmed." Green expressed that it had "been an honour to share in the magic of Grantchester" and that he remained "forever grateful for the memories, the friendships, and the love". He added: "Emma Kingsman Lloyd [executive producer] and Daisy Coulam [writer and series creator], from that very first day you gave me the extraordinary opportunity to be part of this experience." ‌ Nair commented: "It's been the greatest honour to step into the world of Grantchester and be part of a show with so much heart." Robson will return for the concluding series alongside fellow performers including Tessa Peake-Jones and Kacey Ainsworth. ITV's director of drama Polly Hill and drama commissioner Callum Dziedzic stated: "It's rare to create a series with such enduring warmth, wit, and heart, as Daisy, Emma, and the brilliant team have done with Grantchester. "This final series marks the end of a golden chapter for ITV drama, and we know audiences will treasure this last summer in Grantchester as much as we will."

Sheridan Smith in floods of tears while filming new ITV drama after painful family death

Sheridan Smith has been left with raw emotions after filming her new ITV drama I Fought The Law following the death of her brother Sheridan Smith was left emotionally shattered whilst filming her latest drama I Fought The Law. ‌ The BAFTA-winning star portrays campaigner Ann Ming, whose daughter Julie was brutally killed in 1989. The role brought back painful memories of her brother's heartbreaking death from cancer when she was merely eight years old. ‌ She revealed: "This is the first real life story I've taken on since becoming a mum and there are different things I tap into now being a mother myself, especially with what Ann went through." It comes after a Midsomer Murders star was revealed as Sheridan's replacement in a 'gripping' thriller. ‌ "I've played parents that lose their kids before, and having lost my older brother, I would always think about what my mum must have gone through. While playing Ann, those feelings were much more raw to tap into." The programme follows Ann's battle to overturn an 800 year old double jeopardy law in her quest for justice for her daughter. Taking on such a weighty subject matter took a devastating toll on Sheridan, reports the Daily Star. She continued: "Whenever I play a real person, I really want to feel how they felt. I didn't go to drama school and I haven't been trained as an actor, so I don't really know how to turn those feelings on and off. "I just really try to go there emotionally. Ann was obviously in a state of angst from the minute Julie went missing, because she had that mother's instinct, she just knew. ‌ "And she fought and fought for justice. So she was in a state of anxiety for years, and I really tried to go there." Shooting I Fought The Law has proved the most challenging role Sheridan has ever undertaken. Yet she's not grumbling because her struggles pale in comparison to what Ann experienced. She explained: "I love playing real people because this job is all about people's hearts and getting their stories out there, so if it causes me a few months of distress, that's nothing. ‌ "It's just important for me to do Ann justice. Playing her has hit me more than any other role. "There were some really intense days on this job, but the emotion was a fraction of what it must have felt like for Ann, so you just get on with it." The programme will broadcast this autumn on ITV1.
