Critics Herald Jennifer Lawrence's 'Mesmerizing' Performance In Cannes Drama ‘Die My Love': 'Expect Her To Show Up On That Oscar Stage Again'
Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson took to the Cannes red carpet this evening for the world premiere of new film Die My Love, directed by Lynne Ramsay (You Were Never Really Here).
The Competition movie is based on the 2017 novel by Ariana Harwicz and also stars LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek and Nick Nolte.

Set in rural America, the film is a portrait of a married woman's mental disintegration as post-natal depression consumes and obliterates her. Pattinson plays her husband, and Stanfield her lover.
In Deadline's review, Damon Wise was impressed by Ramsay's 'mesmerizing film,' describing it as a 'brutal but beautiful story.' As for many critics, Lawrence proved the star of the show. 'America knows very well how good Jennifer Lawrence can be,' Wise wrote, 'and this could well mean a fifth Oscar nomination if it lands in savvy hands.' But Ramsay also comes in for particular praise: 'It could also be the film that takes Ramsay into the next stage of her career,' he says.

The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw gave the film four stars out of five, noting: 'Lawrence excels as a woman whose bipolar disorder is exacerbated by husband Robert Pattinson's infidelity, with super-strength direction from Lynne Ramsay.'
The BBC wrote: 'Die My Love is a surreal, intense and sometimes darkly hilarious exploration of postpartum depression – although it does seem for a time as thought it's going to be a lot more besides. Jennifer Lawrence is better than ever as Grace. … The film has its share of incidents, but it's essentially a mood piece – one long nervous breakdown – rather than a drama with a plot.'
IndieWire also praised Lawrence and noted her awards credentials: 'Jennifer Lawrence Goes Full Feral in Lynne Ramsay's Intense, Exhausting Postpartum Psychosexual Frenzy,' declared the headline, before adding, 'Lawrence gives an unleashed performance as a mother in freefall that festival Best Actress awards are made for.'

Vanity Fair described Lawrence as 'astonishing': 'A sometimes reluctant movie star reminds us of her full power in this Cannes standout.'
Variety was one of the few early review outlets that couldn't get on with the movie, which it said was 'more eager to wallow in violent dysfunction than understand it': 'By the time Die My Love reaches its voluptuously incendiary yet somehow rather rote ending, you may wish you were watching a different movie,' our sister trade wrote.

Ginny and Georgia season 3 ending explained: Theories on what will happen after cliffhanger
*Spoilers alert* Cancel all your weekend plans. Ginny & Georgia series three just dropped, and it's the most binge-worthy season of all. To quickly recap, series two ended with Georgia getting arrested for the murder of Tom Fuller. In peak Netflix drama fashion, the police crashed her wedding to Mayor Paul Randolph and read Georgia her rights during their first dance. As for the final scenes? They closed the show with Georgia at the police station, having her mugshots taken in her wedding dress. Now, with 10 new episodes picking up right where things left off (plus plenty of other intense subplots), there is *so* much to unpack. From whether or not Georgia is convicted of the crime, to where her relationship with Paul stands, the season three content makes for a pretty epic finale. Carry on reading to find out what happens at the end of Ginny & Georgia series three. Sarah Lampert, Ginny & Georgia's creator, recently spoke to Deadline about the series in general and the bombshell ending. She said: "For season three, the question I asked is, 'What would it take to break Georgia?' And I mean that coming from a place of love for Georgia, because I think she needs to break to build. So season 3 was about getting her to a place of being able to build her back differently in season 4." With that, as the season progresses, we see Georgia grapple with her new reality: that she actually might get sent to prison for her crimes. Or at least just one of them. If you remember, at the end of episode four, Gabriel, the private investigator hired to expose Georgia's secrets in series two, tells the jury that he thinks they're dealing with a serial killer. And of course, he's not wrong. But in true Georgia style, she finds a way to potentially change her fate. With the help of Ginny (who makes more questionable decisions than ever this season), the mother-daughter duo convince Georgia's younger son, Austin, to pin the murder on his dad, Gil. Ginny tells her brother that if their mother goes to prison, Gil, who has a history of being abusive, is going to move him away to Michigan. As Ginny puts it, he has to "choose between his mom and his dad" going to prison. After showing Austin a bruise on her arm inflicted by Gil, Georgia adds: "It's a murder trial, we have to give them a murderer." They also create a motive: that Austin overheard Georgia and Cynthia (Tom's wife) talking about how they blocked Gil's apartment application, so that he could be closer to his son. (For those who remember, this is partially true - Cynthia made it happen after witnessing Gil become violent toward Georgia at their kids' school.) Ultimately, Austin decides that he doesn't want to be split from Ginny and Georgia, and takes the stand as the only witness. He commits perjury, telling the jury that Gil was the person responsible for killing Tom. Prior to this, Ginny also convinces Cynthia to go along with this story. At first, Cynthia rejects the idea, but after Ginny blackmails her - she says she has evidence of her and Joe's affair on the cameras at Blue Farm - she concedes. After lying to the jury, Cynthia finds out that Ginny was also lying: the cafe doesn't have cameras, so she couldn't physically prove their affair. Because of this, at the end of the season, we see Georgia walk free. Cue a potential storyline where Cynthia seeks revenge on Ginny. Despite Georgia skipping jail time, the whole charade takes its toll on Paul. And when Georgia makes a truly unforgivable decision - telling Paul she's pregnant with Ginny's positive pregnancy test, which is a whole other story - he finally divorces her. But here's the twist. During the final moments of the last episode, Georgia drinks from a regular milk bottle. Though this sounds like an insignificant detail, Ginny reminds her that this was one of her pregnancy symptoms. The only problem? We don't know who the father is, because Georgia had slept with Paul and Joe around the same time. Err, major cliffhanger alert. In another turn of events, Lampert explained: "I know whose baby she's carrying, but I went into the writer's room this season and I said, 'Here's who the daddy is,'" before changing her mind. The creator also said that Georgia is "single as a Pringle" at the end of the season. As for Ginny, who fell pregnant with Wolfe's baby (the guy from her poetry class), the season ends with her dealing with her relationship with Marcus. During the 10 episodes, we see Marcus struggling with depression and addiction, alongside his on-and-off relationship with Ginny. Though the pair confess their love to each other, Ginny realises that she needs to let Marcus focus on himself before they can be together. We already know that Ginny & Georgia was renewed for season four. So right now, it's unclear whether a season five is on the horizon. However, Lampert said that there is still so much story left to tell. She revealed: "I always thought it would end at season four, just because I knew what the ending was, let's say. But what we're finding in the writers' room for this season is that there's actually more there. "It would almost feel rushed to get to that ending for it to happen in four [seasons]. I'm not Netflix. I can't control whether or not there's a season five, but I would say what we discovered very early on is, oh, there's more story here." Oh, you're killing us here!

TikTok influencer targeted with criticism after viral video about 'unchic' fashion choices sparks backlash
Lifestyle influencer Tara Langdale talked to Fox News Digital about how she received hurtful messages from critics after a not-so-serious fashion post describing what she views as "unchic" went viral, spawning a cascade of events that made her apolitical post a victim of attacks. The self-described stay-at-home working mom amassed some 250,000 views and found herself on the receiving end of some hate after an April 7 TikTok of her seated, drinking from a wine glass with nicely done hair, gold jewelry and manicured nails as she skimmed through a list of "unchic" fashion sins. Tattoos, Lululemon, baggy denim, camouflage and visible panty lines were just a few that made part one of Langdale's controversial "unchic" list, which drew backlash from seething critics who called her out with a political twist. "Voting for Trump is unchic," one said. "To her, privilege = chic. Hope this helps!" said another. A third said, "just say you're a republican and go lmao," while a slew of commenters took exception to her tattoo stance and ranted about classism. The video even caught The Guardian's attention, prompting an article that coined "chic" as "a shorthand for a type of conservative-coded aesthetic" and spoke of the "rigid and airbrushed" looks of Trump allies, sch as Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Though Langdale diddles cribe herself as conservative when speaking to Fox News Digital, she insists not everything is about politics. "When I get dressed in the morning, I'm not thinking about my political party and how I should dress to showcase that," Langdale said. "I think conservativism is more of culture, religion – all of those things go into your conservativist mindset. Now, if you're talking about conservative style of dress… that's also going to be more like religion and culture," she went on. "Of course, if I'm going to church on Sunday, I'm dressing very conservative. I'm going to keep it classy, but if you see me in the street in my regular day-to-day, I am not at all conservative. I would never consider my style to be conservative. But am I conservative? Absolutely, so I can differentiate the two. I know that the internet has a hard time doing that." Langdale addressed the politicized dogma, saying she doesn't understand why TikTok users jumped to conclusions about "conservative" or "Republican makeup" as they did. "Because I'm blonde, because I have more of a natural look about me, I'm not fully glammed all the time… I'm really not sure how that makes me appear conservative, but, again, I just think when people don't agree with what you say, they have to find a way to discredit you, and that's just an easy tactic," she continued. At the same time, Langdale pushed back against the idea of her video implying that people too poor to afford expensive items are automatically "unchic," and pointed to brand-name items like athletic apparel brand Lululemon, Apple Watches and Golden Goose sneakers – all of which can be pricey – as evidence pointing to the contrary. "Just keep in mind that money talks and wealth whispers, and I don't know any wealthy people that are wearing Gucci across their chest," she said in her original post. Langdale explained that the TikTok trend of users showcasing "things I find incredibly chic" grabbed her attention as they began circulating on the app. She found them "pretentious and off-putting," so she felt compelled to take her own stab at the video. "Of course, my video came off as pretentious and off-putting as well, but it felt like a certain level of cringe for me, and I don't like to personally attack anybody on social media, so I wouldn't go after a specific creator. I just kind of wanted to hop on the trend… so that was my initial, 'Why I created the video.'" Langdale shared that her direct messages on the platform have been "insane" with threats and comments about her family since the video went viral. "It does make you step back and take a pause," she shared. "Like, is this really worth it for how crazy people react? And I would never want to put my family in danger, but I think a lot of it is just the keyboard pirates that are just back there behind their computer typing whatever they can to try to get more likes in the comments," Langdale added.
