Which player on the Boston Celtics is best at playing football?
Which player on the Boston Celtics is best at playing football (that is not named Baylor Scheierman, that is)? Scheierman recently spilled the tea on which of his fellow Celtics teammates are the best at playing the sport he played in high school before becoming a top basketball prospect who would end up in Boston by way of Creighton.
The former Celtics rookie sat down with the hosts of the CLNS Media "Garden Report" podcast, Bobby Manning, Noa Dalzell, and John Zannis, for a wide-ranging exclusive interview this week, and they got into the level of football competence as a topic of conversation with Scheierman.
Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about who can throw down on the gridiron and more.

Report: Boston Celtics approaching offseason trades from position of strength, patience
Report: Boston Celtics approaching offseason trades from position of strength, patience The Boston Celtics are widely seen by NBA analysts as one of the teams most likely to make aggressive moves to trim salary this offseason. Early reports hinted that opposing ball clubs expected it to cost them assets to get off the significant contracts of the players most often cited as likely to be moved -- namely vet guard Jrue Holiday and Latvian big man Kristaps Porzingis. But recent rumbles from reputable sources have hinted that might not be the case, and new reporting from The Stein Line's Jake Fischer has underscored that this belief has "begun to fade," with Boston "said to be conducting their mid-June business with confidence that they can make deals that bring positive value back". Per Fischer, the Celtics aren't "operating to date like a team desperate to shed salary," hinting at plans for several trades over time between now and the 2026 NBA trade deadline. Instead, something like dealing away Porzingis and then making more moves midseason might be the model, per The Stein Line reporter, with the Celtics "believed to be open to listening to any player on its roster not named Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown." He also speculates Payton Pritchard and Derrick White are nearly in that category as well. With Pritchard seen as likely to carry a major part of Boston's offense next season and White "so essential to Boston on both sides of the floor that it sounds as though the Celtics would need their version of the offer that blew away Brooklyn and forced the Nets to part with Mikal Bridges to entertain surrendering him," we are starting to get a firmer outline of what the team's plans to get cheaper will look like. The question now starts to shift to which clubs are they trying to work with to accomplish them -- and whether they will be able to pull it off.

Magic Johnson has advice for Tyrese Haliburton: Do what I did vs. Celtics in NBA Finals
Following the Indiana Pacers' Game 3 win in the NBA Finals over Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night, Tyrese Haliburton responded to his critics after dropping 22 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds. "I think the commentary is always going to be what it is, you know?" Haliburton said. "Most of the time, the talking heads on the major platforms, I couldn't care less. Honestly, like what do they really know about basketball?" One person who knows quite a bit about basketball is Magic Johnson. The five-time NBA champion and three-time NBA Finals MVP has been supportive of Haliburton during these playoffs and credits his pace for pushing Indiana into the Finals and two games away from a first NBA championship. Johnson joined ESPN's "Get Up" on Thursday morning to talk about the Pacers and was asked specifically what Haliburton had to do to get Indiana across the finish line. "OKC has more talent than Indiana at the end of the day. But the way they're going to win is they have to play fast, (Haliburton) has to score more in this series," Johnson said. "He has to get 20-25 points every single game in order for the Pacers to win because they follow his lead, right? And so him and (Pascal) Siakam has to get at least 20 points to put the Pacers in a situation that they can win the game. That unlocks all the other guys. And so when they both came out aggressive, Siakam had a big first quarter. Haliburton had a big second quarter, that unlocked everybody else now to be comfortable enough to score and take their shots to help the Pacers win. "So he has to set the tempo, not just with his pace and also his assists, but also his scoring. I had to do that against the Celtics. I could cruise in the other series, but not against the Celtics. I must score against the Celtics, while I still had to get 15-20 assists, and this is important for him: He has to do the same thing, set the table for the guys and score points against OKC." In the 1985 NBA Finals, Johnson averaged 18.3 points and 14 assists as the Lakers won in six games. And in the 1987 NBA Finals, Johnson averaged 26.2 points and 13 assists in the Lakers' six-game series win. This season, the Pacers are 20-1 when Haliburton scores at least 20 points and dishes out at least 10 assists. This series, Haliburton is averaging 17.7 points, 7.7 assists and 7.3 rebounds a game.

Boston Celtics jersey history No. 20 - Mo Wagner (2021)
Boston Celtics jersey history No. 20 - Mo Wagner (2021) The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover. And for today's article, we will continue with the 30th of 31 people to wear the No. 20 jersey, Boston big man alum Moritz Wagner. After ending his college career at Michigan, Wagner was picked up with the 25th overall selection of the 2018NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. The Berlin, Germany native would play the first season of his pro career with the Lakers. He would also play for the Washington Wizards before he was dealt to Boston in 2021. His stay with the team would span just nine games before he would be cut by the team. During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Wagner wore only jersey No. 20 and put up 1.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.
