Which player on the Boston Celtics is best at playing football?
Which player on the Boston Celtics is best at playing football (that is not named Baylor Scheierman, that is)? Scheierman recently spilled the tea on which of his fellow Celtics teammates are the best at playing the sport he played in high school before becoming a top basketball prospect who would end up in Boston by way of Creighton.
The former Celtics rookie sat down with the hosts of the CLNS Media "Garden Report" podcast, Bobby Manning, Noa Dalzell, and John Zannis, for a wide-ranging exclusive interview this week, and they got into the level of football competence as a topic of conversation with Scheierman.
Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about who can throw down on the gridiron and more.

How the Boston Celtics can benefit from Jaylen Brown's early surgery
How the Boston Celtics can benefit from Jaylen Brown's early surgery On Wednesday, June 11, the Boston Celtics reported that Jaylen Brown had undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee via a press release. The Boston Celtics All-Star was reportedly dealing with a partially torn meniscus. Fortunately, the release noted that Brown should be fully recovered in time for the team's preseason training camp later this year. Brown's availability is undoubtedly a critical issue for the Celtics. With Jayson Tatum ruled out of the rotation due to an Achilles tendon tear, Brown will likely assume a leading role for the franchise. As such, his decision to undergo surgery so early in the summer is encouraging, as it could allow him to be at his best throughout the 2025-26 campaign. During a recent episode of the "Taylor Talks Celtics" podcast, hosts Adam Taylor and Billy Calabrese discussed Brown's potential role next season and why surgery could propel him to an All-NBA-level season. The duo also explored the changes he could see in his role and why his point-of-attack defense will be a key factor in the team's chances of success. Shams Charania provides update on Boston Celtics' trade rumors
Shams Charania provides update on Boston Celtics' trade rumors As the NBA offseason draws closer, rumors surrounding the Boston Celtics are starting to heat up. Brad Stevens is expected to make changes to the current roster, primarily due to the approximately $500 million payroll the team is facing for next season once luxury taxes are factored into the equation. During a recent appearance on ESPN's "The Pat McAfee" show, NBA reporter Shams Charania provided an update on the current situation with the Celtics. Charania noted that Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis and Sam Hauser are the most likely to be traded. However, he also admitted that Boston could be open to moving on from Derrick White and Jaylen Brown, should they receive a strong enough offer. 'The primary focus, from my understanding, with the Celtics offseason is Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Sam Hauser, and they're trade markets,' Charania said. 'Now, are teams making big offers and calling about Jaylen Brown and Derrick White? 100%. The Celtics prefer not to trade them, from my understanding. But, listen, if they get a big offer, they have to look at everything. And I think they're going to get offers on the three guys that they're focused on, they're going to get offers potentially on Derrick White and Jaylen Brown, and I think between now and the draft and free agency, they're going to evaluate what makes sense from a value perspective and that's where they're going to move.' A significant catalyst for the potential changes heading toward the Celtics roster was Jayson Tatum's Achilles tendon tear. Boston is unlikely to pay such a hefty price for a team that isn't expected to contend for a championship next season. As such, Stevens could use the next 12-18 months as a way to re-tool the roster around Tatum while also getting younger and building for a sustainable contention window. Holiday, Porzingis and Hauser will all have legitimate trade markets this summer. However, we won't know how deep the roster changes are going to go until after the NBA draft. However, if Brown or White are moved in the coming months, the Celtics will likely be incredibly active in the trade market, both this summer and next. The Boston Celtics could look to trade up in the 2025 NBA Draft
The Boston Celtics could look to trade up in the 2025 NBA Draft The Boston Celtics hold the 28th and 32nd picks in the 2025 NBA Draft. Brad Stevens and the front office have already begun holding pre-draft workouts with players that could potentially fall within that range. Since taking the President of Basketball Operations role, Stevens has leaned toward long-tenured collegiate players, as they're often more polished and capable of contributing at the NBA level. Given the Celtics' precarious cap space situation and the potential for multiple roster changes this summer, the upcoming draft could be an important one for Boston. While not a usual Celtics source, Grant Afseth of RG has reported that Boston is exploring moving up in the draft, as they look for a long-term solution at the point guard position. "The Boston Celtics are quietly conducting due diligence on point guard prospects and evaluating trade-up scenarios ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft, league sources told RG," Afseth reported on June 11. "Boston's interest in the position comes as veteran guard Jrue Holiday remains the subject of trade interest around the league. The Celtics have not shut down trade talks centered around Holiday as the team prepares to potentially reconfigure its long-term cap table. The possibility of adding a point guard prospect to begin developing should not be overlooked." It remains to be seen what type of guard the Celtics could be interested in. Trying to replace Jrue Holiday is a tall order. The veteran guard is a genuine three-level scorer and one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. However, if the opportunity to add a high-potential guard to the rotation becomes available, the Celtics would be wise to explore it. Should the Celtics acquire another guard via the draft, it will be interesting to see how that impacts JD Davison, who finally got his first full-time NBA contract late last season. The 2025 G League MVP could quickly find himself glued to the bench if Joe Mazzulla is given a remit to develop a draft talent ahead of Jayson Tatum's return in 2026. The Celtics are expected to make multiple roster moves in the coming months. The rotation will likely look very different by the start of the new season. If that means there's a new rookie to cheer for, the fanbase will likely get behind their development. For now, though, all eyes will be on what happens in the trade market, along with what could happen on draft night. Watch the "Taylor Talks Celtics" podcast on: YouTube: Website:
