PFF: Seahawks have top-5 backfield in NFL

USA Today6 hours ago

The Seattle Seahawks struggled to run the football last season. The ground game finished 28th in the league, averaging 95.7 yards per contest. It wasn't due to a lack of talent in the backfield, with both Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet being effective in doses.
Poor offensive line play and inexperienced play-calling didn't help the Seahawks establish the run. An injury to Walker also left the backfield occasionally shorthanded. New offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is hoping to implement a ground-and-pound approach.
Pro Football Focus recently ranked every running back room in the NFL. Somewhat surprisingly given last season's results, the Seahawks' backfield placed fifth.
"Seattle quietly possesses one of the NFL's deepest running back rooms," Dalton Wasserman wrote. "That unit includes Kenneth Walker III, Zach Charbonnet, Kenny McIntosh and seventh-round rookie Damien Martinez. Walker tied for fourth in the NFL with a 91.3 PFF rushing grade last season, though he appeared in only 11 games. Charbonnet also placed among the top 20 with his 78.8 PFF rushing grade. Martinez could be an interesting addition to the unit after ranking third in the FBS with a 94.4 PFF rushing grade at Miami last season."
Adding Damien Martinez to the room improved the overall standing. The Seahawks also have terrific depth, with Kenny McIntosh giving the Seahawks four NFL-caliber options. The Seahawks desperately need to improve their rushing attack in 2025.

Free agent OT Jesse Davis officially retires

Offensive tackle Jesse Davis, who last played in the NFL in 2023, called it a career Monday. 'After 10 years, I'm officially retiring from the NFL,' Davis wrote in an Instagram post. 'Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, fans, and most importantly, my family. Without you guys, I wouldn't have made it this far. Thank you to all the organizations that gave me the opportunity to play the game I love. I've had an incredible ride that I'll never forget. Now it's time to be a full-time dad and figure out my next chapter.' Davis went undrafted in 2015 but ended up finding a home with the Dolphins. He played 80 games, with 72 starts, in five seasons with Miami. Davis also played for the Steelers and 49ers and spent time with the Vikings. In his career, he appeared in 95 games with 72 starts. He played five special teams snaps in one game for the 49ers in 2023, his last career action. Davis signed with the Saints during training camp in 2024, but the team released him out of the preseason.

Tom Brady Calls LeBron James 'The Greatest Ever' In Show Of Respect

Tom Brady Calls LeBron James 'The Greatest Ever' In Show Of Respect originally appeared on Fadeaway World. In a powerful moment at Fanatics Fest in New York City, NFL legend Tom Brady officially threw his support behind LeBron James in the long-standing NBA GOAT debate, calling the Los Angeles Lakers superstar "the greatest ever." Advertisement Brady made the remark during a live episode of The Shop, which featured not just LeBron, but also Victor Wembanyama and popular streamer Kai Cenat. Reflecting on LeBron's career and legacy, Brady didn't hold back in his admiration. 'The pressure and intensity that's been on him in the Olympics, the differnt teams he's been on, and he's always done things the right way. He's always risen above all the noise and the BS and continued to deliver. You're witnessing the greatest ever, and I hope you all appreciate that.' It was a moment of high praise from one generational icon to another one that resonated deeply with fans, especially considering the source. Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion and widely accepted as the NFL's GOAT, certainly knows what greatness looks like. That he would acknowledge LeBron as the greatest in basketball carries serious weight. Interestingly, this comes just weeks after Brady raised eyebrows by leaving LeBron off his Mount Rushmore of sports GOATs during a separate appearance. At the time, fans speculated whether it was a simple oversight or a subtle nod toward Michael Jordan. But if there was any doubt about where Brady stands on the NBA GOAT debate, he put that to rest this weekend. Advertisement Brady's comments were not only an endorsement of LeBron's dominance on the court, but also a recognition of how he's handled the immense pressure that has followed him since high school. While Brady was a sixth-round pick who rose to fame through grit and perseverance, LeBron was arguably the most hyped high school athlete in American sports history. Both took very different paths to the top, but they ended up defining their respective sports through relentless excellence and incredible longevity. Brady likely sees much of his own disciplined mindset reflected in LeBron. Despite the pressure, criticism, and constant media scrutiny, James has remained a beacon of consistency for over two decades. Now entering his 23rd NBA season, he continues to perform at an elite level and lead his team, recently pairing with Luka Doncic in a shocking Lakers trade that's reinvigorated the franchise. LeBron has four NBA championships to his name, 10 Finals appearances, and remains the all-time leading scorer in NBA history. And as Brady pointed out, that level of production and professionalism for such an extended period is something truly rare — and worth celebrating while it's still happening. Advertisement Of course, the MJ vs. LeBron debate is far from settled in the minds of fans. But Brady's declaration is sure to stir the pot even further. As one GOAT recognizes another, it's not just flattery, it's legacy confirming legacy. And when Tom Brady calls you 'the greatest ever,' the sports world listens. See it: New York Giants' Tyrone Tracy training with Eagles' Saquon Barkley

New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. is entering his second year in the NFL, and he's already figuring out that if he wants to be the best, then he needs to learn from the best. With that approach in mind, he's training with Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley shared on his Instagram story that the two were working out together, and the comments from Giants fans range from appreciation to disgust. Losing Barkley to the Eagles last year felt like a massive stab in the back to Giants fans, although when you know the whole story, it's hard to blame him for going somewhere they not only agreed to pay him what he's worth, but they also won a Super Bowl. The Giants are nowhere near that right now. Barkley's departure may have put a bad taste in the mouths of Giants' fans, but that doesn't take away from the talent he has or what his capable of doing on the field. The fact that Tracy, who surprised everyone last year by overtaking Devin Singletary for the starting role, wants to work out with Barkley simply means that Tracy wants to learn from the best. And who wouldn't? Giants fans don't have to like who Tracy chose to work out with, but they should appreciate that he wants to improve his game. Barkley can teach him what it takes to be a great running back in the NFL, and while their styles of play differ from each other, their roles on their respective teams are the same. With a new quarterback room and other areas of the field coming together between free agency and the draft, Tracy knows he needs to make an impact in year two and not suffer the 'sophomore slump' that many players endure. So, he's doing everything he can to make sure he can perform at his peak, and this offseason, that meant training with the best running back in the league.
