Jagga Reddy asks KTR to explain purpose of secret meeting with AP IT minister Nara Lokesh
'Was the meeting held at the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or not?' he asked at a press conference held in Hyderabad, further demanding that KTR should explain to the people the purpose of such a secret meeting. 'Is there any conspiracy and are you part of it?' he asked.
Responding to BRS leaders' taunts on why Mr. Revanth Reddy doesn't chant 'Jai Telangana,' Mr Jagga Reddy sought to know why the BRS had taken out the Telangana word from its party's name. 'Is it not the BRS that has insulted Telangana?' he asked, appealing them to introspect before criticising others.
Mr. Jagga Reddy also ridiculed the BRS narrative that Mr. Revanth Reddy was a disciple of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. 'Before Mr. Revanth Reddy even entered the Assembly, KCR was a three-time MLA, Minister, and Deputy Speaker in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) under Mr. Naidu. Should we not talk about that history?' he asked.
Mr. Jagga Reddy claimed that KCR was afraid to face Mr. Revanth Reddy, and that is why he was deliberately skipping the Assembly sessions. 'After being in power for 10 years, questions will be asked, and KCR doesn't have those answers for destroying Telangana.'
Taking a dig at senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao, the former MLA called him a 'great actor' and accused him of making baseless allegations against Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who is known for his integrity, and has served in the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot. Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy would not run away from challenges and he is used to face them bravely.

Cong demands compensation for farmers affected by heavy rains in Gwalior-chambal
Bhopal: The Congress state unit on Tuesday demanded compensation for farmers who have faced crop damage due to excessive rains. Party media department president Mukesh Nayak expressed deep concern over the heavy devastation caused by continuous and excessive rains in Dabra, Bhind, Shivpuri, Karera, and Datia districts of Gwalior-Chambal division. Nayak said heavy rains have caused extensive damage to crops in more than 200 villages of these five districts including Sevdha, Bhander, and Datia development blocks. Oilseeds and pulses have been destroyed at many places. Due to this, farmers already burdened with debt are in a serious financial crisis, Mukesh Nayak argued. "Additionally, hundreds of houses have collapsed or been damaged in urban and rural areas, but no concrete steps have been taken by the state govt and administration," he alleged. Former minister Mukesh Nayak asked, "When the devastation in the villages is clearly visible, why have the revenue department teams not been sent for survey till now? Why has there been no official damage survey?" He demanded that the administration should immediately send revenue teams to the affected villages and provide compensation to the farmers and affected families as per the Revenue Book Circular (RBC) guidelines. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo The state Congress media cell chief further said, "The BJP govt is limited to announcements only. The farmers on whose strength the country runs are on the verge of devastation today and the govt is a mute spectator." Congress demanded a transparent survey conducted immediately by revenue teams to all the affected villages. "The families whose houses have been destroyed should be provided rehabilitation and relief camp facilities. The affected farmers should be provided loan waiver and assistance for the next crop," Nayak said.

ITAT rejects Congress appeal against tax demand of Rs 199 cr
The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) Monday dismissed an appeal filed by Congress challenging a tax demand of ₹199.15 crore for assessment year 2018-19. The tribunal rejected the party's claim for tax exemption under Section 13A due to late return filing and violations of cash donation limits, establishing strict compliance requirements for political parties seeking tax benefits. "All these assessee's (Congress) vehement submissions fail to evoke our concurrence," ruled the quorum of judicial member Satbeer Singh Godara and accountant member M Balaganesh. Referring to a leading Supreme Court judgment and a March 2016 high court ruling, the tribunal in its July 21 ruling held that an exemption mentioned in a tax statute must be "strictly complied with". The 50 page ITAT order referring to the two rulings (SC and HC) said "this is for the precise reason that so far as an interpretation of such an exemption provision in a fiscal statute is concerned", not only the high court has made it clear "that Section 13A has to be strictly complied with" but also the Supreme Court in a 2018 ruling "has settled the issue that it is not liberal but stricter interpretation only in a taxing statute which has to be employed in an exemption claim". Live Events Dismissing Congress's appeal, the tribunal held "that being the case and in light of the fact that even Section 139(4B) has stipulated filing of return within the 'due' date i.e. required to be furnished u/s 139(1), we are of the considered view that the above former clause in fact restricts any further liberalism herein as clearly incorporating the expression of 'due' date". "Therefore, the moment there is violation of such a 'due' date, Section 13A third proviso gets attracted, so as to result in denial of exemption to the party concerned," the order said.
